I have leukaemia and am on a very effective targeted medication, but I’m getting one irritating side effect....very slow-to-heal infections around hair follicles, particularly if I’ve nicked the skin because of an ingrown hair. Because I’m very prone to ingrown hairs, particularly on my neck....it’s a bit of a vicious circle right now. I just used this cartridge, after about 4 days of not shaving, and I am VERY impressed. I’m 69 years old and have used a lot of different razors. Most recently Gillette’s fusion, with a power handle. With a 5 blade cartridge I could never decide if the power was a gimmick or a legitimate feature, but I like the fat handle and the weight with a battery installed. The only place the skinguard cartridge didn’t want to shave as closely as I wanted was under my chin, so I turned on the power....with this cartridge it is NOT a gimmick, those stubborn whiskers were gone in a pass. Yes, it probably costs more for a cartridge than it should, I’d obviously prefer the cost to be lower, but no other company did the research and development needed to bring this to market, so I’ll happily pay the price. Judging by how well this first shave went, at the very least, this is going to significantly lessen my problem. And, I still got a very nice shave... I can feel a tiny bit of stubble, if I rub against the grain....to me this is exactly what I need. Thank you, Gillette.
I use Gillette fusion prosheild flexball chill or dorco pace 6 plus. Sometimes defender razor. I shave my head 3 times a week! Gillette skinguard is a good razor for headshaving. But I prefer Gillette fusion prosheild flexball chill. Skinguard is good for ingrow hair, irritation. Smooth but no bbs.

My suggestion would be to try the BIC Comfort Hybrid 3. Although in the USA they have brought out a 2 blades version as well which I look forward too. Other possibility would be the Dollar Shave Club humble twin razor. Not east to find on their site (as they push the executive), but still a nice low cost 2 blades cartridge razor.
After numerous razors both branded & supermarket, have found the wilkinson sword hydro 3 perfect, good shave & no skin issues after. DE was too sharp & harsh & 5 blades razors caused bumps. In the end we all find something that works 👍🏻
The 3 blade home brand in many UK supermarkets use the Hydro 3 head. Look up one of my early reviews of the Tesco 3 blade razors I did to see what I mean. In the USA it was also marketed as a Hydro Connect 3. This can help you save some money and still have your nice shave 😉
So i can buy sainsburys own brand 3 blade cartridges & be the same? The wilkinson sword only one that gives me no issues so if sainsburys the same then i’ll happily save a few quid!!

Any decent razor will give you a close shave but you did not address the skinguard issue....does it really work? Is it just plastic or covered with something smooth to protect your skin. All you talked about was two blades not skinguard. I personally think Gillette is trying anything to get back a huge part of market share they lost. Razors are way overpriced. Period!
These are overpriced, but you should see my videos on why we pay these prices and why shave club's are unprofitable here in UK (And in some other countries)
I think I did mention it is just part of the plastic injection moulding. No special gunk, it stops the hysteresis of multiblades by being further spaced apart, but also stops the undulating of the skin inbetween the blades that can cause people to cut themselves

On the orange and blue blades have you ever seen the orange peel off .? Great video 👍
Not sure what I am going to do when the supply of Sensor 3 cartridges I have are gone! I do not like the Mach 3s, the Fusion cartridges are way too big, and I hate the edge trimmer blades!
Geek Of Shaves thank you! I appreciate the advice!
@@markbritton6485 whatch the video, it has the hydro head, plus a special connector so that it fits on a Gillette handle or the home brand handle, but not the hydro handle unless you remove the special connector (which is not that easy but possible, so easier to use on a Gillette handle)
good shave quick question do you use DE for head shaving
Not any more.
Excellent in depth review.
Thanks, I do enjoy it so I hope this comes across. #Geek
I haven't used my DE razor in a month since getting this razor.
Great review man! I got sensitive skin and im gonna pick it up
Glad I could help
Did it work for you?
Any good razors
Yes there are plenty, and I have reviewed quite a number. The thing is everyone is different (even Gillette did an advert on that fact) so it is bout trying some and finding the one that works for you.
Hi mate do you know which blades are compatible with harrys razor??
Harry's are the manufacturer and have stopped selling compatible ones to store home brands.
Ok are you sure there no compatible razors will cien razors fit?

Any good razors at the moment?
There are a lot of good razors out on the market. Very few new ones recently though. I know a BIC flex comfort 2 has come out in America but that has not arrived in the UK yet. Fingers crossed.
Oh ok which razor do you use at the moment??
@@akyy2744 I have quite a lot of these 3 blade cartridges that clear well, and I like this flexible handle, so this is my standard use one every day. On occasion though I do try others just to mix it up a bit.

Hi are there any blades that are compatible with Gillette fusion proglide?
Blades that fit the fusion range of handles are the various different types of fusion blades (fusion, provide, chill etc) and also the Right Fit 5 that is used in supermarket hone brands that uses a hydro5 cartridge on a special adapter.

Ah ah ah no look
Thanks man just watch in Walmart to see if I should buy. I did thanks man
Glad to be of help on either side of the pond 😉
The days of shaving with a Gillette cartridge razor are far behind me. Now it's a DE s(h)aving the day.
Which DE razor do you use? I've got my grandpa's 1967 gillette slim and a 1917 gillette old type single ring
Santiago_n I have a few. (As I collect vintage DE's.) But I shave with a Merkur Futur. You can not go wrong with a vintage Gillette. Both excelent shavers.
@@MrPleers I don't know much about the merkur Futur, but it's a modern DE right?
Santiago_n Yes.

This is a great razor ,works very smooth 👍
Ohhhhh god I just saw the new Bic Flex 2 Hybrid system at the local drug store...on sale...the resistance was in high gear needless to say........I bet it will be a few months before you do a review or it comes out in the uk lol.
I will keep an eye out
I don’t think this is worth the upgrade from the previous Gillette models. I still enjoy my proglide as it gives me the best shave, even better than my merkur hd.
It uses the same handle connector as the proglide
Straight razor for ever!
Great review.
I am glad you returned to give your take on it, especially since you shaved your head too.
I _would_ give it a try but sadly I am a heterosexual Male and am sick of being attacked by feminazi bullshit everywhere I turn.
if you don't have sensitive skin you should try safety razor and doing at least one video with it, you'll probably fall in love.
I have used DE razors several times. I guess I have never found the right combination of blade and handle to suit me. I like ultra smooth
if you go on italianbarber.com they offer many kind of sampler packs , you'll find the one for you. if you didn't try the brand feather i think it could be the right one for you.
If it’s for sensitive skin I help this razor will also reduce cutting your skin
I use Nuxe aftershave balm for men. Works great for razor burn :D
i prefer R41 :)
The skin guard gel is quality for £2
What makes it such a good gel?
Waste of money.Get a de razor from 7 euros.100 nice blades for 10 euros a brush for 5 euros and a soap again for 5 and you are done for long long time, And the quality of the shaving is unique.
Was buying Gillette for at least 25 years but no more , I have moved to Wilkinson sword cause no matter what Gillette thinks for me I am not a bully or a rapists and nor was my dad.
Gillette will never see another penny from me
Have you seen the review I have done of the advert, you may well like what I have said in it.
Will check that out, thanks buddy
Defender Razor is Much Better 💪 Luv mine"
I watch shaving videos, because I can't shave at all, no matter what I do, I get razor burn/rash/bumps every time, even when getting it done by a professional.
I am sorry to hear this. What prep is it you are using?
@@GeekOfShaves I have a long hot shower to hopefully get the beard hairs soft and pores open, but I think it's just I have very coarse beard hair and super sensitive skin. I have to either live with a beard, or use a beard trimmer and go on the lowest setting and that's the closest I can get to a shave! :(
@@TheShubbah many people would kill to grow a beard. We have to embrace what we are. I suffer from male pattern hear loss (balding), in the past I tried other things to hide it but now I except it and have it a tight buz cut or I shave it smooth. We need to love our bodies for what they are .
@@GeekOfShaves very true words friend. Just sometimes it would be lovely to be able to shave. Good on ya for not hiding being bald, it looks good on ya! I fancy doing it sometimes!.
have a great one mate, and cheers for the kind words!
I might of well just stick to the Gillette contour plus because it's cheaper for the replacement with blades and handle to. Even the contour has two blade cartridge.
But still use a good quality Badger brush and soaps and creams.
I just think it's a rip off selling the replacement for £20 odd quid for the new gillette razor what you are reviewing.
I certainly do not this the replacement cartridges are the best value for money. There are a lot of other makes that I think do a great job and are a lot nicer on the pocket, and you can see this in my other review videos.
Why do you shave like you've never shaved before? One second you're shaving with the grain then against then with then against then with then against... then with then against then with.... then against then with then against.
I am not sure what you mean. I shave, it all comes off, I am smooth and irritation free. With grain, across gran and against grain, when you let the razor do the work and do not push hard then you get smooth and you have no pain or razor rash.
Nice review mate ☺
Thanks
Many cuts for me. A bloodbath with this product. And I'm a Gillette guy.
Every face is different, as long as you have one that works for you that us what really matters.
Al Samsa that razor gave me a billion bumps, it’s not made for black men.
Nice NUT! I hadn't laughed all day and now I did. Did you notice it has one MORE blade on the other side to get the border of side burns etc. This is not shaving in the normal sense! Rather polishing I would say. Never shave against the grain unless you have Buffalo skin.
😭 impossible to get in without scissors, I’m 15 and u can just use your hands 😭
Why do you pay dude just send an email to Gillette, Wilkinson, Dorco customer services and ask for a sample - they send me them out all the time now!

They dont call us tight as a gnats in Scotland for nothing lol
That is rather impressive if you get that to happen.
@@GeekOfShaves Yeah sometimes 3 of the same model but i doubt they will send me that new £200 ripoff you just reviewed but I have hope.

I am not very lucky on the comps, but I know others who are.
Have you heard of scissors
Scissors for ?
@@GeekOfShaves scissors because there was an insignia at the top of the package that clearly displays that they are required to open it.theres even a dotted line across so you dont fuck it up somehow much easier then fighting with plastic.also theres a trimmer behind the razor that you didnt review.too late now but now you know and i was bored 😬
Ok, thanks for the update on the scissors. I think I mention there is a back blade, but as I have mentioned in other reviews, I never seem to need them. Just lucky I guess
Is this safe on the balls?
I have not tried. I do not think this skinguard will make any difference down there though 😉
Grate vídeo!!
Thank you for the review, BUT way way too long, almost 20 minutes ? Here is my review about your review:
*7 minutes of talk even before start shaving. what is there to talk for so long before actually trying it? are the viewers supposed to be impressed by you coming out of "retirement" to make a 20 minute video review?
*4 minutes of shaving , with all the respect, no one cares to see someone shave.
*10:53 - 11:46 - that is the real review.
*4 minutes of shaving, which again, no one would care to see - in my opinion.
*15:30 - 15:42 - another part of the real review
*more unnecessary talk.
*16:27 - 16:36 - good part
*more unnecessary talk.
Thank you again for the review.
That was quite a review of my review 😉
Sorry it was not quite what you were looking for, although I was very pleased with man6 of the positive comments.
The video tries to provide for a wide spectrum of people and what they are looking for, for example many want to see the razor in action while actually shaving (which was clearly not to your taste).
As with most things, you can not please all of the people all of the time, and if you watch many of the others I have done previously you can see how it has evolved.
I d rather watch one piece video than a bunch of edited clips pinned together. So annoying. So I think this video was great.

Its all shit man.... get a DE razor, learn to use it and u will never go back to 3-4 blades again.
"3-4 dull blades or one sharp blade" what do u think gives razor burn.

Your technique in shaving is terrible.
Not sure why you say that, I get ultra close shaves and do not cut myself, sounds like an effective technique to me. Mind you each to their own. Perhaps if you see some of my other videos it might amaze you some more how it might not look pretty, but is effective. The key of course is to let the razor do the work and do not push hard with it.
