I learned so much today. I understand the need of the authority of the Church. I understand that the Bible teaches that man and woman are different but co-equal like the Father and the Son. Wow! The more we understand our faith the better we can share and defend it. Thanks Father Mike!

I love the fact that Paul and Barnabas have a disagreement about Mark but get back together later on - it just brings the issue of forgiveness to the forefront - and how we all fall into those situations even today - and I as an older woman now who didn’t always follow her Catholic faith and fell into the “I am woman hear me roar” lie, now veil at Mass, yes I cover my head and wear a skirt and modest clothing to honor my Lord and I’ve gotten a whole lot better at letting my husband d of 41 years, not all great years, be the head of our family - humility is a gift and grace from God. Thank you Jesus amd our blessed Mother for teaching me how to live like a child of God 😊🙏❤️

I remember learning in college that in Genesis 2:18 what reads as "helpmate" in English is taken from the word ezer in Hebrew. When ppl read "helpmate" they think subservient, but what's interesting is the only other times ezer is used in the Bible is to describe God's strength when he is rescuing/saving His people, so we know that that's not at all denoting inferiority.

"The woman was made out of the side of Adam, not made out of his head to rule over him, nor out of his feet to be trampled on, but out of his side to be equal with him, under his arm to be protected, and near his heart to be beloved"

I grew up in the 60's. My parents were always a united front. They worked together and were a great example of being complimentary. I never saw one as greater than the other. I have tried to keep that example in my marriage. One learns from what one sees.

SO IMPORTANT for all the Protestants who claim scripture alone to contemplate and deeply Father Mike's correct commentary on ACTS Chapter 15 - WHERE THERE WAS NO LAW WRITTEN REGARDING CIRCUMCISION ON THE BAPTISM IN THE NEW COVENANT. The Catholic church Jesus founded and is still going strrrroooong thanks to Holy Spirit, great faithful spiritual directors and faithful on-fire for Jesus- laity, is the discerning body for the world and was meant as such for all matters to follow from 60 AD: revolutions, wars, technologies, sexual freedom.... It was the Catholic church who provided laws of ethical fairness from these early days, not Martin Luther btw...I digress...

Yes! I would like to know just where it’s said that we need to go to church? Staying home and looking at Mass on the TV , is not what I think is going to Church.

What about people who are homebound? Would you deny them in learning more about Christ? True that a lot of televangelist are often not speaking the truth, but trying to make themselves rich. You have to find someone who really believes the Word of God and teaches it. Pray to God to help you find the right Pastor who is teaching God's Will.
I'm homebound. Would you deny me listening to Fr. Mike?

Do you have just a moment in time to pray for Souls in Purgatory with me?
According to tradition, St. Gertrude the Great, was told by Our Lord that each time she piously recited the following prayer, it would release 1,000 souls (or a vast number) from their suffering in purgatory:
    Eternal Father,
I offer You the most precious blood
    of thy Divine Son, Jesus,
in union with the Masses said
    throughout the world today,
for all the Holy Souls in Purgatory,
    for sinners everywhere,
for sinners in the universal Church,
for those in my own home,
    and in my family. Amen.
In her account of another vision, St. Faustina describes Purgatory as a "great crowd of suffering souls" undergoing purification. Further, she says that the souls are "praying fervently, but to no avail, for themselves; only we can come to their aid" (Diary, 20)

  • @giarose6493

The only way to find serenity is through humility. God is Trinity, but you need to find his true divinity. And I will never deny Jesus is infinity divinity. Unity, family equality.

John 16:12-13 Jesus said: "I have much more to tell you, but YOU CANNOT HEAR IT NOW. But when he comes, the Spirit of truth, he will GUIDE YOU TO ALL TRUTH. ..."
    That applies here.

Thank you so much for explaining the first book of Corinthians to us.
It is so beautiful and true although it can be hard to digest at times.
I don’t currently wear a veil to mass. Is that some thing that more of us should start practicing? I understand the historical context but I’d really like to know. I’m a candidate/catechumen and this would be helpful.

Blessed are those who believe and not seen, that is faith. Why do people insist on seeing it written in the Bible to believe. Didn’t the Bible also pointed out that not all that Jesus did is recorded. Some of the teachings I believe were passed on by the apostles verbally than written. In addition, the Work of the Holy Spirit continues, revealing the hidden & will of the Father in time

Father Mike, I remember when I was younger, No women could go into Church without a hat or a veil on there head. Women were not suppose to wear pants to Church either, why has everything changed so much in The Church. I remember when we had to go to confession every week not once every 2 months. To me Church is just not the same anymore. I still go and will always go because I go for God and Jesus and The Holy Mother. I have been so dissapointed in Church's new way of doing things.

Why is the Confiteor always skipped at mass? It is supposed to ensure that you are acceptable to receive the Eucharist. It forgives all venial (not mortal) sins that you have committed. " I confess to God Almighty, before the whole company of heaven, and to you, my brothers and sisters, that I have sinned in thought, word, and deed; in what I have done and in what I have failed to do, by my fault, by my fault, by my most grievous fault; wherefore I pray God Almighty to have mercy on me, forgive me all my sins, and bring me to everlasting life. Amen"

Is it skipped at the mass you attend? It’s always said at all the masses I go to at all churches.

Father, what about "Christ being a head of a man"? Following the logic you presented, man is equal to Christ?

    • @QueenyKay

Exactly. Fr Mike's explanation do not always make sense. That's why I struggle with the idea that the Son is equal to the Father. Co eternal :Yes; Consubstantial (from the same essence) : Absolutely; Co equal No; And I haven't found an explanation that convinces me, especially after almost reading the entire Holy Book.

Paul was not Pope or infallible. Pope Frances said the Eucharist is not a reward for being good, but for everyone wherever they are. Popes and Pope Francs interprets what is written by the Magisterium. The Eucharist is Not a political weapon.

we are all sinners, so obviously the Eucharist is not a reward for being good. pope francis was not making an infallible statement. whether one holds a political office or not, if one is defying the teachings of the Church, then that person is not in communion with the Church and shouldn't receive the sacrament. just as other Christian denominations are not in communion with the Catholic church and do not receive the Eucharist. just as Christ Himself allowed many disciples to walk away because they were no longer in communion with Him after the Bread of Life discourse. nothing to do with politics, everything to do with sharing the same beliefs and obedience.
