Hello! I was wondering... When you mentioned that you're not only a photographer, you can also be a cat or a mouse, what did you mean by that? What's with the costumes? Thanks for the video!
Alessandra hi thanks for the question! Some ships have different shoots which includes costumes. One of the photographers is required to dress up in the costume whilst another photographs passengers posing with the character! Then passengers can buy the photo later. The costumes range from cat, mouse, sailers, pirate and some others. It’s mainly for family ships. Some people love dressing up, some hate it. It’s very hard work and requires a lot of energy in short bursts. I enjoyed it now and again as it’s pretty fun, but not something I’d like to do all day everyday.

C.M.H. STUDIOS hiya! Thanks for the comment. You should get taught all the different posing techniques from the manager and experienced team members when you begin. Hi. Thanks! There is normally a crew gym and sometimes a crew swimming pool. Some ships allow staff to use the passenger gym and spa when quiet.
Samson thanks for the response. Would you say the experience helped you with setting up your photography Buisness?
Warwick Redway it helped in many ways such as teaching people skills, sales, work ethics and overall technical photography skills. Which are all important if you plan to have your own photography business.
Can you resign if you are not comfortable with the job?
Yes... just make sure you are on land or you have to jump over board. JK
Of course.
@@Samsonimages 😂😂 thanks

Reuben Martin they provide a camera, but it’s good to take your own for when you are out and about in port.

Reuben Martin I mentioned in the video that I did not. So take from that what you will ;)
Can u suggest us some genuine cruise ship agencies?
Akhil Shaji I never used an agency as I applied directly to The Cruise Ship Photographers. I did come across this site www.agencycentral.co.uk/agencysearch/travel/skills/cruiseship/cruiseship.htm where you can search for agencies specifically in the cruise ship sector. Hope it helps!

Hello brother...i am from 2022...:)) and recently got call for 2nd round interview for photographer trainee at carnival cruise. so i wanted to know do i have to carry my personal camera or will the company provide me one or reimburse the amount of the worth camera bought by me. and yeah i am from india.
cheers...
Hi! I also have an interview in carnival cruise. I was wondering what kind of questions did they ask to you? Thank you :)
@@angelachristabeldiaz8407 hi...there
Well it was all basic questionnaire like introduce yourself, why you want to join as (my position) in cruise, then I got selected for 2nd round and later few days the another guy from that position's department took my interview. Asked me some technical questions of (my position).
That's it ..just be yourself and must know about the position u have applied.
All the best
@@vishalmina9748 did you undergo hirevue interview? How was it? Thanks :)
@@angelachristabeldiaz8407 yeah via hireview... I would say plz have a strong internet connection and try not to rely on mobile hotspot bcox u will always have some network issues...so either go to cyber cafe or find WiFi in silent or less noisy surroundings
Hi how was the second round interview
you can save money if your not reckless; video :D
so im joining my first ship next month as a photographer (through TSP). im cool with everything the job will throw at me...but, do the togs need to dress up often?? this is the only thing that gets me nervous for some weird reason. P&O Azura im joining.
Paul awesome good luck! You’re going in with a good attitude, so I’m sure you’ll enjoy it. Dress up formal wear varies from cruise to cruise, but it’s normally every other sea day you gotta dress up nicely. In a 7 day cruise there will probably be 3 formal nights for example. Hope that helps!
@@Samsonimages thanks for the reply, yeah it defo helps, i have to apologies though as i should have been more specific...when i mentioned dress up i was meaning in fancy dress, for example, at the gangway as a pirate or something lol..this makes me nervous thinking that :-o
Paul ah I see, sorry misunderstood. I saw it as an opportunity to unwind and have fun with some passengers, instead of shooting for a change. Especially in the cat or mouse costume because no one knows who is in there! I’m Sure you’ll do it a few times and you’ll get more confident with it. It does require a fair amount of energy though and can be exhausting depending on the type of passengers.
@@Samsonimages Crikey!!
@@paullittle29 I was way out of my comfort zone dressing up as a pirate and just felt stupid..worse than stupid..in the end i quit feeling like a looser.

Hi, not exactly sure what you mean sorry. Training to work on the ships? Or general photography tutorials ect... which yes, some do, some times cruise ship photographers host camera clubs and seminars for passengers.
Just worried and tensed up having never seen camera anytime

We need the hight for a photographer
How tall do you have to be? I do not know of any height restrictions for the position.
Good video! I've applied with Image group in order to work as a Photographer in a Cruise But they never reply... do you have any Link of an agancy to apply? I will really appreciate that tho
David Adonay Espinoza Garcia thanks mate! theshipsphotographer.com this is the company that I worked for. Not sure where you are based, but give them a try directly. :)
Its it very very stressful job
Yeah
Can you be a female photographer?
Yes of course you can! You can be transsexual, big or tall, white or black, gay or straight. Non of that matters as long as you get the job done and are a decent human to be around.
@@Samsonimages and the tricky question....if you have vitiligo or psoriasis you can? I know that with tattoos is difficult. Thank you for your answer 😣
Kola Cao tattoos is more down to the cruise lines, some be stricter than others. I have a tattoo on my right inner arm and had no issue, but if I had a sleeve or over the neck, then maybe issues. Where it comes to Vitiligo and Psoriasis, I’m not well educated on them, but when joining you have to undertake a medical to be sure you are fit physically and mentally to undergo the work life.
600£ a month?
I will never do that job!!!
Stock Image I know right?! Crazy. They sell you on “the life experience” which you will achieve.
However, I do believe the pay has now changed and is a bit more fair. Plus still consider very little living cost.
