14 years for attempted murder, mutilation, kidnapping and rape... That's disgusting of the "justice" system. He should have been jailed for life. And then to have the audacity to blame Marie for his crimes! What an absolute pos. Good on Marie for living through all of that brutality, it's almost unbelievable. The amount of mental strength to keep going after everything... Wow. ❤️ Thanks for the video! I hadn't heard of Marie's story before. Glad to hear you're feeling a little better. 🤗

This girl was born to be a survivor. What she endured in her childhood home made her a strong woman. Unfortunately she would be tested in ways that no human should ever have to go through, let alone a 15 yr old. Insanely horrible that this happened to her. She pulled through that like a an actual warrior princess. I honestly don't even know what to say about how she survived all that! She was thinking about what he'd do do someone else, & that's unbelievable! My heart goes out to her. Glad to see she's doing well now!

This story was so sad and absolutely horrifying. Mary is so strong and courageous and I can’t even begin to imagine living through what she did. This story sent absolute shivers down my spine because it reminded me of a situation from back in 2010 when I was only about 18.
I was living at home at the time but my bff had moved out and was living about an hour or so away in the suburbs of Detroit. She was working at a mall and didn’t have a car at time and would walk the 2-3 miles to work and back each day. It was New Year’s Day and she was walking home along an empty road taking a shortcut home through a fairly new and empty business park and an older man in a pickup truck pulls up next to her to offer her a ride. It was cold out (Michigan in January) and he said he felt bad seeing a young girl like herself walking alone in the cold and he offered her a ride. She said he was sweet and nice so she hopped in and let him take her home, claiming that she was being safe by lying and telling him her bf and roommate were waiting for her in her nearby empty apartment. She related all this to me over a phone call after the fact and I was appalled and furious with her for being so careless. She got upset and pointed out that she had told him about the made up bf and roommate so he knew she wasn’t alone and she couldn’t seem to comprehend why I was so upset with her (especially since I knew the spot he had picked her up at was also uncomfortably close to her apartment). I explained to her as calmly as I could that serial killers and rapists don’t give a flying fudge who is waiting for you at home; now he knows that someone will be looking for the body parts he scatters along the side of the highway in trash bags!!!
We moved past this, but I was still so appalled that my friend could be so careless and trusting (the running joke was how it was because she was Canadian and was too nice for her own good 😂) and how lucky she had been that he hadn’t been a psycho! Listening to Mary’s story brought this incident back to me and I really just had to share because it’s so important to be wary of strangers as a woman, ESPECIALLY when we’re alone. Stay safe out there everyone. 💜💜💜

Off topic: make up, flawless. background, love!
On topic: what the actual f. First of all so glad she survived and got that mad arrested. But 14 years and only served eight. That’s what really pisses me off about these cases. People are being out away for longer for non violent crimes like weed and he... did all of that.... and was only in 4 eight years. Murderers and attempted murderers should not be eligible for “good behavior” early release. They should have f’in “good behavior” the whole sentence before being ugh I can’t get started on this one hahah.

Thank GOD something kept telling her that she couldn't go to sleep - because, she would have died. She needed to get her adrenaline back up to get up that cliff, which it sounds like this amazing little girl did! If it helps when you think about the pain of her haviing to pack her wounds with mud, when she did it, her body was most likely still in such shock that it wouldn't have hurt in the way we imagine it - if she could feel it at all, yet. That's not to take away from how amazing she is for even thinking of it and having the bravery to do it. Thank God that couple made a wrong turn. This little girl made so many small decisions that were actually huge - because, added altogether, she saved her own life.

Most survivors only have to deal with internal scars...to have the abuse everyday means the person who did it should also have to deal with it for the rest of their lives!
Maybe we should have another level of attempted murder --- "eternal remembrance" - living with attempted murder

Am I the only one who sees a scary amount of visual similarities between Marie and the woman he eventually went on to successfully murder? And given it was 10 years later wouldn't she have been close in age to Marie at the time? Horrifying stuff...

Oj didn’t kill Nicole his son did
He went through what he did for dating a minor and she went through it because she was sleeping with her step son
Her parents will never get any money because they were ok with their daughter dating a married man because he had money

Whatever that judge 100% had the power to put that guy away. Sentencing is generally up for the judges discretion. they tend to practice restraint in decisions because it’s less controversial and there is a risk of appeal for harsh sentencing but I don’t think in this situation anyone could have cared if he had been more harsh.
He should have practiced a little more judicial activism in this case for sure. I love California but sometimes they a wee bit too liberal
