I owned a c30 D2 for 5 years and it never ever let me down. I miss it badly. I started a family so now have a D4 xc70 and my wife has a v50 d2 r design. So much like my c2 but we can have the kids and more in there. Cool video! Thanks so much
@@VinnesAuto I did a lot with my c30. I had a towbar on it, roof rack with wind deflector, roof box on top, trailer with mountain bikes on tow and would do trips to Europe or across England and everyone loved it!!!! If I could send you a picture you’d love it too. My xc70 though is a brute. Can’t even begin to tell you how incredible it is!
Thanks :D I have thought about making a video like this for some time, and when I saw your cinematic edit on the Civic I was inspired to follow through with the idea :)
I love how passionate people are about their C30s but for me the best looking Volvo is the MKII V40 hatchback. The C30 is the Volvo I started looking at when I wanted another car but it's the V40 which make me unequivocally and unfalteringly fall in love with driving, it's not even close. It's just past 90,000 miles and I've owned it for a year on the 23rd of September. I still find myself staring at it in all of that rebel blue glory.
I must admit the V40 can be quite attractive in the right colour and spec. It is probably the Volvo I have contemplated getting the most after the C30.
Thanks :D Yeah, I've had it before from exporting in resolve, but not for a while. Apparently you can't really get rid of it without changing the edit, which I didn't really want to do. The weird thing this time is that the artifact got bigger after uploading to TH-cam, which I can't recall having happened before. It was only a tenth the size when i exported it.
@@KiTrisExtremeRc Apparently it happens mostly if you have a harsh transition in colour or exposure in a specific area of the frame, and also when working with lower bitrates. The beauty shots were shot in 1080 60p with only 50Mbps since the a6400 can only do 4k 30p, and I wanted to slow down. So I think it is a combination of all that. I also messed up the shutter angle throughout the whole thing, as I forgot to change from 1/50 which I use for 24 fps, so it defaulted to 1/60. It think it turned out fine though, I also used optical flow in Resolve, which actually seemed to smooth out the shots nicely and sort of compensated for the shutter angle.
@@VinnesAuto Ah okay, still weird that this happens, even with lower bitrate stuff like Gopros I've never seen such issue. Maybe it was the optical flow then? Always make sure that you use the correct Time Line framerate with your footage. I've seen times where Resolve made a mistake and the footage was really choppy, so if you want to do 24fps time line with 60fps footage you need to slow down the shots to 40% to make it smooth :)
@@KiTrisExtremeRc Yeah, I changed the frame rate to 24 in the Clip attributes, but still found it slightly choppy, and so decided to give the optical flow a shot. I am also still using the free version, which could also have something to do with it, as it doesn't utilise all my hardware. I can't use Log or HLG on my Pocket 3 which records in 10 Bit, as the free version doesn't support it for some strange reason. You just get artifacts all over the place. But using the "normal" colour it is just fine, even though it's still 10 bit and same file format, which I find strange.
Hi :) None of the C30s have limited slip differentials. There are some aftermarket options, but quaife makes the best option I think. As for how difficult it is to install, I don't really know. With a strut brace and an upgraded rear sway bar, it does actually put down it's power quite well in stock form, but if you are going to push more power out of it, or do serious track work, you might want to start looking at LSDs.
@@VinnesAuto Thanks for the quick reply mate I appreciate it! My friend has a C30 T5 R-Design I'm looking at buying it from them later this year. I could never tell as a passenger if it had an LSD or not, as you say it puts the power down well.
Volvo's DSTC is very VERY precise. It adapts to the conditions which you're driving and manages to put the power down pretty well without hindering you. It's what makes it very fun! Though if you push it beyond 300 hp, it's gonna struggle and an LSD will be indeed needed... Or if you somehow manage to put Ford's Revo knuckle in it.
Thanks :D Back when I first started to get into the C30s, I didn't really like the facelifts for some reason. Over the course of two years and by the time I was old enough to get a car, the facelift version had really grown on me, but I still like the pre-facelifts too. The most important thing for all of them is the R-design. Both for looks and handling. The D5s should be bulletproof in stock condition, so I would probably give it a go!
@@VinnesAuto thanks I can totally see what you mean, somehow i also change me mind over Facelift or not facelifted a lot. Looks wise r design is a must have in my opinion. Actually more so even on the facelifted c30 in my opinion. For some reason, I feel like the facelift’s headlights look too big and out of proportion with the black plastic fenders. But with r design it’s really a handsome looking car!
Yeah, and what many seem not to know, is that R-design also comes with: lowered ride height, stiffer springs, monotube dampers on the front axle, stiffer bushings, and a 10% faster steering rack for more direct and responsive steering. Throw on an upgraded rear sway bar, and maybe some springs or coilovers, and it handles like a dream!
Hi! Questions: How tall are you and how comfortable would a 193cm tall man be in the frontseats with seats lowered to the max you think in a C30? I guess sitting in the back as 190+cm tall would be close to impossible right? Or do you think a person could manage that for short rides too, like 5-10min drives? Nice videos, thanks!
Hi, I'm 183, but I have a couple friends who are right around the 2m mark. One of them has driven my car, and I don't recall that he had any issues. The seat does go far back, but not as much down as some cars like BMWs. Headspace in the front however is not a problem at all. I would say if you're over 185 or so, you can't have someone behind you. At 183 I can just about sit comfortably behind myself. 4 sub 180cm people can fit nicely in the car. I have had one of the 2m guys sit in the back for a very short drive, but headspace is an issue, not to mention legroom.
@@VinnesAuto Thanks for the reply! I will keep an eye out for a C30 going up for sale near me so I can go try sit in one to make up my mind about them :) You being 183cm, how much lower towards the floor would you say you could adjust your chair if you wanted to? Or are you already sitting close to as far as it will go?
I'm sitting as low as I can go, but I do that whatever car I drive, because a lower seating position is better for sporty driving. As long as I can see over the dash, I will go as far down as possible. Volvos from this era aren't known to have very low seating positions.
Wonderful little cars I have a red t5 r-design with a manual as my first car, and compared to all my other options, i dont think i could be more satisfied with anything else. (Other than it not having its leaky sunroof lmao)
I would absolutely love a T5. I am low-key planning to sell mine and import a facelift T5 from the states. Usually a leaky sunroof on the C30s are from clogged up drains from what I know. I think they run down behind the a-pillar, but I'm not entirely sure, as I don't have it on mine.
I also have a T5 R-design and had an issue about my rear passenger floor being wet or years later the driver's floor in the front (except by then I knew the solution) and I thought it was coming from the sunroof. I tried what Vinnes said about cleaning the drains from the pillars etc and didnt work. I found the solution online and as weird at it sounded, it worked: try sealing the hatch door in the back, all around where all the black molding meets the metal - I used silicone. Hope it works for you too.
I always wanted a set of Atreus, they're definitely the best looking original wheel. These here are of a volvo V40 Cross Country. 18x7.5 et50 I believe. Called "Metallah". I got them used for only 3000 NOK. Pretty good deal if you ask me, though they needed tires. On here I have nokian hakka black 3.
