As we get closer to the end of the Old Testament, Fr. Mike highlights one of the lessons we've seen time and time again-that God continues to fight for each of us, despite the brokenness and messiness of our lives. He also points out how the reading from Wisdom foreshadows the coming of Jesus. The readings are 2 Maccabees 14, Wisdom 17-18, and Proverbs 25:18-20.

Fr Mike I just wanted to let you know that you are a true blessing for doing this Bible in a year podcast. You are reaching out to so many people and I’m assuming millions of people to listen to God‘s gospel and to come back to God. As I’ve been getting older my faith continues to grow stronger every day. I’m loving church more and more because I feel closer to God when I am in church and when I’m at the cemetery visiting my parents. I am a true 100% Catholic and believe in the Bible and God’s word and following God and carrying my cross to the best that I can. I am really happy that I am learning more and more as this is my fourth year doing it and I will continue to do it until I die. I keep you in my daily prayers. And for God to also give you the wisdom as you explain the Bible to the listeners on this podcast. I am very thankful that I’ve downloaded this app it’s the best thing I’ve ever done and the highlight of my day every day. I continue to pray For my family my brothers and their families to come back to God. I’ve been also praying to Saint Monica to help me get my family and my brothers back to God and his holy church. I persevere in prayer on a daily basis. After reading the Old Testament and understanding how God was always on our side, fighting to keep us on the right path, I now appreciate the New Testament even more. God never abandoned us so much so He came down to us so we can go up to Him. ❤

I’m praying for you and your daughter right now. I know it’s a year later but God knew that I would be faithful today!
When we sin, we literally crucify Jesus again and again and again… (like on that day, on Calvary). I try much much more harder because of this.
Jesus suffered so much for us, He died for us. And what do we do? We compromise with our sins; we tell ourselves we’re not as bad as some others.
“Lord Jesus, help us to conquer our sins. Every one of it, no matter how small. In your precious name, we pray. Amen.”
Hallmark Movies are so funny! I always described them as one is a Grinch and loves only work and the material things of life (sometimes with a traumatic past) and the other is a sappy Christmas goose who has to show them that Christmas is wonderful and such a better way' They fall in love and the entire town is happy for them and they live forever happy.

I am so happy right now. This morning I got up and I wrote to student report cards and I decided to do my Bible in a year podcast. I realized hey I might be able to finish it tonight… Because if I wait up until 10 PM the last entry will be released for the OT. It’s the end of the old testament but I have already read all through the New Testament in the past year with my best friend… So I will be finishing my journey through scripture. As I was listening to today’s Bible in a year podcast I just decided that I would finish it myself and read to myself the last chapter in the book of second Maccabees and then the last chapter in the book of wisdom.
Once I had made the decision that I would finish reading through scripture I could feel the Holy Spirit stirring in my heart and such a strong and powerful way. I was overwhelmed by the joy of the accomplishment of being able to say I am among the saints who can truly say they have read all through scripture. And I think that is a smaller group than we’d like to admit.
When I was younger I would read some times in my precious moments Bible that I got in the fourth grade… And when I was in University we would, on occasion, have to study a book of scripture. When I finished University and I got the Message Bible I decided to take scripture reading a little bit more seriously. It was easier to do because I was reading a translation I understood. The message translation truly is where I came to know Jesus as a friend and Saviour.
I think so often of the verse in Jeremiah where it says when I found your words Lord I devoured them. Or in Nehemiah where it says the people went away with great rejoicing because they understood what had been read them. I think there is insurmountable value in reading a translation of scripture that you understand even if it is a paraphrase.
When Covid started and I got sent home from school I watched this video by Mark Roper on TH-cam and at the end he said some thing about using this time for something good. And it didn’t take me very long, I think I realized immediately… I wanted to use this time to be more serious about scripture study and to read through the Bible. I wanted to be able to say if I was called home to heaven from this disease: that while I waited, I read every word that You left me. From March 2020 until Christmas time I was reading in my message translation and I was studying books with my friend- where we would go chapter by chapter and really dig in deep. We would be prayerful about which books to do but they weren’t in any order other than what was being led by the Holy Spirit.
As Christmas time rolled around I thought more about getting a “better” version of the Bible. I didn’t need The Message anymore in order to understand God’s word, and I felt both convicted and drawn toward reading some thing that was more of a Word-for-Word translation. I also realized that, while I could say I had read everything in the message at this point… There are books that are inside of the Catholic Cannon that I had never read. I also was hearing about this Bible-in-a-year podcast that would be starting and thought it would be nice to have a Bible just to go through that with. And I love… I mean love it… My old message Bible so I thought getting a new Bible and really focussing on using it for a year would be what I would need to call me away from the security of my message Bible. So I ordered an NRSV-journaling translation on Amazon and when the Bible in a year podcast started I was ready.
In this past year I have continued to study book-by-book with Nadya really digging in and making extensive notes… While listening to the Bible in a year podcast with Fr. Mike. (And there are many books that I’ve done twice during this time…) But recently I found I had just those Catholic books left..
The joy that is in my heart right now knowing that I have now read every word He’s left me… Is EVERYTHING. I am so overwhelmed with the grace of God and how he has redeemed this horrible time in my story for some thing really really good. I’m really prayerful that I can continue to make a regular habit of reading scripture, and maybe going through the Bible in a year every year for the rest of my life. Thank you Ascension Presents!

Father mike I really appreciate doing the bible year with us . Cause that I don't always understand the Bible. Other than jesus christ birth death and resurrection. Anabella saint paul of the persecution he went through and it's conversion. I just waited for you to talk about the book of revelation. Cause I do not understand it But I do understand chapter thirteen what are talks about the anna christ What is talks about receiving the mark of the Beast? I understand that I think it's the a microchip. Because they use that on the animals and things like that 'cause everyone's gonna want it. Because you won't have to carry your Driver's license. You won't have to carry your your medical card or or. Medical your bank card everyone's gonna wanna The angel is gonna go through the whole earth for claiming do not receive the mark.

Round Two I am looking for people to please take a moment and pray with me for Souls in Purgatory. Can you help?
According to tradition, St. Gertrude the Great was told by Our Lord that each time she piously recited the following prayer, it would release 1,000 souls (or a vast number) from their suffering in purgatory:
Eternal Father,
I offer You the most precious blood
of thy Divine Son, Jesus,
in union with the Masses said
throughout the world today,
for all the Holy Souls in Purgatory,
for sinners everywhere,
for sinners in the universal Church,
for those in my own home,
and in my family. Amen.
In her account of another vision, St. Faustina describes Purgatory as a "great crowd of suffering souls" undergoing purification. Further, she says that the souls are "praying fervently, but to no avail, for themselves; only we can come to their aid" (Diary, 20)

Father Mike, I think I am in an abusive relationship. I have been married for 20 years this coming June 23. He is always screaming at me and opposing me decisions. I don't know if I should leave him and how. We don't have any children. Please help me.

For some reason the book of Wisdom has been difficult to understand. Am I alone?

Why did God bring the Jews to Egypt in the first place? Who created the drought and famine. They would not have been enslaved if God did not send the 7 years of famine. What was the purpose of this. (this is a problem that i have. I question God and should not. It is part of why i can't be confident that I am saved. I don't know why i see these questions).
