JUST GREAT AND YES MORE PLEASE! I see you know how to have lots of fun. When I lived in ND, I learned all about snowmobiling. That was great. My brother-in-law had several out on his farm. The wife and I would go up for the weekend and Monday I was at work getting a break. Having all the right cold weather gear made it a huge amount of fun.
Great to see a Mini on ice! It's good to see Steve and Cassie driving together.

I didn't know that racing on frozen lakes was even a thing (we don't have a lot of frozen lakes to race on in Australia). Looks like a lot of fun, if a little bumpy. And the Mini isn't exactly known for having a cosseting ride. I'm old enough that they were still around in large numbers when I first started to drive. Among my friends they were affectionately known as "Bricks", basically because that's how they ride. However, they were also about the best fun you could have on four wheels. Go-karts for grown-ups. My mates and I used to joke that the only bad things about driving a Mini were that you had to drive into potholes and out the other side. And that occasionally you would get stuck in the tyre tread of semi-trailers. Oh, and you definitely wouldn't want to have a big prang in one.

I was driving my Datsun F10 just after a blizzard in Indiana and just after watching ‘A Clockwork Orange’. My right tires got stuck in a snowmobile trail that suddenly veered to the left and went over a ramp just off the road. My right tires hit the ramp perfectly and flipped me on my roof. We ran to the nearest house and our request for help looked like the home invasion in the movie. They couldn’t take us seriously as we were smiling at the similarities with our incident and Alex’s pleas for help.
Some friends stopped and helped right the car and it started right up. They were surprised, but I had just put a new carburetor in the day before. It would have been more ironic if it had happened in my TR-7, but I didn’t have that car for a couple more years.

Minis used to be the only cars that could get around when it snowed where I grew up.

That looks like huge fun. I have rally crossed a Mini but never ice raced. Not sure my back would stand it now.

That Mini is great, I like the meatball with the cutouts so the numbers appear as the car color, as opposed to black numbers on a white meatball, that's sharp, especially with a good color like it has
Looks like a proper bone shaker, driving out there on the lake. Then again I suppose ice gets kicked aside and re freezes in clods. I can imagine it was great fun although I wouldn't want to be spinning my tyres on the spot whilst on ice.
That's a sweet Mini. Glad to see it getting driven and not just sitting around doing nothing.
The little Mini's low ground clearance is a bit against it with the big berm down the middle of the track. Nevertheless it looks like a lot of fun, just like back in the Monte Carlo days...

Looks very rough. When we raced our karts on the ice we plowed the lake/track down to the ice so it was very smooth.
They are not allowed to plow anymore, after last months race they had two drunks on snowmobiles get hurt going over the piles left by the plow.

Sure hope the Minis heater is working overtime. That is probably one time of the year I would rather be in front of a warm fire with a large mug of hot chocolate with a touch of Baileys inside it. That or on a warm caribbean beach in shorts and a T with a very large iced spiced rum and coke...lol
That's something I also want to do someday, riding/racing on ice.
I hate to say this but I would rather pop some hole through the ice and bring home food for supper. A couple of nice Walleye make a great trophy.

That looks very cold, surprised to see lack of grip using those studs!
Ground clearance was the problem, the exhaust only had about an inch and a half.
So how did it stack up against the mod cars there?

Perhaps a vehicle with a little more suspension would be an advantage...

It would be interesting to know how your time compared so some of the other cars there. I understand it would be meaningless to compare against some of the more serious machinery out there just curious.
I had a chance to race the ice at Little Wall Lake about 25 years ago. If I would have had a spare car I probably would have. Lots of fun and what else are you going to do in Iowa in the middle of winter? BTW the feels like is -28° this morning.
Wish I could race there but it hasn't been frozen enough at Little Wall Lake for a long time. I think the region would put one on there again if they could.
