I'm trying to figure out if I can use a sprayer to cut down on my time. Why is the second coat rolled? Do you recommend the rollers that use the spray machine to feed it? Is a sprayer worth the investment if I have to do about two apartments per week?
I think if you had a pressure roller, you could really save time. A small sprayer is all you need. Very low pressure with the roller system. Graco has the classic pressure feed roller and the Jet roller, which you can use whatever brand cover you want.
Thank you guys. I'm currently considering the Graco 390. It's the smallest one they have, and I'll never be doing anything larger than pre-lived in apartments. The whole kit, though, once one gets everything from tips to masks to jetroller, etc. is $2k, which is why I'm thinking about it carefully. It'd take me about a month to get my ROI on it.
Do you believe that the Titan 440 is comparable in quality? It is almost half of the price, and that's tempting, but I'm concerned about performance and reliability. What I'm doing is obviously small scale, but it's still "commercial" in that it will get used on a regular basis. Do you believe that this will last me for years, tips excluded?
I learn something from each persons approach. Quality is a given and there’s nothing wrong with getting it done without dragging it out. I like to have a guy spray and one or two people to backroll. Spray walls and backroll . Definitely backroll ceilings. I like to hit ceilings walls then trim. My buddy paints trim first and then trim. I think the more spay experience u get the more you choose it over cut and roll althoue I still cut and roll most of the time. Bought my first sprayer and I’m going to need blue tape and some shields 😀.
Just bored and looking up random things but I like how you said that there was no overspray but on 8:21 you can see yourself giving the baseboard overspray. Just sayin
This is all property management companies want wrong or right a lot of this is most likely "Section 8" housing, Not the Taj Mahal Nice control over the gun,
Which is more ridiculous: the lack of quality, or the jackass customers who force this kind of quality by their delusional budget. Unfortunately, these cheap customers will nearly always be the first to complain about anything they can think of : dust, ghosts, slight overspray, slight patching bleed. It is all about them cheating others, and calling it being a good business man.
Finally someone in the comments section "gets it". Customers drive the price down and expect a good job in return. Here in Dallas area some apartment complexes are paying 15 cents per square foot for two tone paint jobs like this. 600 sq ft apartment pays $90. At that price, you can't expect much.
No. There’s definitely overspray on that window; even if you didn’t come close to it. If there isn’t any overspray, you wouldn’t have to wear respirators.
I bet the finish is a total mess. The cutting in with the blade will be so un even. Great techneque for jail cells or buildings that no one gives a shit about tho.
Thanks for the tutorial video. I’m a plasterer in England and have used spraying machines for plastering. I want to start spraying paint to save time on refurb jobs but have always just seen it as mist coating and wondered would this method be suitable when using two colours? ie... white ceiling and a grey wall as a the example. Taping up a ceiling edge?..nah..taping a wall edge? Nah. Wouldn’t work I’d be there all day. But watching you with those light weight aluminium screens gives me a chance. And if there is a mistake I’ll touch up no problem. I noticed the gun was the smaller which makes sense due to having more control... is that right.??
I could almost roll the room in 12 mins with 3/4 nap roller. And have my helper cut everything else in behind as I go. Quick and much better job. But I would charge a lot more.
Let me ask you because i have a 395 what size tip are you using and did you have to add water to your paint if so and how much and does it matter if the paint is latex or oil base when determining to add water?
A lot of painters are criticizing this guy because he is not spraying evenly, but they're missing the point that is the first coat, who spray evenly on the first coat? In my point of view this guy is a badass! Give credit when is due.. I'm in the painting business for 20 years and I paint costume homes, apartments, commercial buildings.
The guy doesn't know how to spray period, listen to any professionals talk about how to overlap etc. It makes no sense what he's doing, it's like he just taught himself and never listened to anyone with experience.
Because spraying is a different whole thing. When you get your qualification as a painter and decorator you don’t get learned how to spray. Hopefully this will answer your question.
Because you can learn a new trick every day. I know a guy that has been painting for 30+ years and considered one of the best professionals in the area. Well I'm not from this area and I had seen a trick that I had never seen before and I showed him and now he uses that trick/technique everyday if the project calls for it. So to answer your question sometimes and old dog or new can learn a new trick.
Very fast but hard to see the finish. Not sure about going horizontally. I think i would put poly on ceiling so i could spray vertically and not have to hold the guard.
Because backrolling enforces consistency. Just spraying it with a horrible pattern means a halfass job. It takes years of spraying to master coating consistency. Even then I still backroll afterwards. Interior or exterior
The reason you back roll is that you can’t touch up a spray finish unless you get the sprayer out to paint the whole wall again back roll give texture so if you need a small touch up later you got a fighting chance it will blend in that’s it the only reason
This definitely for an apartment turnover. There is no way in hell you’d expect anything to touch up on those walls and that’s where the painter would be like “hey the paint doesn’t touch”
I use similar techniques but there is no way this came out even with just one coat and no backroll. Also I doubt the ceiling lines are acceptable. Great for 1st coat though. You Need to learn to not start and stop on the surfaces being sprayed. Thick laps stand out like a sore thumb.
Remember guys this is production painting work not a custom house or something similar thanks for the video is great 👍🏼

@@ms.branch1207 It will look like absolute shit. He probably charges more that that. The paint will cost $200
well done... very good ideas.. thanks for this video...i ve learn heaps here...
What is the aluminum guard called (to avoid overspray)?
painter's guard
Where can i find the metal parts who can use in this video?
usually paint stores will sell over spray guards or shields
No. There’s definitely overspray on that window; even if you didn’t come close to it. If there isn’t any overspray, you wouldn’t have to wear respirators.
You feel like a genius huh!?!? Lol
100% correct. Overy spray all over and it would look shit the way he is doing it
I bet the finish is a total mess.
I paint mostly freshly plastered walls and I find you cant tape it just pulls right off better off doing the skirting first 👍
Nice Job! Where'd you get the spray shield?
Home Depot has them
I could almost roll the room in 12 mins with 3/4 nap roller. And have my helper cut everything else in behind as I go. Quick and much better job. But I would charge a lot more.
TG OPIE 🤥
What type of tip are you using
Where to buy such a float to support while painting the wall ?
Was that a flat paint that you guys used?
Christopher Nobles flat ? yes , brand , super paint.
What type of sprayer and spraygun/tip are you using?
What is the PSI?
Let me ask you because i have a 395 what size tip are you using and did you have to add water to your paint if so and how much and does it matter if the paint is latex or oil base when determining to add water?
No add ons to my paint . I use a 411 tip
great job! I just bought a sprayer and I had so much mist Going to try smaller tip size
John T yes. try the 411.
A lot of painters are criticizing this guy because he is not spraying evenly, but they're missing the point that is the first coat, who spray evenly on the first coat? In my point of view this guy is a badass! Give credit when is due.. I'm in the painting business for 20 years and I paint costume homes, apartments, commercial buildings.
sparnt117 20 years in the business.. you should know better. First coat = back Roll “Always “
The guy doesn't know how to spray period, listen to any professionals talk about how to overlap etc. It makes no sense what he's doing, it's like he just taught himself and never listened to anyone with experience.
Overlap and use longer strokes and maybe a longer shield
what are all these experienced painters on the comment section doing watching a how to video?
Abe Arcade Games we’re watching a how “not “ to paint video!! Haha! Thought that was funny!!
It's not a how to. It's a display in speed. Maybe some of us want to improve
@@vgoad76 Hit the nail right on the head
Very fast but hard to see the finish. Not sure about going horizontally. I think i would put poly on ceiling so i could spray vertically and not have to hold the guard.
where do u get that metal panel ?? thx
Theres going to be some major holidays 😁😂
Hey, wassup. Did you thin the paint and what tip did you use? Thanks!
What tip did you used?
Hey buddy. Great job. Why you don't get the freaking paint dust. I can barely can see trough when I spray. Kudos
Luis Naranjo Jordan always get spray dust . use a 411 tip to minimize it.
AK47 SPRAYER Thank you buddy. God bless you!
nice bro you make it look easy
You must suck at painting too!
What’s that sliver thing he’s holding so the edges don’t get sprayer?
paint shield
What is the number of the nozzle are you using on the pistol ?
411
Hello im painter in México. Why is necesary back rolling ???? Thanks
Because backrolling enforces consistency. Just spraying it with a horrible pattern means a halfass job. It takes years of spraying to master coating consistency. Even then I still backroll afterwards. Interior or exterior
Thanks buddy
The reason you back roll is that you can’t touch up a spray finish unless you get the sprayer out to paint the whole wall again back roll give texture so if you need a small touch up later you got a fighting chance it will blend in that’s it the only reason
What kind of sprayer, are you using? Please
+Ailleen's All Recipes 490 graco
easy, fast ..and beautiful ...no need brush
Great job
What pressure? is that a reg tip or a ff and what size. I have been very scared to spray rooms that arent white on white.
Tahj Carter tip is 411. pressure I keep it right in the middle.
Tahj Carter it's a nitch.
This spray painting seems to work best when spraying whole room white.
This definitely for an apartment turnover. There is no way in hell you’d expect anything to touch up on those walls and that’s where the painter would be like “hey the paint doesn’t touch”
No back rolling? I hope it's a flat finish paint...
I use similar techniques but there is no way this came out even with just one coat and no backroll. Also I doubt the ceiling lines are acceptable. Great for 1st coat though. You Need to learn to not start and stop on the surfaces being sprayed. Thick laps stand out like a sore thumb.
probably a fin finish tip. This is fast. You got to stay on it and tighten it up as you go. Then sharpen it up to a fine point.
briandcare1 yea, and practice every time u get a chance
The guy spraying isn't even sprayed evenly, everyone painter has their own technique but from what it looks like it's not being applied evenly
Its only a first coat
why don't you paint up and down motion instead
Brushed silver Benjamin Moore?
I doubt it turned out very good with no back rolling. If there's no overspray, why did you wear a respirator?
I bet there was overspray all over the carpet, why would you not cover the floors before spraying, you know you can charge customers for it right?
Why wouldnt you have a spray extention and paint it top to bottom ? This is wrong way to spray
