Thank you for acknowledging that acne-prone skin can be sensitive/dry/tight and not just oily! This is something that even my dermatologist does not get. Loved your advice!

    • @HereDiianas

Exactly !!!!! I wasted so many years with Dermatologists as a teen because of that. I had strong acne and their treatments would always make my skin looks worse. Only after I found ONE dermatologist who told me I have sensitive skin as well I was I able to see improvements. He told me to closely look at how my skin reacts to some ingredients/products. The result was my skin can't stand alcohol denat, synthetic or natural perfume, ess oil of course, leave on glycolic or salycilic acid product, rose water, witch hazel, coconut oils, many plant extracts, tap water yes even TAP WATER... The treatment against acne all had at least one or more of the above so I was not crazy, it did make my skin worse. And even today at 38 I find new ingredients everyday but my oily acne skin is under control now and I know how to deal with it .... All thanks to that ONE dermatologist.

I’ve had acne since I was about 12. I still have it at 31, but it’s been under control for years with skincare and lifestyle. If I had access to dermatologists on TH-cam as a teen, I would have avoided a lot of suffering and scarring!

@@mariepier9016 I would honestly recommend you to consult an expert. Each human's body, skin, etc is a unique story. I had my thyroid gland removed 3 years ago. My treatments have hugely changed in order to adapt to the medications I have to use. Due to that, one thing, for example, has been told to me never to do: botox since it reduces the efficiency of the hormonal supplements I use. Told to me by: the surgeon, endocrinologist and my dermatologist. So, it comes down to longtime consistency in: 1. cleaning my skin every 3 months - derma clearing method: clears, exfoliates the skin with 3 types of acids and deep hydration as the final step (in-office), 2. mesotherapy (in-office) only 3 times a year (during colder days), 3. consistently using dermatologist recommended products at home that may vary depending on numerous factors (current skin condition, time of the year, regular medical check-ups and results, etc).

I am going to be honest, my skin cannot tolerate chemical exfoliant. The BHA and Benzoyle Peroxide irritated my skin and gave me pigmentation. Now I only have small zits on my chin so I decided to switch back to my tried and tested ST. IVES which I've used for almost 18 years and never had any problems. I KNOW people hate it and Shereene is against it. But my skin LOVES it. The lawsuit against it was dismissed due to lack of evidence that it is bad for the skin. And I've used it for a very long time to know if there was any long term damage to my skin. It didn't. Retinoid didn't help with hormonal acne but it did help with other types of acne. I just used the St. ives with small beads so it won't irritate the small acne on my chin. Nothing worked for me aside from st. Ives. I love it and my skin loves it. But just because it works for me, it doesnt mean it will work for you. I also tried the 1% bha formulation but it didn't help either. Hormonal acne really has no cure. I will just stick to my tried and tested products..HOWEVER, I WANT TO TRY GLYCOLIC TO SEE IF IT WORKS.

I would like to suggest talking about the topic of pityrosporum folliculitis or seborrheic dermatitis on the face. I am 45 years old, pre menopausal, with oily skin, I get hormonal pimples that are inflamed before the period and not only. I wash my face every night to free it from sunscreen and use also a microfiber cloth. I have dark spotted skin, even using 50+ sunscreen. My skin is sensitive and I cannot use everything I would like of creams/cosmetic products because it will react. I am using vitamin C in the morning, sometimes I react with irritation (red and hot face), then I must wash it off and do a normal moisturizer without actives (got one from avene that is designed just for reactive skin). I wear make up mostly when I have some pimples on the face. In the evening after cleansing with a light foam cleanser I use a 2%BHA and 2% AHA serum, a ceramide repair serum depending on the skin reactivity or hydration, so not always, then retinal from Transparent Lab.This one does function ok, until I get irritation. So I am kind of an on/off on the active ingredients, pimples appear from time to time and spots don't seem to decrease. I am unsure what could help, my face lacks fulness is starting to sag. Should I use pimple products, skip the vit C and keep retinol as you described in this video? I live in Europe so sometimes it's not easy to find specific products on your list, it's very good that you are always offering a few options of the same activ product, so it is easier to search for the one available here.
I love your content, your sincerity, and how direct you are (kind of like I am)! ❤Thank you!

Please do a video on comedogenic ingredients! I had what I thought was acne but turned out to be the products I was using/comedogenic ingredients. I now read through every single skincare product ingredient list and if there's any comedogenic ingredient, I don't buy it, which surprisingly (and frustratingly) restricts the products I use to like... 1% of what's on the market. Though my skin has cleared up (yay!), I'm always a little discouraged from trying new products because 9 out of 10, it has a comedogenic ingredient (vitamin c serums, brightening products, spfs... you name it). And often comedogenic ingredients are found in acne-prone products which I just find very confusing. Anyway, would love to hear your thoughts, as it's not something I hear a lot of people talk about.

    🎉Summary:
    Acne types:
    1) Non inflammatory acne (white head, black head) - white head(milia) gets oxidised and become black head
    2) Inflammatory acne- tend to hurt
    3) Cystic acne- leads to scarring
    4) Hormonal acne- occur in late women and teenagers.
    5) Rosacea- form of adult acne
    Tips:
    1) Always use cleansers at night and after gym.
    2) If you’re using an active cleanser, massage and let it sit for 5 mins then wash it off.
    Product recs:
-PanOxyl benzoyl peroxide 4% wash 2x a week
-Neutrogena Glycolic Acid for oily and sensitive
-Clean & Clear deep action for dry and sensitive skin
    3) No scrubs or beads! Use enzymatic scrub instead
    Product recs:
-Wishful Yo Glow - light texture that builds up after rubbing the face
    4) Salicylic Acid (BHA) is better for oily skin and acne prone. 30% AHA chemical peel from ordinary is only for once a week.
    5) Don’t skip your moisturiser if you’re in dry climate. Start with gel cleanser instead of creamy.
    6) Wear sunscreen everyday.
    7) Take a hot shower then use Hydrocolloid patches
    8) Sulfur absorbs oil and clogged pores which help with inflammatory acne
    9) Retinoids minimise buildup
    10) Hypochlorous spray control acne throughout the day
    4) Chlorhexidine for acne on body (butt, chest, back)

I have always suspected that the 30% AHA was too strong. When I was a teen I had some treatments for my acne, the esthetician gave me 2 creams to use at home, one had 5% AHA and after a few weeks of using that one was allowed to use the 10% AHA product as well. Anything stronger than that only the esthetician was allowed to put on my face.

If you have oily skin but live in a super dry climate, should you use:
    1) A cleanser for dry skin and follow with a gel moisturizer?
    2) A cleanser for dry skin and follow with a heavier moisturizer?
    3) A cleanser for oily skin and follow with a gel moisturizer?
    4) A cleanser for oily skin and follow with a heavier moisturizer?

34 years, Moderate Hormonal Acne for years. Unfortunatly differin made it worse, but stuck with it for 3 months before my gp said give up, its not working for you. So i use it under cream for my body and for wrinkles on my forehead. Now im on Duac gel for the acne. Cerave SA wash. And 15% azelaic acid. Working well.....hopefully it keeps working 🤞 and the inky list acne spot treatment is awesome

I love love love love dr. Idriss. Anyways I did use the pimple patches and they did nothing on my inflammatory acne even though it had a head already. So don't rely your hopes too much on that. I also did the moisturizer mistake for 10 years. Not moisturizing or using gels and my skin was getting oiler and oiler. And when I started using LRP cicabaume (because of Dr Shereene) my skin saw improvements. My acne comes and goes but the quality of my skin, my pores and the elasticity are way better. Can't live without it.

Great content!! An even "dupier" dupe, lol, for tower28 is cleansmart brand cleaner or high chair spray - ignore the marketing, it's straight up hypochlorous acid, same as T28 at 1/20 the cost. Decant into smaller spray bottles and stash everywhere *chef's kiss*

I enjoy using LRP's effaclar face wash twice a week in the morning. I massage it on my face and neck for a minute and then wash my hair, put on conditioner, and then wash my body. After all that, it will have had time to do its magic. It does have added fragrance but doesn't bother me; I find it quite refreshing. I've also started using a benzoyl peroxide gel cream twice a week at my derm's recommendation 💖

🙏🏼PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do a vid on seborrheic dermatitis! Prescription shampoos (do some work better than others? I’ve used this pink one that never did s#&t), non prescription, etc. The only thing that seems to calm it is dabbing some Doxycycline on the areas which ain’t ideal 😓

I genuinely dont remember what it feels like to not have atleast one pimple/acne scar on my face. Theres been flucuations in pimple population as i tried different things through the years but its always there. been constant since puberty and im in my mid 20s now. Almost always the deep, inflamed, painful kind. I will try this and report back

I've watched this video before and came back to it because I'm desperate. I get hormonal acne on my chin every time I drink milk. It's upsetting because 1. I love milk and 2. These are painful boiling inside my skin type. I've bought panoxyl and used it several times and noticed no difference. I also use it on my bacne. I drank cooked milk yesterday and at night washed my face and used my avene retrinal. I woke up in am and washed and left on Cera ve salicylic acid cleanser and use vitamin c moisturizer. Unfortunately I woke up with a painful red large round spot on my chin and it's getting more and more painful. I drink milk like once a month and this is what happens 😭. I never used to have this problem.
