Thank you for taking us along and letting me reminiscent of my trek in July 2006. Now I want to return with my husband in our retirement years. Beautiful ! and kudos to your parents...slow & steady wins the race. Goosebumps !
The hike was wonderful and we're happy it brought back some great memories for you! 😊 Yes slow and steady does win the race - especially when there's so much beautiful landscape to see around us! 🤗⛰️
We are planning a trip to Peru and have hiking to Machu Picchu on our list - Now we have a tough decision to make - Hike the Inca trail or the Salkantay! Thanks for sharing this video and providing some great information!
We're glad you enjoyed the video! There are so many great hikes in the area that it can be so hard to pick. We heard the Salkantay is more immersive into nature than the Inca Trail so we opted for that one but honestly, you can't go wrong. A trip to Peru is amazing no matter what you do! 😊 Feel free to ask us if you have any questions about the hiking or Machu Picchu! Happy travels!
@@nicoleandmico which hotel or airbnb did you guys stay before the journey started with the tour guys and did you guys leave Cusco immediately or went back to a hotel
O that's awesome! We're sure you two will have an amazing time! Machu Picchu was one of our best memories in South America 😊 happy planning and good luck!
What a beautiful hike. We’ve been hesitant to do the Inca Trail because of how busy we heard it can be. We didn’t know about this option until watching your video. Thanks for sharing!
Oh good! That is so great to hear. As you saw in the video, we had a wonderful time doing the Salkantay trail and would recommend it to anyone! It is great that you have a whole month in Peru and can take the time to enjoy the hike up to Machu Picchu :)
Great video. I also recently finished the Salkantay Trek in May and it was amazing. Did you take all of that drone footage? We were told that drones weren't allowed; we even saw people getting yelled at for using them. Very curious if you had any issues shooting with a drone.
Yes, we saw that you had been as well! We did take all of the drone footage in this video. Our guide was incredibly helpful when it came to getting drone shots. We got to Humantay Lake quite late in the day and there weren't many people there, so our guide spoke with the security guys and they said we were OK to fly because there were so few other people around. We also made it to the top of the Salkantay Pass before it got too busy and flew the drone straight away there without any issues as well, but our guide did tell us to make it snappy. We weren't sure if that meant it wasn't typically allowed, or just that he wanted us to be courteous about the noise the drone makes (although we just have a mini 2 so it's pretty quiet), but we were able to fly it without any issues. It's really interesting to hear you saw people get yelled at for using drones, it sounds like we may have gotten very lucky
@@nicoleandmico Wow, that's great. I mean, that drone footage was amazing and looked great in your video. I'm glad that they let you, and that your guide was cool about it. It was mostly OUR guide yelling at people with drones hahaha so there is no way I could have gotten away with that! But your footage looks fantastic. :)
We remember seeing some of Art's stories about your guide. I actually reached out to him to see what company you went with so we could be sure to avoid them, so THANK YOU for being honest about them so we didn't have a similar experience!
What was your budget for this trip? Is the private tour for the whole group or individual, just curious im planning to visit cusco in the next month this video was awesome 😁
Hey Jeff! Thanks for letting us know you enjoy the video. It's great to hear you liked it! The 4 night/5 day tour goes for $500USD per person if you do a group, and has higher prices for private tours that are dependent on the number of people. That includes your entrance ticket Machu Picchu, the train back to Cusco, and all the food, accommodations, and porters along the way. And of course your guide! As you can see we had an excellent time and would highly recommend the guided tour 😁
CUSCO magical place, DEFINITELY ON MY bucket liST. fantastic VIEWS.
Jaw dropping views and heartfelt scenes with mum and dad 💛 love you guys
Love you too!

Muchas gracias por mostrar lo maravilloso que es mi país. Bendiciones para ustedes. Saludos 👋.
¡Realmente es tan hermoso! Gracias por la cálida bienvenida 😊
The wilderness and the landscapes are breathtaking and uniquely beautiful. Drone shots are just fantastic.
Thank you so much! We loved capturing the beauty of the area. It was so great to be able to fly the drone in such a beautiful spot!
What amazing hikes! I love the "what we're further down the road?!" expressions of your parents, totally priceless.
Haha thanks! None of us could believe how far they got in just a couple of hours!
Gracias por visitar mi país, saludos.
Nosotros amamos Peru! 🇵🇪🥰
Nice video! thank you for showing those beautiful landscapes of my country.
This was one of our favourite memories yet. Thank you for having such a beautiful country 😊

شكراً جزيلاً! كانت الجبال مذهلة وتمتعنا بالنزهة عبر الطبيعة. اتمنى لك يوم جيد! 😀
Hey Nicole.. Thanks for the info/ How many hours a day you walk on this trek walk?
My country is beautiful 🇵🇪. Welcome guys, and u must visit Iquitos (peruvian jungle) and also " las líneas de nazca" in Ica
Thank you so much for the suggestions and for watching! We are loving Peru so much 😁
Hi guys! Sorry if I’ve missed it somewhere in your video but what time of year did you guys do the Salkantay trek? 😊
Hey! No worries. We hiked in late June/early July 😁

Oh man, its really crappy that your guide wasn't happy to get some drone footage. It's such a beautiful spot to see from above!

Hey guys! I was wondering how you did to charge your phones on this hike? Was there a way to do it in the restaurants you guys went to?
There are charging plugs at almost every refugio but there are a limited amount so best to use them as early as possible.
