    The only issue I have, is when they say nothing of the modern world, yet they have tractors and generators. I think if they can have those, why can a "Doctor" not have a phone to consult another Doctor with, when he needs too? Contradictions that they do not see.

    • @NemoNobody0
      @NemoNobody0 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +92

      It’s a sect - they make random rules but than they need to create some authority to keep those rules up without explaining or reason. As soon as it is “God said…” it can’t be questioned anymore if one believes this is an authority that isn’t allowed to be doubted.

    • @williamchilds216
      @williamchilds216 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +37

      @@NemoNobody0 It's a typical cult thing you see. They make rules for you, with no actual basis in it. They ensure that you can't do things - and you aren't allowed to question it. They make sure you can't interact with people outside of those they deem acceptable.
      If you call it manipulative and abusive in a relationship, then it's most definitely a cult you're in.

      Well they don’t actually reject modern technology they just just take this one rule in the Old Testament that says people should avoid associating with non Jews the to extreme. As such technology is allowed to progress people just supposed to live in a way that makes it so they couldn’t simply join general society on a whim. It’s supposed to take several years of preparation if you want to leave the community and fit in elsewhere.

    • @liukang85

      yeah there are contradictions. But look at the society we live in and tell me it isn't infinitely more messed up and contradictory

    • @TheWolfalpino
      @TheWolfalpino 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      Those are not contradictions. A tractor is a tool for work, a smartphone is something different.
      90% of the comments reactions are from people who never farmed a single day in their entire life.
      But they choose to comment no matter what.
      They are healthy, they live, they cause no damage, they are self sufficient.
      It's a way of being ok with the planet.
      The "modern society" is toxic at its roots, not just to humans but to all living beings.
      When you start realising that, you start realising that you don't need "a doctor", but you need "The Doctor" 🛐

    My grandparents lived next to a Mennonite family. They were the sweetest people. We played with the kids when we visited. They loved basketball! They really help my grandparents with a lot of things. When grandpa passed they took care of grandma until she moved up north with us. Rare to have neighbors like that today.

      @@morgy2010 If you read the Bible you'll see that what you refer to as 'modern equality' isn't written there. Women have their roles in the church and in the family, just as men have their roles within the family and the church. I don't claim to know that much about Mennonites outside of my limited knowledge in their historical beginnings, but what is interesting to me is that you don't see Mennonites or The Amish preaching the scriptures to the rest of the world, but.... and this is a BIG BUT.... They LIVE what they believe in, and they show that belief in practice like coryrain's story above.
      My problem with the Mennonites stems from their systematic exclusion from society when it comes to technology, for example. Nowhere in scripture does it say that men and women are to dress like "Little House on The Prairie", rather the Bible does say to dress modestly. I for example on most days wear sweat pants, a t shirt, a Hooded sweat shirt and sneakers with just my hands and head exposed. I'm not a Mennonite but I agree with dressing modestly. You don't have to dress from another century to be modest. Also nowhere in scripture does it say that we as Followers of Jesus Christ have to excommunicate technology, however when it comes to that technology like smartphones, laptops, computers, tv, movies, tv shows, and music we as Followers of Christ Jesus KNOW what we are allowed to see (as it's written... the eye is the lamp of the body), what music we listen to (In all things honor and worship The Lord), and even video games where there is a plethora of Christian content as well, although I must confess I see nothing wrong with Mario or Sonic The Hedgehog or older arcade games like Tempest or Centipede for example. It's about self control and discipline, no matter if you cut the world's technology out or not you still have your own sinful flesh and desires to deal with.
      For example I watch Christian programming (which sometimes is hard to do because of so many false teachers out there), or Christian tv shows, or I listen to only Christian music and so on. We don't need to cut out technology, rather we need to cut out the sin that can be presented in that technology, and again no one is forcing anybody to look up pornography or listen to unGodly music or watch wicked programming on the internet or cable. That's a CHOICE, and by the way God gave us CHOICE to follow or reject God. These Mennonite communities think by cutting out technology then they can take away the desire to sin, but again as I wrote before we're all prone to sin no matter where we are due to our fallen nature.

I don’t remember them speaking German like the people in this documentary, they spoke perfect English with no accent. They also had 8 children, including a daughter with Down syndrome, and a son who was non verbal. When I had days off of school and my mother was busy and my dad was at work, I would go over to their house and play with their kids. They also helped look after me and my two sisters when my mom had a stroke, and they would bring us baked goods during the holidays. They were some of the nicest people I’ve ever met. Wonderful.... minimum education, no prospect of pursuing science or talents, no music or arts, barely any health care or dental from the state of their teeth, forced by doctrine to birth child after child from as early as 16 years old if the ages in the documentary are anything to go by. And of course it is a heavily patriarchal society. Yeah what a paradise on Earth. I feel sorry for the children who are indoctrinated into this by their parents. They sadly have no choice.
    So sad to hear them say how things are this and that and they do not even know why. Just because of an old tradition. The only light in that dark tunnel is that alternative community that seems to embrace more joys of life.
    And all those people in the comments swooning over how wonderful this life is, I would like to see you try it. Hard labour from dawn to dusk. Imagine the problems when you get a rotten tooth or a childbirth gone bad. If someone is born disabled or suffers from a rare disease or catches an illness or parasites. You'd be begging to come back to civilization after a week.
    And lastly, Amazon rainforest definitely doesn't need more deforestation to give way to agriculture. Besides their "search for remote places to avoid modern society" is a joke considering they had to take 3 planes, sleep in a hotel, motor boat ride and bike rides to even get to their area, they use heavy machinery to work their fields and even their household objects are made of modern plastic.

    The technological tools they use are minimal enough to do their job. The reason they are environmentally friendly when it comes to transportation and avoiding motor vehicles is probably because they don't need to go very far anyway. People who think they are living today's modern life have a lot to learn from these people, who I believe do not harm others or the environment at all, and are even very morally and socially beneficial. I respect and love them all immensely. Greetings from Turkey.

    How did Abraham buy the Amazon land, flight tickets, how did he even called a taxy if not using a modern technology? Despite these, I see no problem they live strictly as mennonites, they seem healthy and happy.

I can't imagine women giving birth and then there are complications. I want to know how they handle those that want more in life. It doesn't matter how far away you live, you know that there is another world out there. These thoughts may be suppressed or hidden but the desire will still burn in some.

      They moved to Peru years ago actually. Locals like them, locals learn from their agriculture knowledge and like the products they are selling. But there is unease in this rustic paradise. It is one of three Mennonite communities being investigated by Peruvian prosecutors over accusations of illegally deforesting more than 3,440 hectares (34 sq km) of tropical rainforest in the past five years. The brush with the law has alarmed the community of about 100 families who fear they could lose the land which they have made their home. In order to carry out deforestation there you need a permit from the state, and in this case, they did not have any permit
