  • Furniture art is all about texture and layers. In this project i use paint, stencils, Molds, clay, plaster of paris, varigated gold leaf, Bentonite clay to thicken paint and lots of layers and textures to create somehting original and unique. Look at any art and the greats used texture and layers to make their unique art. I do my best to explain it all and show you how to do it.

I can't believe how beautiful this turned out! I want doors like that in my whole house, I'm with Martyn on that! I just look at that and see magic. You are so talented, and you keep getting better every video! I did love the music at the end as well. Made me think of belly dancing lol! I was picturing big fluffy cushions, silky curtains, and bells clinking from the belly dancing skirts. 🥰

Love how your mind works!! Watching your videos are like being in the same room with you while you are creating! So relatable! Seemingly NO filters. You do what you gotta do to get your vision done! I’ll say it again no other furniture artist that I have watched shares their gift the way you do! Can’t get enough of your resourcefulness ( whew! that’s a big word! ) and knowledge. You always seem to care that your audience understands your method of why and what for. You are a natural teacher. Sorry this is so long, but eh🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋

At the very beginning that first glance of this door, took my breath away! Oh my, this is something to behold. You must have been up night's planning all you wanted to do for this texture demonstration. From the get go you were working a mile a minute, understandably, given how many layers and processes it was going to contain. You have to be so pleased with the result. Truly an outstanding 'Made by Marley' work of art. How long were you actually planning this? Can't imagine how you are able to show up every week with a new project, each one unique. I know you also paint quite a few other pieces, on average, how many finished pieces do you complete each week? I also know you are busy working on producing your line of stencils which is very time consuming, are you also painting furniture? You have mentioned that you would like to move closer to town, is that still in the works??? It's summer, and I notice you are still wearing a jacket in the 'barn' has the hot weather not yet reached Scotland? We had a week of over 32 Celsius, unbearable for me, but it has thankfully cooled off considerably. I can't take the heat, and although Ithaca generally has long cold winters and cooler summers, our climate has changed... Not good at all. Has 'climate change' affected where you live as well? You have to know by now that I admire you like no other. Forgive me for always telling you how much I love your work, but how could I not tell you? Do you get tired of all the adoring comments that I and your many viewers bestow on you? "Love Makes the World Go 'Round"... Have a marvelous and productive week. (Get some sleep!) Thank you for this wonderful and long detailed video. Much LOVE to you and Martyn! ~ Sydni PS - Martyn, the music was right-on! Just perfect for this piece & very enjoyable. Thanks for all you do!

Those colors!! Stunning! I love the textures too and hope to try this! The tile effect is brilliant. You are such a master that even experimenting on camera works too. Plus it’s such a good thing to see how you problem-solve, because that’s when we learn the most. ❤
Funny story: in my 20s I worked on Maui, living in a ramshackle house with a bunch of other poverty-stricken kids. The house was falling apart and falling down… And there was a door propped up against the wall. I was taking a nap and a huge Trade Wind blew into the house and blew the door down right on me! I was relatively OK, weirdly. Until I saw the huge nail sticking out of the door that had just missed my head. 😂

Martin, I have a special request for you. When Lel mixes her paints on the floor or on the side, would you ALWAYS film that for us? It is important because she shows how to off-load extra paint for stencils and how she loads her brush to have 2 or more colors on it and other "tricks of the trade." Thank you very much.
I sincerely hope that some warmth will come to your part of the world and that you will have a wonderful, healthy week.

@@MadebyMarley it's not just that. It's always a good reminder and good to see you loading up the brushes, mixing colors, loading off the brushes. I have seen most of your videos and i always want to see how you prepare your brush and/or mix your paints. In this video, you were loading the brush with 2 or more green colors for blending and i was curious to see how you were doing it, but Martin only showed one glimpse of it. That's why i asked to see how you do these things. All things. That's how i learn. Thank you.
