My South American travels ended with the epic, self-guided trip to the Lost City of the Incas, Machu Picchu. The Salkantay route is the only self-guided trek to Machu Picchu... weaving through the Peruvian Andes for a challenging, scenic, breathtaking trek, while on a budget.

As an archaeologist, this video footage was so dang moving. I was legit teary eyed by the end. What an incredible journey and to get to see those ruins in person, what a treat.
Linnea, at the point in your film where you show the first jaw-dropping scenery, I began to feel tears well up. I am 68 and I have sat in a chair, working as an accountant, for 35 years. I know a journey like this will be nothing I experience on earth. Then, in your film, you say you were brought to tears. Never let those who are mean get you down. Maybe they realize the same but the have a different reaction. You are bringing the most beautiful gift to the world and to women who never knew they could. I am awarding you the TH-cam Most Inspirational Documentary award. Thank you and may the road always rise to meet you!

Never have I felt your love of film and editing come through more than in this video. I truly cannot express just how well you were able to capture your trek; to the point that when you reached Machu Picchu, I was audibly gasping, as if I were seeing it's silhouette through clouds with you. Took this same journey back in 2002 with my wife. The landscape, mountains, trails and people have brought back so many wonderful memories. We were very lucky to have sunshine the whole trip and hiking through the Sun Gate upon our arrival to witness the awe inspiring view & ruins of Machu Picchu is forever burned into my brain. I think it's time to go back after 22 yrs... Thank you!

Oh wow. That touched me deeply. I've seen so many documentaries on Peru/Machu Pichu. But, this was so personal. The perspective you presented gave so much more information and feeling. This is significant to me because my grandfather's heritage is Peruvian. Seeing the different terrains explained to me what my personal draw is to rainforest and mountains as well as high desert areas. You're becoming quite the story teller! Well done and highly appreciated. Keep shining.

As I sat and watched this video and you reached your destination I suddenly felt chills running through me. I can’t imagine the questions that went through your mind as you stood there taking it all in. Many of which will never have answers. Things that are left in the winds of time. Thank you for making such a special video. I did a lot of backpacking and hiking in my younger years. I am 70 and may never be able to do that again, but I lived being thete with you through the video. So many magical moments starting with that amazing lake through to the final ruins of ancient times. Amazing journey.

Great Adventure, Last July I was there, same hiking through Salkantay Trek Agency, same places, same excitement, but no rain. I know what you felt walking on these beautiful picks and canyons... getting snacks on each little village, eating palta, papaya, granadilla, "soo good and refreshing", roasting and grinding coffee beans; crossing those little and unstable bridges... so much fun! and finally resting in Aquas Calientes.. eating so tasty food, before getting to Machu Picchu on the next day... all this was a magic experience that I can recommended to anyone... loved your journey!

I just kept saying WOW, again & again & again. What a great video, majestic scenery, amazing history, & a couple of tough hiker/travelers. But, seriously, how do you girls hike practically barefooted? Oh my gosh, my feet were hurting. I could just feel the blisters. LOL. The mountains, waterfalls, altitude, the preserved ancient history...makes me feel closer to our Maker. I loved your openness, & how you expressed your feelings. Beautiful! I was in Macchu Pichu five years ago, after catching the first bus of the day up. To sit alone and just watch the magnificence of that extraordinary place in those incredible mountains, felt like such a gift. To see it again here, was a treat, plus your beautiful trek.

I was getting to tears at the beauty. I had no idea Peru looked like that. You guys are higher than Mt. Whitney which is the highest peak I've ever hiked. I remember having to consciously breath. Thank you for sharing this with us.

Like so many of the comments here, I don't think I can quite capture how emotional I am after watching. The tears came first when you sat on top of the mountain, feeling their humbling power, and then again when you described Machu Picchu itself. Documentaries don't do the place justice, but this... this is powerful, this is talent, this is raw and poetic. Thank you so much Linnea ❤
The only request I'd have if I could is that we have subtitles for the spanish (if only the spanish that you can understand). But then it also might take away from the rawness of the film. So maybe not.. hehe that's why you're the filmmaker and I'm the admirer 🥹
