The Roar of old EMD power is amazing, those two SD40-2s were working really hard. Which IMO The SD40-2 is the locomotive that'll be around for a while.
I agree 💯. I’m not a fan of the ge locomotives. I have a mostly emd model railroad and I have three sd40-2s in ho scale and five gp38-2s one in ho and the rest are o scale
The Dash 2 line is one of EMD’s most lasting and reliable locomotive series to date. Even if the unrebuilt versions were purged from all Class I rosters in the near future, there are plenty available for regional and short line railroads to supplement their fleets with.
Used to see the SD80MACs all the time on the mon line, Conrail then later NS. They're all sold for parts to Canada now I think. Wonder if one will be preserved?
Just a few reasons why I no longer photograph trains anymore. I was spoiled by the consists of the late 90's and early 2000's. Boring widecab GEs on everything these days has all the appeal of watching paint dry.
