      Sim EC works in blocks rather than in BR ranges. So this block is around 6.3 to 7.7 maximum. No matter what happens you will never face an aircraft above 7.7 which is meteor and 262 territory. It's a nice block for late war air combat without having to worry about being up tiered to missiles if that's not what you are in the mood for.

  • @hhale
    @hhale 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I noticed that in VR you fly very near the ground, but in realistic battles, you generally flew pretty high up consistently, diving down for attacks and then at some point climbing back up again. Why the different tactics?

    • @MagzGTV
      @MagzGTV  3 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      In RB you have markers and a 3rd person camera, Markers remove the ability to use any sneeky air combat tactics as once you get within a certain range a big red box pops up over you that tells the enemy your name, your aircrafts name, your exact location and your range. the 3rd person camera allows the player to look in pretty much every direction around the aircraft without blind spots. This is why RB is always a race to altitude, it's the only position that gives a reliable advantage when taking the markers and situational awareness offered by the 3d camera into account.
      In sim your just a black dot, no marker, no range, no name or info. in addition you are limited to a cockpit view which significantly limits your view in several directions including down and back with below and behind being impossible to see on some aircraft. Flying low masking your black dot against dark green trees and then doing pop up attacks from below an enemy in there blind spot is both a real air combat tactic and a reliable one in game once the players are all limited in vision by the nature of sim.

      @@MagzGTV Interesting. Thanks!

    • @MadManchou
      @MadManchou 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not to mention that by its very nature, the "meta" sustains itself. There is little point climbing above 3000m in sim because not only you don't get as big an advantage as in RB, but also there is simply nothing to do up there since everyone is down on the deck.
      This does make high altitude a good place to take refuge too sneak around

  • @Lemonality_Nationality
    @Lemonality_Nationality 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Flying in vr is super hard for the fact that you have limited vision like real life, I would see myself rolling my eyes into the back of my head cause I was used to the flat screen 3rd person

    • @remigusker6024
      @remigusker6024 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Imo it's the other way around. VR is easier because you can keep your eyes on the target all the time then bring the plane on target. Way, way easier and faster than 3rd person with a clumsy freelook.

      VR controllers? I don't use VR controllers only the headset. VR controllers are the absolute worst things you can use in a flight sim or game because they give you zero feedback on your Inputs.
      A cheal joystick is better by far, I personally use a full hotas setup specifically for flight simming.

    Ah was looking at getting a G2 myself, the specs are very appealing but I've heard less than stellar things about the controller tracking for 'full vr' games. I don't play those often, but I do enjoy them enough ( beat saber and such) that that has me worried some.

    • @MagzGTV
      @MagzGTV  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven't had a single issue with beat saber yet, the controller tracking seems to only be an issue when you play something that has your hands down in the low position (by your sides) for extended periods. Could maybe be an issue in a VR RPG but I haven't played one yet to find out.

      @@ForeverDoubting I own an oculus quest. The controllers are tracked through cameras on the had. When the cameras can see the controller, it tracks just fine- totally seamless. Sometimes the controller is obstructed from view of the cameras, or is just out of the tracking zone, and the controller looses tracking, but as long as you look more or less at what you are doing, it works just fine.

    Magz, I don't know about others but I I would enjoy watching these VR videos much more, if they looked like normal sim battles or even better, with a "third person view" of the plane. Also, the cam view of you enjoying VR is not adding much more than an unnecessary distraction, at least for my attention span. Otherwise, I'm happy you've found some way to enjoy WT again, as these are the videos I can relate to and enjoy, so I'll keep watching for sure.

    • @MagzGTV
      @MagzGTV  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I can't make them look like normal sim battles, they are not they are VR, what appears on my screen in VR is a stereoscopic image (I.E two rendered screens) showing my left and rights eye projections in HMD. the normal screen you see when flying on a flat screen doesn't exist to record.
      While I would like to include more 3rd person camera work getting those external shots can double the time it takes to make the video, I basically have to do everything twice assuming the replay of the battle isn't corrupted to begin with which it often is. I rarely have the time to spend 16 hours to make a 20 minute video anymore and that is about how long it takes.
      I have a business I'm trying to get started in Covid outside of TH-cam and I have my family and commitments.
      I put them in when I can but I wouldn't expect them all the time or often, this is just how it is now and I understand not everyone will like it but. . . . can't please everyone.
      "he cam view of you enjoying VR is not adding much more than an unnecessary distraction" - this I disagree with, and i think it's coming from your point of not liking VR.
      That camera isn't "Me enjoying VR" that camera is me showing my head movements in the real world in relation to what you are seeing in cockpit. Without it you don't have any reference no how I'm having to move in the real world to generate movements in the space.
      The new target for this channel is to show VR flight summing and that includes not just what is happening in the HMD.

      @MagzGTV  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I really can't understand why, I mean a video is a video, your not strapped into the headset. But fair enough, that sucks but you may as well get used to it here.
      It's not just that it's great to play, VR has given me my eyesight back, I can see in VR in a way I haven't been able to see with my disability in over ten years. Frankly I don't really care anymore if VR videos bother the eyesight of able bodies people as looking at a flat screen has reached the point where I can not fly a fighter in a sim setting without suffering serious migraines and high levels of eyestrain and even then I die more often that not because I can not see the targets.
      I'm sure you'll learn to watch it, or you'll unsub because it's not pleasant, but I'm not taking your pleasure in watching a 20 minute video over my ability to see and the pain generated by my disability while making that video for you.
