Clean--saw a base A3 on road today, and it has a much beefier and substantial look, but still very much Audi,....looks mid cycle refresh to me, which it could be, but given how long the 3 series has been in market, I feel like they would consider this to be model upgrade..still bogles my mind at how affordable used S3's in the 2015-17 model year are, almost better than their R equivalent--as a former MK7 R owner, now in a soccer Mom Rav4 (was.a steal of an off lease pick up from a family member, that I couldn't pass up), I am jonesing to get back into something that inspires me....a 7.5 R looks great but being on the cusp on 40, it's obvious that the Audi is the more mature option, especially as an office commuter...but no 6 spd...why.....I love the DSG both my R and the GTI before that shared that transmission, but I want a manual really badly and I blame a recent trip to Italy and my rental, which was nothing more than a Fiat but manual, that did this to me...removing the S on the front grille is absolutely bonkers imo, and clever dealerships should recognize this and add the install of the classic badge onto the new model as a free bonus for buyers---something so small that can have a pretty substantial impact...doubt it could be too loud and proud though, as we well how stringent the VW Group can be with design language, especially during a redesign year...
It's nice, but I'm just not sure personally. The only things that look great are the new matrix headlights, super modern and the addition of alcantara on the dash..sporty. I'm not holding much hope for the facelift RS3 though.
WHY I WON’T BE BUYING THE NEW AUDI A3/S3! 🇩🇪 Since I passed my driving test almost ten years ago and A3/S3/RS3 has always been my REALISTIC dream car. However due to finances I have still got the same car I bought when I was 16 and that I learned to drive in. The new shape A3/S3/RS3 is a car that I would LOVE to buy however I will not be due to one reason… the UK spec compared to the EU spec. Looking at videos of the new shape A3 on TH-cam, they just have such a better specification. Red diamond stitched seats, red stitching on the steering wheel, aluminium foot rests and Akrapovic exhaust option (S3). NONE of which is available to spec on the UK Audi configurator! It may sound silly but when you are spending £30k plus on a “luxury” brand vehicle like an Audi, you want it to feel premium (particularly inside the cabin) and although they may be petulant little details to some people, I feel they all add up to make a MASSIVE difference! I am very disappointed with Audi and I will be keeping my old sh*tbox unless they decide to improve the specification options on the new A3 series!
