Don't forget, that Freddie was an untrained singer next to an opera diva which makes their collaboration even more precious.

I can see when music moves a person's soul. I saw that in your reaction. Pure joy. I loved your reaction and seeing how powerful this music was for you too. Simply spectacular performance and production. I am an Olympic junkie. This was intended for the opening of the Barcelona Olympic Games in 1992. Freddie told Montsy that he wouldn't last that long. Unfortunately, he didn't live to see the Barcelona games. They recorded this earlier to be able to share it with Montserrat's home town of Barcelona!

Wow you said “Monsy’s “ as Freddie called her - her name very well. She is an incredible opera soprano diva. She and Freddie became great friends and went from creating one song to singing an entire album that is gorgeous. Freddie and Monserrats’ voices blend heavenly.

Goes to show you what a legend Freddie was, how many other rockers could stand next to the BEST female opera singer and hold their own beside her.... zero...I believe would be the answer...lol They adored one another. I believe and don't put it in stone, but I believe this song was written for Montserrat, when he sings, 'The moment you stepped into the room, you took my breath away" singing of the day they first met in Barcelona to talk about doing a collaboration, he was such a huge fan of hers and she ended up adoring him as well, and you can see it with their interaction on stage.

BARCELONA was inspired by Freddie’s favorite opera singer Montserrat Caballe’ hometown Barcelona, Spain! This was a musical love affair between these two icons of music. The album is wonderful and now you gotta check out my favorite song off the album … THE GOLDEN BOY!! Thank you! 🙋‍♀️

Freddie was so much more than a simple rock singer with a wide vocal
range. It was his dream to collaborate with Montserrat who was one of
the greatest sopranos. Freddie and his friend Mike Moran have composed a
whole duet album. She really loved Freddie's ideas and they became good
friends, too. This was the first crossover between a rock star and an
    opera diva in the history.

Thanks for such a great reaction!! Yes, they enjoyed collabing so much together, she suggested they do an entire album together... phenomenal music... and Freddie's lifelong dream of singing opera. Yes, it truly was 'a kind of magic', 'heaven-sent' and 'a miracle'!! See how life reflects life and comes full circle... she wanted the song to be dedicated to the Barcelona Olympics in 1992, but unfortunately Freddie did not live long enough to see this happen. She refused to sing the song with anyone else, so they played the recording of the song during the opening ceremony intro... Thanks again for your reaction and will be anxiously awaiting your next video, please keep'em comin'!!

I love the Barcelona album especially How Can I Go On? & Guide Me Home. I also recommend you watch the videos of them being interview ed together on Ibiza & some where she speaks about their expert & friendship. They worked on the music in 1987- 88. He already had AIDS & confided in her. She kept the secret. I also learned that the composer of PhAntom of the Opera wanted Freddie to sing it & Freddie & Montsy were hoping to record it He became too ill, but she recorded song from.it & played it to him.on the phone.

Freddie was classsically trained when he was younger (I know the piano)
not sure how far he took it! I'm sure he had vocal training, because he had a wide voal range and he could sing anything.

    • @kendallneason3645

Great reaction! They did a whole album together, it is a great album. Check out Exercises in Free Love, it is a demo Freddie made for Montserrat to give her an idea about what he had in mind. Freddie sings her soprano parts in the demo. Check out The Golden Boy, The Fallen priest, Guide Me Home/ How can I go on and Ensueno. This was the first collaboration between a contemporary singer and an opera singer. Monserrat is one of the best opera sopranos of all time next to Maria Callas. Freddie basically invented the pop, opera genre with this album.
