  • After a season in the saddle the Moto Guzzi Griso 1200 SE continues to impress, in fact it is the funnest, coolest, sexiest bike I have ever owned. I'm looking forward to filming 'The Sunday Ride' on this bike. Where will it take me next?

    Best Griso review ever. This bike made me fall in love with Moto Guzzi, and I envy those like you who get to ride it often. Can't wait to get my own Griso too.

    I've got 2012 Griso 1200 8V and everytime I ride it I smile like a small boy. Every ride I am thinking that Griso is everything I want and need from a motorcycle and I don't understand, why other manufactures try to make a bike. I did 5000 kms this season and everytime on this beast my soul is satisfied. Enjoy your Griso and safe ride all the time.

      Thanks very much for the comment. I totally agree about the Griso. It’s everything I want in a motorcycle and most importantly it makes me laugh when I ride it. Enjoy yours and enjoy the road!

    I just took my 2016 model on a nine day 2000 mile trip across northern France, the Swiss Alps and down to the Guzzi factory at Lake Como in Italy and then back up through France to home in the UK. It didn’t miss a beat. Needed to make quite a few stops for fuel though. Tiny tank and a bit thirsty. A great bike.

    • @NomadicBullFilms
      @NomadicBullFilms  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the note Steve. Sounds like you had one heck of a trip. I'm hoping to make it to the factory for the 100th though I would imagine it will be pretty nuts.
      And yes, the gas consumption......miserable. In my mind that's the only downside of the Griso but hey! You can't have everything.
      Cheers.
      Scott.

    Griso from 'Promessi sposi': He is the head of the good of Don Rodrigo and his story is full of criminal violence, which went unpunished for the protection of the noble master. A rough character, but who in his roughness does not lack cunning, practical skills, so much so that his master he entrusts him with delicate assignments and commissions risky undertakings, such as that of kidnapping Lucia in the first part of the novel.

    Great video and perspectives...took the words right out of my mouth. I love my Griso and can't imagine myself on anything else! People who've never ridden one really ought to do themselves a favor and take one for a spin.

      I agree Michael. I hate to say it but the majority of people tend to follow the paths and mindsets of others, quite often to the BMW shop. Kind of ironic as in my mind BMW doesn’t build a bike that comes close to the Guzzi (and I’ve owned 2 of them).
      But that’s life, that’s perception, that’s brand cache. It sucks but it also allowed me to pick mine up new for 9,999$ Canadian. In my mind their loss was my gain.
      Happy New Years and I hope you have a great riding season ahead of you!!!

    Very goog video, congratulations.
    I agree with you 100%, this is an incredible machine. It has something special that others bikes doesn’t have.
    I have owned BMW’s Suzuki, Yamaha, Ducati, Kawasaki and Honda and this bike is diferent, I am totally in love with it, too.

      Hi Ana and thanks for reposting. I had to change the end of the other one to fit the cards properly. As for your previous posting. I too have had BMWs, still have an R100GS, a couple of Kawasakis, a Suzuki and a Yamaha but none of them hit me the way the Griso does. Maybe I'm getting older but I find today I'm more interested in the ride than technology and numbers and the Griso delivers there big time. I think it is the funnest bike I've owned and it's a looker too. Hopefully Guzzi will get their act together because they have the passion and technology to go head to head with the best.
      Enjoy your ride.
      Scott.

    Hi Scott and thank you so much for this great review. Also here in Italy there are not many Griso and, of course, they are getting rarer and rarer. I used to have the 1100 and then passed to the black and grey 1200 SE: I rode them in Mandello when they were first presented and simply could not wait to own them. You have already said all that was worth saying, I just want to endorse your statement about it not being a bike for everybody as most people follow the mass: that is absolutely true and really makes it a problem for such incredible manufacturers as Guzzi and Aprilia, which sell one-of-a-kind motorcycles that not enough people buy. That is a shame and I sometimes think that we do not deserve such jewels. I also think that Griso is destined to gain some value in future as these bikes are very much sought-after. Once more, wonderful review!

      Thanks for the comment Blow out the Cobwebs! Yes I surely do love this bike and appreciate your comments on the video itself. The Griso is not a super high tech bike but for me that's part of the attraction. Tastes are changing but I just wanted a motor with character and a fun ride at a reasonable price, the Griso checked all the boxes. Plus, dare I say it...it's kind of exotic in a sexy way. Hope you had a great Christmas and all the best in the New Year.

    Something about what Moto Guzzi does that keeps them reliable. They were the antitheses of what everyone considered Italian bikes to be, constant breakdown machines. The other Italian machines are getting much better with reliability now, but still more expensive. Time to take a look at the new V85TT.

    • @NomadicBullFilms
      @NomadicBullFilms  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey Bredaxe and thanks for the comment. I agree with what you say. As I get older I’m subscribing to the ‘simple is best’ philosophy more and more. I love the fact Guzzi is trying hard to resist water cooling. A lot of people think that is backwards, I disagree. Just because something is more technical doesn’t necessarily make it better and I also love working on my own bike which is becoming more complicated with new technologies. But that is just one aspect of the Guzzi’s charm. For me it’s greatest attribute is the huge V-twin lump of an engine. What a glorious thing.
      As for the V-85, we’re still waiting for its arrival on the west coast of Canada. Looking forward to that!
      Enjoy the summer riding.
      Scott.

      Thanks for the note! As far as the camera equipment goes I use a Fuji X-T2 and a Fuji X-E3 with a 18-55 lens on the one and a 55-200 on the other and a Rode VideoMicro mic. Edited on Final Cut Pro. It's a small package but does a half decent job. As for the Griso....I love it! Hopefully I'll get more videos out there. Cheers and enjoy the summer.

    I have an Ultra Classic that I adore.. But THIS! THIS BIKE is SPECTACULAR! Question for you.. How is it two up? I have a significant other who I love to take with me.. the Classic is like riding a sofa, but I'm thrilled that this bike is ZERO technology (no ABS, GTraction Control Etc..) So nice to actually RIDXE a motorcycle.. Thank you for an excellent review..

    • @anguscameron521
      @anguscameron521 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey JIm, had a Griso two years … love it... 2 up on the standard rear shock is not greatest, it's ok now and again. Some have upgraded the rear shock to the unit used in the Stelvio (great if you are a big guy ) with the benefit of having a quick adjuster. For more opinion open a thread on www.grisoghetto.com/ and you will get some good advise.

      @NomadicBullFilms  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the comment Jim and sorry for the slow reply. It’s an awesome bike, as for 2 up, over the long haul I think it might be a bit of a challenge though haven’t tried it yet. Short trips absolutely. I just find this bike fun in a true motorbike way, than again these days I ride mostly solo. Happy riding.
