So amazing! Why? I think because Freddie worked very hard to make these masterpieces happen and so did the opera diva, Montserrat. Freddie was fulfilling a dream of his while Mme Montserrat may have been totally surprised with the opportunity to 'star' with a Rock Star...but she did! And, fabulously! Freddie introduced her to 'creating' as she performed the music - because as she told him singing opera meant she had to do what the conductor wanted. Thanks for this attention to their fine production. Happy 2022 to you also.
This was Freddie's solo work with Mike Moran. The Queen band members were not involved with the Barcelona album. Freddie worked with Mike Moran on Dave Clark's Time production, resulting in the title song "Time" and "In My Defense", which did not involve the Queen band either.
Freddie & Mike Moran collaborated on the Barcelona album with Montserrat Caballe’ who at that time was a famous opera star from Barcelona! Sir Tim Rice was asked to write the lyrics for The Golden Boy cuz Freddie “ran out of lyrics”. This is my fav off the album. Mr. Rice commented that Freddie is The Golden Boy!
Freddie and Montserrat were the perfect pair to introduce something new to the world, Freddie with his great creativity and Montserrat with her belief in him. Pls, check out The Fallen Priest, that's another passionate song from the album. 👏👏👏
How can I Go On is another from the album, and Excercises in Free Love is amazing. It is Freddie singing Monserrat's part. He did a demo and sent it to her to show her how he would like the song to be sung. He has said he doesn't write the music well, so a demo was better. She was blown away with his range and talent not only as a singer but as a composer as well
