    I make a A-Rig's for around 5$ each using high quality Owner or P-Line parts. This is a great way to make a quality A-rig at cheaper than most packs of worms. A lot of the tools I use are common household tools and you don't need a wire former to create loops for the baits, be creative if you don't want to buy a wire former. I've made the loops with needle nose when I first started, it just took a little longer.
    Parts to make a 5 Wire/4 Blade A-Rig 8"/7"/5" Arms:
    Wire - STAINLESS STEEL STRAIGHT LURE SHAFT WIRE FORM 0.035
    Search for these on ebay. 13-15$ for 50 pieces
    You can get 10" wire for the Main Arm and 16" wire for the Secondary/Dummy Arms or just get
    16" wire and cut to size for the ALL the arms.

      Thanks man, It's a great system and great rig...the only real issue most people have is finding the right solder/flux to use on stainless steel. It took me a while to find what worked best for me because stainless steel can be tricky to solder. I've now made over 1500 and it is a very solid rig that anyone can make at home. Thanks for the view/watch.

      Hey thanks for the comment. I spent over 9 months making these the way I wanted before making the video and easily spent over 2k$ invested in trying different types of hardware. This is one of the first videos I made on TH-cam and I know I'm bad on camera but at least they're made pretty darn solid. I've made over 1200 of them now, I have over 13 different local pro's using them and they continue to produce. I am still using the same A-Rig that I was using when I made this video too. Make'em right and they'll last for a long time. Thank you for the view and comment. Tight lines.

      Any time, I made this when I just started makin videos so it was super awkward lol. Just a heads up but some of the links to the parts may not be good anymore. With all the shortages happening I'm even having problems finding parts now. When you order the crimps take notice if you're ordering "ID" Inner diameter or "OD" Outer diameter as different companies measure differently. It's a solid rig, I've made over 600 now for amateurs and pro's for freshwater and saltwater and everyone seems to really like them. Tight lines.

As a matter of fact I just had a local pro place an order for 10 more, he just told me he's caught several striper over 15lbs on the same rig so I thought that was cool. Soldering stainless steel can be a pain so if you're having problems with the soldering you may have to try other types of solder but you still have to use flux with any of the solder.

      It really does save a bunch of $$ makin it on your own. You'll probably have to substitute some of the parts I listed because of Covid and inventory problems everywhere but the make up is still the same. I only bought one from the store and was super disappointed in it. Broke it on the first day and it cost me like 20$, a lot of store bought ones are complete garbage. Just make sure you have the right rod to throw the rigs or you'll end up with a sore arm haha. I use a 7'4" Medium Heavy rod with a 7:1 reel. Tight lines man.

      This was like the 3rd video I ever made so it wasn't real great. I'm gettin a little more comfortable makin videos so I've been thinkin of makin an updated one. Plus I've made about 1500 more A-Rigs since this video and have changed a technique or 2 along the way. I can cut out a lot of the "Fluff" and just get right into the build and shorten the video while leaving in all the important details, adding close ups to the rig etc...I could probably get it to about a 15-20 minute video. Thanks for the tip, I appreciate the comment and I'll work on another updated video of the build.

    I've seen others finish the top (heads) with epoxy putty. Great looking lure !

    • @proambass8027
      @proambass8027  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the comment...There's a couple reasons why I don't like the heads (lead/epoxy/putty/wood), Have you ever fished an A-rig and it didn't swim straight? It's because the heads need a swivel on them. If your arms aren't bent exactly the same they will spin, swim sideways and the bass won't eat the rig. Having a barrel swivel for the head 100% eliminates that problem and allows the A-rig to swim "True and straight" immediately when it hits the water. I made them like the G-Funk CA Rigs for reference. You can add a swivel on the head but you're introducing another point of failure onto an A-Rig. You ever notice where a swivel breaks? 9 times out of 10 it's on the snap part, at least for me. The head of these rigs are barrel swivels and the wire is formed through the barrel swivel, the only way for that to break is if the barrel portion breaks which is why a quality barrel swivel needs to be used. I use Owner Hyperwire only for those head swivels. Good luck brother and thanks for watchin and leaving a comment.

      @@proambass8027 I am about to start making my own, I had my ideas to use epoxy heads and make a mold from alumalite. If you have ever seen brown dog tackle A rigs I was planning on matching them. They are 30$ a peice and the smallmouth love them up here in NY. After watching this I’m contemplating going with your design. I lost 3 yesterday in the first hour of the tournament because I’m fishing white water near dams on the river and 90$ flushed down the toilet haha.

    • @proambass8027
      @proambass8027  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bigbassgang8345 Man that sucks losing 90$ on 3 rigs. I’ve never heard of Brown Dog A-Rigs but checked them out after you mentioned them and they know their stuff. Check out the Oval Split rings for the baits instead of the Round Split Rings. Many people don’t know this but oval split rings make your bait run “Truer”. You don’t see that on many Rigs…unless you look in my box. Hahaha. I use barrel swivel to oval split rings though not oval split ring to snap swivel. Making a mold and using Epoxy would be awesome if they hold up and the arms don’t pull out. I cant see the arms in the head but 1 of the biggest advantages to using my method is the arms can never pull off the rig. The solder can break I’m sure but if you had a 10lb bass on and it broke the solder joint (rated for 35k psi) the side of the arm with out the bass would slide up to the head and wouldnt be able to slide all the way off the rig. If the solder joint broke. Let me know if you make the mold, would love to see it. How’d you do in the tournament?

    you definitely rocked the A Rig with your design. I built one with the swivel and snap rings to attach the bait and it is awesome. runs straight as an arrow and has zero line twist. it does take some time to change out baits with them all on split rings. just curious as to when you use the Pline Cross Lock swivels with snaps what size do you use? I will never pay $30 for an A Rig again. Thanks!!! im loving your channel!

    • @proambass8027
      @proambass8027  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Right on man, glad you made some and they worked out for you. I've caught a ton of fish on them over the last couple years and they freakin hold up! I used the same A-rig for almost a year before I snagged it on a stump. Parts are harder to get, prices of the parts went up some but I can still build a great A-rig for 1/5th (for myself) the cost of one at the store with the same hardware on it. If I'm making A-rigs for guys that want to use the A-rigs for Striper's I'll put on Size #3 (rated for 77lbs) because they're rated for more weight. If they're for bass I'll put on Size #5 (rated for 48lb), I want them as small as possible but still with a good weight rating for them. It would crush me to put to small of a Crosslock on the rig and have someone hook up with a 10+ pounder and have the swivel break. I haven't tried any Crosslocks smaller than Size #5. I'm finding most people are ordering the P-Line Crosslock swivels and they've been holding up with no problems with those size ratings. The biggest striper caught so far I've been told about has been a little over 28lbs and the biggest bass is still 10.03lbs both using the P-Line Crosslocks. Tight lines brother.

Burnt myself 3 times in my first 3 pours so I gave all my equipment away. lol. 900 degree's of molten metal is nothing to play around with, I know my limitations hahaha. I tried coiled wire and i just couldn't get it straight. So i buy straight wire in 10", 12" and 15" off ebay from a guy, he's never run out and ships fast to me cause he's in my State. 50 pieces of 10" wire is like 11$ and 50 pieces of 12, or 15" wire is like 14$. Honestly, all the small parts like the crimps have been getting harder and harder to find, so I found 1 company that I liked, ordered everything they had and I pretty much stopped making and selling them. I just have parts for myself now. People expect me to have all this stuff all the time like I do this for my job so I kinda gave up trying to sell them. It would take me hours of researching to find parts sometimes and when I got them, a lot of the times they wouldn't work or the quality would be to poor for me to use. Companies sell those crimps differently, some use inner diameter, some use outer diameter to measure their size and honestly they're not all the same size even with comparing inner to inner diameter between companies. I ordered hundreds of dollars worth of parts I couldn't use or return. But I do enjoy making them and what I have on video is definitely a solid rig to make and worth the time if you like to throw A-rigs.

I make these rigs on my free time outside of work so I can only make so many per day after spending time with the family. It will probably take me about a week to get them made. If that's ok with you feel free to send me an email at d75bender@gmail.com

      @@ney7931 Feel free to email me at d75bender@gmail.com However, I have Covid Pneumonia currently and I'm behind in my rigs. I can't give you a time frame as I'm not out of the hospital yet and don't anticipate being able to make more for another week or so. Sorry for the delay. Stay safe and tight lines.

    What head size did you use for the BOggs wire tool

    • @proambass8027
      @proambass8027  ปีที่แล้ว

      I only make "Flex Rigs" which are 0.035" diameter wire but what's considered a "Normal" A rig diameter is 0.040". So I chose the C-Head which is for forming wire 0.032" to 0.040" to allow me to form both sizes of wire.

    Those look awesome I've broke three different a rigs in the last 2 weeks 2 different types one said titianum lol it broke the fastest been useing them for striper and hybrid but have also caught black bass as well I have caught 12lb hybrid and 12 lb stripers there pretty rough on them and I've even upgraded my hardware I'm really surprised I haven't caught 2 at a time YET. Anyway I was wondering if I could purchase some from you for now and I will definitely make some in the near future? Thanks for taking the time to make the video.Im a new sub

      Oh that's cool man, thanks for the sub. I've only had 2 break and that was when I made them with cheaper head swivels. Since I made the switch to Owner I haven't had a single one break. Not sayin they can't, I just haven't had any. I've got one guy on IG who throws my rigs and he's caught over 250 different fish on just 1 of these rigs I made for him. Message me on IG so you don't have to give out your personal info here. It's A-Rig season right now and I'm makin a ton but I'll see what I can do for you. I've gotta make 30 tomorrow on my day off and I'm goin fishin on my other day off haha. But hit me up, I'll see what I can do for you. Tight lines brother.

    Hey I’m having some trouble with soldering and figured I’d reach out . What wire do you order ? I got some stainless steel wire from eBay that seems great but I can’t get the solder to weld with the wire of the a rig

    • @henrybrown9451
      @henrybrown9451 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m using flux and the same silver solder as you . But it just beads right off

    • @proambass8027
      @proambass8027  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@henrybrown9451 Boy it can be a pain to solder Stainless Steel, you have to use Flux like you're doing and I've only used the flux in the video and keep ordering the same stuff. I've tried a ton of different types of solder because most of it sucks and doesn't bond well with Stainless Steel. The Solder I now use is currently unavailable on Amazon but I buy that stuff 10 tubes at a time so thankfully I still have some left. I'll post the link at the bottom for the solder along with the wire link from Ebay that I use. I'm pretty sure you can just do a google search and find this solder else where though.

    2 question do you ever pour a head on them and what do you think it cost you to make them
    thanks Bryan

    • @proambass8027
      @proambass8027  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I bought all the stuff to pour heads on these A-Rigs but honestly im not patient enough with 900 degree lead and I kept burning myself so I got rid of it before something bad happened. LoL. Pouring lead for the heads seemed way easier but for me it made it more difficult. The mold I ordered was from Do-It molds and you’d have to do some custom etching to the mold also to get it to work. It costs me about 6.50$ in parts to make an A-rig with all Owner Hyperwire parts for the baits. They sell the same A-Rigs I make on TackleWarehouse for about 30$ each. Its the quality of parts that drive the prices up.

    • @proambass8027
      @proambass8027  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I also buy a lot of my parts in bulk so it makes it a little less expensive too. So maybe 7$ per rig of you’re not buying in bulk with these Covid prices. Pre-covid it cost me 4.75$ per rig.
