    I have a few questions
    1. Do the workers change cruise ships a lot or do they usually stay on one ship
    2.do cruise workers change company a lot or do they stay in one company usually after contracts renew etc
    3. Do cruise workers have relationships outside
    4. Is there a chance cruise workers will remember passengers
    5. How long will a cruise worker stay a cruise worker and what will they do after
    6. Do cruise workers juggle many jobs (ex. A waiter in the day time is a pool worker)

    • @hayleymaybury2458
      @hayleymaybury2458  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good questions!
      1. It very much depends on the crew member and also what their job is. I have never done a contract on the same ship twice, but many people like to stay on the same ship.
      2. They mostly stay with the same company unless they are unhappy!
      3. Yes, you can have relationships with people who aren’t on the ship. We call it a long distance relationship.
      4. Yes
      5. This totally depends on the person and what their job is. When they go back to working on land they will generally do a similar job, but not always.
      6. Some do and some don’t. It is always laid out in your contract if you have multiple jobs and what they are :)

    • @jordanlee9477
      @jordanlee9477 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hayley Maybury so you are not allowed to have relationship with crew members?

    • @lunaleticia3058
      @lunaleticia3058 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jordan Lee I think she was answering the question with the “outside” in mind, that being said, you can have relationships with other crew members but you cannot under any circumstance have relations with passengers, that is immediate termination

    • @burningblue1254
      @burningblue1254 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      1. depends on your job, the length of the cruise i.e. a Trans Pacific 28 day, and how popular the cruise is i.e. 7 day Caribbean turnaround. Also how long you have worked for the line. After 15 years I have been on every ship. 2. Generally they stay with the company unless they are unhappy or they can get promoted by going to another cruise line. Several cruise lines are owned by the same corporation so its easier to switch, eg. RCI owns Royal Caribbean, Celebrity and Silver Seas. Carnival Corp. owns Princess, Cunard, Carnival, Regent etc. 3. You can have relationships outside of course, lots are married. But not with passengers. You are subject to immediate dismissal pending investigation and tribunal. 4. Frequent floaters I call them, you recognize from other cruises. Some people have thousands of sea days. 5. Some retire from the cruise line, some leave and do jobs they can get on land such as food and beverage. Former crew are very employable on land because of the high standards of the cruise lines.
      6. No. A waiter will work the buffet, the main dining room, and specialty restaurants. There is more than enough work to keep them busy. Deck department - deck attendants look after lounge chairs, etc keeping the open decks in order. Deck department Seaman ensures pools are working properly along with the mechanical dept.

    Hello,
    May I ask a few questions?
    1. Do you need an STCW Certificate to work on a Cruise Ship?
    2. What are the requirements to work on a Cruise Ship?
    3. What to put in a resume so you can really or no doubt can get in?
    4. What do the workers do when their ship has arrive on it's destination?
    5. Can they go outside the ship so they can travel?
    6. How long does the ship stay before its departure?
    7. What is the kind of sleeping space do the workers have?
    8. What is the common questions in an interview?
    9. What course in college did you took so you can work in a cruise ship or is their a recommended course?
    10. Do you know any salaries from the cruise ship that you might know?
    Thanks

    • @hayleymaybury2458
      @hayleymaybury2458  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi!
      1. Generally yes
      2. It varies massively depending on what position, and you will also need certain visas etc depending on where your ship goes
      3. I wish I could tell you haha! There’s no way to know for sure, and I auditioned rather than sending in a CV so I’m not quite sure
      4. It depends on your position. Some help dock the ship, some are cleaning, some are serving food, some are helping the guests get off the ship etc or if you have the day/morning off you can get off the ship
      5. Yes
      6. It varies anywhere from about 5 hours to 3 days
      7. Varies again. Can be bunk beds, or your own room.
      8. I didn’t interview - the audition process for performers is different so I’m not sure sorry
      9. I studied a bachelor of musical theatre. It will very much depend what position you’d like on the ship for what you should study
      10. I know my own salary, but that’s it! I don’t generally discuss that side of it with people :)
      Hope that helps!

    this is crazy..ive noticed that going on a cruise wasnt that expensive, and I have been on 3, and i noticed that a lot of workers on the ship were foreigners. And, do you think this is a reason why they require such long and intense hours working on board? I cant imagine, working 6-7 days a week, working 70 hours, often on your feet, working with people, etc. It sounds intense, yet for a lot of the people working who come from developing countries, its a great opportunity for them because they will be in better conditions than they were at home, and the work would be less intense and they'd make more money working on the ship...but still, its wild. For them, maybe its not that much work, but for americans or people from developed countries who arent used to such intense working conditions or long hours, it sucks that you would have to work so much and wouldnt be able to get more of a break.

    • @hayleymaybury2458

    • @hayleymaybury2458
      @hayleymaybury2458  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Guest entertaining is a lot of fun! You'll need to have at least one (normally 2) shows fully created with charts for the orchestra written up and video footage to promote and book you. Then go along to one of the guest entertainer agencies who will be able to book you onboard the ships :) x

    • @hayleymaybury2458

      Look for audition tours near you - most cruise lines hold open auditions that you can attend. And with a video reel - make sure it shows what you can do. Each cruise line will have a different way to submit reels, but they normally tell you on their website! Goodluck!! x

      Congratulations on your third contract! I’m thinking of doing a video about how to prepare for the first day of rehearsals. Would that be something you’d find interesting?
      For my rehearsal bag, I’d always bring pencils and erasers, a notebook, snacks, rehearsal shoes (either chorus heels or jazz shoes generally), water, and a massage ball (to release tension while I’m warming up vocally and throughout the day)! Hope that’s helpful! xx

Maybe check with your doctor - they would have a better idea as I’m sure most of them do pre-employment medicals for similar countries x
