Practical setup. Love it! I have a .... Wacom tablet, iPad USB dongle for extra ports, wireless charging mat for phone/ watch/ etc., Plantronics wireless noise cancellation headphones for meetings & music, braided cord power strip that coils compactly for everything. USB to Ethernet adapter (if you have to ask, you don't need it) Arc mount to hold the MacBook, Apple's white mini keyboard & Logitech grey/ white MX3. Magic Mouse for travel. SSDs. All about 20lbs*
Thanks for the video. Nice gear. I have always carried my equipment in insulated boxes like the ones you take to a barbecue. We call them Esky's in Australia. I put foam cutouts in them to suit my cameras. I have been doing that since the 1960's and never had anything stolen. The Esky is in a place in my van that can not be seen from the outside. I carry my BMPCC 6K rig in an Esky nowadays without having to dismantle it. Works well.
I got the Logitech MX mouse and keys during the holidays. I really love how I can switch the keyboard and mouse between my Macbook 16, my mom's 8 year old iMac, and my iPad Pro 10.5. It's something I would keep for years
I just ordered my first Macbook ever. M1 Macbook Air 16GB, 512GB. The accessories I already have: 1. Computer Table, very basic. 2. Table cloth, cotton. 3. Belkin 8-way surge protector. 4. LG 48'' TV. 5. Logitech Pebble Mouse. 6. Logitech K380 Keyboard. 7. Seagate 2TB HDD, already had it. 8. Seagate 4TB HDD, a recent addition. The things I am looking forward to getting. 1. Belkin multiport. 2. Dbrand ICONS skin. 3. Laptop stand from Dailyobjects. 4. Macbook sleeve from Dailyobjects.
Nice setup and accessories for your laptop. Mind if I ask what you use your laptop to have such a list of accessories? I just received my M1 Macbook Pro 16GB 512GB for photo editing and video editing use and so far its been a beautiful experience as my first Macbook ever.
Hi! Great to have you on the dark side (or, white) of the PC world, hehe! Same here! It’s been a beautiful experience working with the M1 Macbook. There have been certain additions to the list here. I got a deskpad from Dailyobjects, it’s really well made and gives a clean look (even tho, the desk is often filled with stuff 🙈) Got the laptop stand from Dailyobjects, it’s sleek, attaches itself to the laptop (double sided tape) and is really comfortable to use, Changed mouse to Logitech MXmaster 3, you should get this one, it’s awesome! Sleeve, I didn’t get as of now, using rucksack with laptop compartment for travelling Ordered one tech kit organiser, again from Dailyobjects 🙈 Got usb hub from Hyperdrive, it’s nice, connects to both the ports directly, so, no wires, cleaner, Didn’t get the icons skin, got a wood finish one I work as a Graphic Designer, Interning several jobs, learning video editing, motion graphics and uiUX I want to pursue Masters in Interaction Design soon :)
Just got a MacBook Air M1 and a the Logitech RX anywhere 3 as its more portable, I’m not building a setup yet but definitely gonna come back to this video when i do.
As a casual user, my M1 MacBook Pro accessories include: WD My Passport SSD (256 GB), JBL Xtreme 2 Bluetooth Speakers and a black slim laptop bag. Still on my way to buy a dongle just in case I need one.
I've been watching a few of your videos since december 2020 since i've been waiting for mig MacBook Pro with the M1 chip 16 GB RAM and 1 TB SSD. I wanted to learn more about the computer and your channel has been so helpful with that and confirmed I made the right choice (unfortunately I still haven't received mine just yet - 4 weeks has turned into 9-12 weeks depending on when it arrives). I have to say I love your videos and the energy you put into it - it's clear that you are passionate about with which is why you have become my favourite TH-camr in such a short time. The intro is honestly always the best! Normally I don't comment, but I really have to this time because your videos are really good and so helpful. I'd love it if you at one point would make a video about a day with the MacBook Pro - I'm really looking forward to mine and watching these videos makes me so excited for it, but also makes the wait bearable. Again love the channel and your videos. Thanks for sharing :)
There’s something that I love about my set up, that I didn’t notice you mention. I do way too much Internet calling. I also need to listen to what’s going on on my computer while I’m Internet calling. And I don’t want to sound bleeding through. I love the Jabra speak 510. It’s a nice circular speaker that can pick me up anywhere I’m in the room, and it has a microphone, and the cable just winds up inside it so it’s easy to throw in a bag
First of all, this channel is great. And I take almost all his recommendations. And about the bag, I bought the same exact bag on Amazon before traveling and I swear someone broke my car window to steal it along with my Mac, the Samsung ssd, the Mac pouch, the dongle, the mx master 3 last month while I was traveling. It’s almost funny but it’s not. This isn’t to say that his advice doesn’t work, it’s just to say that you should be walking with your bag attached to your body, and have a small tracking device stitched to the inside of your bag and/or laptop sleeve so you can track them. That could save you thousands, and a lot of heartaches 😩
Orr, for the love of God, hide your bag under the car seats or in the trunk. I'm sorry to say but this but that's your fault for having your bag right there in the open of your car for people to see. What I do is either hide it under my car seats or if I'm in a rush I put a blanket over it. Haven't had a break-in yet. Maybe I'm wrong and you did hide it but those tips alone can save you thousands and a headache.
Hi Everyday dad.... I'm a big fan from India and watch all your videos even though I'll not buy it😅😅.... I just love your videos I had a question... I'm thinking of buying an M1 MacBook air for video editing and Animation.... I'm confused between buying more ram or more storage... As i only have budget for one.... Because in India base M1 MacBook air starts from 1260$ and both extra ram or storage will cost another 274$..... So is the 8gb ram enough? Software I'll be using is Adobe animate, premiere, Photoshop, illustrate..... I can swap premiere with native m1 editing software if it's not optimized yet.... Sorry for long comment as I'm really confused and no-one is making videos about my needed configuration....🙏🙏 You are the best....
A ratty high school book bag is ideal. Faded, torn. One you would leave at a public park rather than being willing to pick up and look inside of. INSIDE of that bag, however, you can outfit it with amazing foam cushioning for suspension against impact, a power strip with extension cable, etc. Forcing a cat to pee on the bag (a bit) is an excellent security layer. Your mileage may vary (depending on the cat).
I'm trying to find the same wall charger on amazon but the link you provided said its invalid. Can you tell us the brand again? Please and thank you :D Love you channel!
Your audio sounds so much better with the microphone right in front! I am watching this on an IPad Air 4 but I am really tempted to buy a MB Air or Pro! If I do invest in one, I probably will have to watch all your accessories videos again for it!😀
My M1 Air came today, and we lovveee her. Coming from a 2017 iMac full specced out. It's crazy fast, now I just can't wait to build peripherals around it😛
I'm also running the Logitech MX Master 3 with my M1 Macbook Pro, but I can't help to notice sometimes there will be a latency/delay of response with the mouse pointer while connected via bluetooth. Has this occured to you before?
I’ve gone the exact opposite to your keyboard and mouse set up. Logitech MX Keys for Mac keyboard and the space grey Magic Mouse. The MX Keys for Mac is superbly made and has 3 different quick settings so I can type between Mac, iPad Pro and iPad and the push of a button. Very cool imo
Hey there, for backup / archive / cold storage, have you considered a Synology NAS? I've found that using those for a home network and connecting via SMB / Finder is a fantastic workflow, and you have the redundancy built in.
The MagicMouse has the charging port at the bottom sucks, but you WON'T NEED to use it while charging. MacOS will give you a notification when you have low battery on your MagicMous, and the remaining battery can easily get you through a day. All you need to do is to charge it at night and you get a full changed mouse the other day.
Time machine is not for saving data. Time machine is ONLY for backing up whatever drive you save your data TO. Saving data on a drive is a function of EACH application that you use, not the operating system of the machine itself. Deciding in each application WHERE you want to save your data is up to you. THEN tell Time Machine to back up that drive also.
Timing is perfect on this My own M1 MBP13 is arriving tomorrow and I’ll probably look at getting at least a few of these - and some I have already 👍🏼👍🏼
I wish Apple make new mouse cause I think I can work with one click mouse but Magic Mouse 2 ain’t it I heard…also did you ever used MX Anywhere 3 before? I consider to buy that one but still conflicted.
Gary, you got me confused about dongles now...What do you suggest for a usb-c (I’m running an Air 4) dongle? I know you’ve mentioned a cheaper option in the past, but do you prefer the one from this video now? Thanks!
Hi! Great videos, you won a solid subscriber. Anyways I wanted to ask you a question, I’m starting to study programming, I hope to be a developer in the next 2 to 3 years or so, but I’m not sure about the m1 processor (because of compatibility issues)….so…i have 2 options, either get a MacBook Pro 15 inch 2015 with amd graphics, or the m1 mb air…the pros on the 2015 is that I can install bootcamp (is that necessary for programming? And the con is that the m1 it’s much newer and capable in terms of raw performance…but would i still be fine with the 2015? I like the bigger screen………and the better port selection (easy “fixable” with a dongle in the m1)….do you have any advice for this “issue”? Thank you in advance!!!!
Amazing review I like your vids a lot , can I ask you 1 question about if this mbp good for 1080p. 4k video cutting editing ? Im looking into start my youtube channel , making travel vids etc,. Thanks for your answer ! Keep up the good vids !
I just got a 16" 1pro and I need an external SSD to edit short projects-mostly 1080p or 4k from a Sony a6400/a7iii so nothing too heavy really...I connected the M1pro to my thunderbolt 2 Lacie 20TB and it works fine (with the adapter) but I need something reliable and on the cheap side to edit on location-short videos- Same day edit or so...I found this: SanDisk 2TB Extreme Portable SSD - Up to 1050MB/s - USB-C, USB 3.2 Gen 2 -will this work with my M1pro to edit with Premiere Pro? Rendering in4k H.264 will be fine? This one looks affordable...thanks!
Question! I have the same / similar mechanical keyboard with RGB, but on Mac I'm unable to get the RGB to work; just white. How did you get the RGB to work on Mac? (or is that connected to your PC?)
Man, I just returned my MX Master 3 because it`s has a lot of lagging issues with my MacBook Air M1... I wanted it so much, but even the logitech support and apple support can`t resolve the issue. So I`m using the magic mouse again :( you experienced anay lag on your MX3?
I got my Macbook Pro M1 on order (April delivery) - and it's weird, I already have some of this stuff so good choices! ;) I have the hub, the Rav Power brick, MX Master Mouse, Samsung SSDs and even the Pebble mouse, however, I don't use that as I upgraded to the MX Anywhere mouse which is essentially a mini MX master mouse, it's not cheap but it's great so you should check it out!
Always try to opt for a direct cable. Without adapters. USB-C to HDMI cable. Not HDMI to HDMI to USB-C adapter. I run a Samsung G9 from my MacBook and a second, separate HDMI monitor rotated into portrait mode.
What do you use to keep drive duplicates up to date? How's that system working for you. I'm recently trying to dig out of a hole because my time machine bu did not backup my photos in my photo library like I thought it would.
Question for you? When editing in FCPX what external drive do you use for your library and which one for your footage? Does the library drive need to be an ssd drive?
Ery day dad sup! Got a question. Can you edit and export directly from and to an external SSD? Or does final cut work like Luma fusion where it makes copies of all the files
Bruh this was on my homepage and I needed these recommendations with my new M1 MBP. Thanks!

Question for you? When editing in FCPX what external drive do you use for your library and which one for your footage? Does the library drive need to be an ssd drive?
i wonder that too
Instead of so many drives, why not using a Nas solution?
Ery day dad sup! Got a question. Can you edit and export directly from and to an external SSD? Or does final cut work like Luma fusion where it makes copies of all the files
