    Always liked these guys since I first heard them in the late 70's. A nice mix of traditional and contemporary.

    Interesting. I learnt this song off sheet music from a home made Scottish song book in the 70's. I've always sung it and played it in 6/8. The song stands up for itself without any help.

    Yes, wonderful version of this song that was apparently sung on the streets of Newcastle in the mid 19th Century. I saw an episode of a Catherine Cookson story where a blind girl is singing this in a pub, I think or somewhere where there is an audience.

      Well, I can't say I got to these videos by unquestionable means, but I can say I do appreciate it. As of around an hour or two ago.

      A magnificent band padraic. There is one English band that could keep up with these lads though. Strawbs, their early music, were magnificent too. Both bands were much appreciated by me. It was hard to choose which band I loved the most.

    It's not English, it's geordie. There is a difference!

    • @heliotropezzz333
      @heliotropezzz333 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      What is English if geordie is not? They are called geordies because they were supporters of English King George at the times of the Jacobean rebellion and they live in an area that is part of England. Anyway Horslips was an Irish band. Scot Dick Gaughan does a nice version of this song.

      @@heliotropezzz333 But this was sung by the Geordie member of the band.
