On this channel we like to do a lot of dogfighting most videos are some sort of dogfight between 2 different aircraft as we explore their different capabilities. From time to time I like to dabble in Virtual Reality, I think VR is a great new technology and I love to show that stuff off for the channel from time to time.
If you enjoy war thunder or Microsoft flight simulator 2020 or even dogfighting in Battlefield 2042, consider getting yourself into Digital Combat Simulator by Eagle Dynamics, the Combat side of Aviation with the BVR and Dogfights really provides a different and interesting perspective on aviation. You can fly all kinds of combat aircraft including the F-16, F-15, F-14, JF-17, Su-27, Mig-29, Mirage and the F-18 Hornet along with many other aircraft and helicopters like the Ka-50 and Mi-8.

I'm guessing prop wash from a P-38, 47, F4U, etc. would turn them into match sticks.
Plus less closure rate should = more time for target selection.
      I'll take a US classic, the P-47. The 8 .50 cal's would, it'd be flat out ugly! 😎
Rude & crude with a tude! The '47 could probably cross the T on a knife edge Camel, slice the wings off (one side but the pair!) & cruise into the sunset!

Could you imagine being in the surviving aircraft in that first wing? Out of nowhere half or more of your buddies just seem to randomly explode mid air, right in front of you, no flames initially, no visual on air defenses or hostile aircraft, then all of the sudden you hear the roar of 30mm hellfire and the scream of a jet.
I mean shit, the 262 could come in from heights they probably didn't think possible, at least by anything but maybe a blimp/zepplin. Not to mention was carrying basically artillery compared to what they had at the time.

I was in New York City for Independence Day 2000, and there was a flypast of all current large planes the USAF and USN had in their inventory. They formations went up the Hudson River, and the four F-14s in diamond formation were so freaking loud that the vibrations triggered the anti-theft alarms in most of the cars on the parking deck we were watching from. Imagine what their sonic boom would do to those canvas contraptions…

We all know how A10 Brrrt sounds from the ground and looks on target, some even know that for Viper's 20mm, but I really wonder how a 37 mm, 6 x 50 cal., 23 mm MiG-21 and 30 mm MiG-29 long strafes would look and sound on target!

The technical progress during that time period was just INSANE!!! In 1917 they had to fly and fight around in flying kites; only 28y later the Schwalbe "conquered" the skies. A fight in a 109 variant would be much more interesting. Go on again an make a "time travel" in a 109 Kurfurst.

Think about this. The F-117 was over 20 years old before it was forced to become public. Similar story with the B-2. Using that theory you know that there are already highly classified and very capable aircraft and weapons out there right now that will only be known to our children, or in our old age. Another thought, is look how far aviation has come in such a short time. We went from Sopwith Camels to ME-262's in just 30 years, and to the likes of the F-22 in under 100 years. Food for thought.

Enjoy the fun, but with 360 rounds total you'll soon run out of cannon shells. Then assuming there's an airfield with a runway long enough for the 262 in 1917 (why would there be?), and something like kerosene that the engine could run on, you'd get 2-3 flights before the engines were worn out.
Trench warfare and artillery duels had produced a stalemate- if either side had air superiority, and the generals fully realized what they could do with it, that side would have a definite edge.

In answer to your question, the Entente still win WW1, even against 1 time travelling Me 262. In 1918, the Entente have more aircraft flying in the sky over the Western Front at any one time (during daylight hours) than a single Me 262 has 30 mm cannon shells in its magazines.
No matter how great your technological advantage, you can't win when you're outnumbered 1,000 to 1.

Seriously, what is most surprising, is that these WW1 planes and the Me-262 are less than 30 years apart. Relative to 2022, that would be about 1994 (28 years)!

I expected this outcome when the F22 was pitched against the P51, but that’s not what happened. I would have thought the F22 would have had a similar energy advantage over the P51 that the 262 demonstrates over these kites.

I'm surprised that the 30mm rounds seemed to explode so frequently. I'd expect them to pass through the wings, and even parts of the fuselage, just leaving a slightly larger hole.
Hitting the engine, though, would be an instant kill.
