Max reacts to the unveiling of the next crazy fighting game by Bandai Namco, Tekken 8! This reveal comes right out of this most recent State of Play and shows off the game's crazy new graphics and even a glimpse at the gameplay!

I find it so wild how this trailer was literally THE FINAL BATTLE of the Story Mode, and somehow this trailer spoiled NOTHING about the final battle.
The only few difference I found from the trailer and the final battle is
1.Their Lower Garments aren't the same
2. When Kazuya gets up after landing your QTE his eyes doesn't glow in the final battle (If you played the story mode ofcourse you'd know why)

If anything, someone with Mishima blood is gonna fight in the final battle of the game.
We are now at a point wherein combos are so iconic that they are deliberately included in the fight scenes of Tekken trailers and shows. I love it

CH df2 PEWGF to full launch is the holy grail of Tekken execution. It's been around a long time and incredibly iconic.

@@mitayoonash8258 Because that means that the said combos are not deliberately included in a Tekken trailer (like a homage or an easter egg or reference or something, which the original comment implied). Said combos were there simply because it is how it plays out in the story mode.

16:53 - This part. This part right here. When the melody drops for a second as Kazuya collects himself and you only hear the bassline. The music changes as Kazuya's attitude does, if only for a second, reflecting a shift in tone of what we're seeing AND hearing.
As someone who has edited videos to music before, that part - that part right there - gave me goosebumps.

when Tekken 8 actually became real the first impression that came to my mind was "oh I can't wait to see max's reaction! he can go crazy seeing how cinematic the trailer is presented" but seriously, the graphic jump from Tekken 7 to 8 is really increased drastically, hopefully this is not just a sweetener in the trailer

I love the symbolism for the whole "using but rejecting the devil Gene", he is literally between light and dark, look at the lighting on his body during his super, he only 'summons' 1 wing, the camera shifts to focus on his 'dark-side' during the big punch, it feels like he is using the devil gene to end the devil gene.

Also notice the contrast. Kazuya vs Heihachi, it was a trailer full of fire and brimstone with the final setting on a volcano.
Now we got the opposite with Jin vs Kazuya where the setting this time is on a storm by the ocean.

The combo at 8:40 is the DF2 counter hit into Perfect Electric. Its hard af and this moment is the devs acknowledging all the Kazuya execution monsters that grind out electrics in practice mode.

@@asshatzeppeli208 To be honest I never used Hitbox, been doing consistent pewgf and jfsr for years with pad, but seeing some of the deepdive vids of hitbox I can def see some sort of buffer being utilised like korean back dash buffer. The 1 frame window i always found is pretty immediate so a lot of it is down to speed - hitbox mitigates that window greatly from what i can see

Point is pewgf and ewgf as you said yourself has a speed element aswell is exact input - the hitbox aids you greatly in that aspect since it lessens the input speed to literally frames

I just practiced this combo... quite hard to hit I'd say.. need to do it very fast so it can float high
damn, they totally nailed it with this trailer, from graphics to music. this was potentially life-threatening if it was revealed at Evo, because people would have just died from hype.
if they manage to integrate all the cut-ins and slow-mos into the gameplay, this game is going to be a real badass in terms of technical aspects.

I think the reason it was not shown at Evo is it looks like there is going to be some type of exclusivity with Playstation. That is the only thing I can come up with. I know it has been said that it will release on all platforms but it looks like the game is going to be pushed with the PS5.
@@KIRI77 I'm guessing if it is in the game it wont be going all the time but just for certain scenarios where an attack is jumped over. I think it would be sick because it shows emphasis on good play.

It was funny but what he said is that he lost the lottery many times to buy a PS5 and that's why he doesn't have one. In Japan when you want to buy something and there aren't as much units as people who want to buy those units stores make a lottery and the ones who win that lottery have the chance to buy one. I just hope their clothes get dirty and dustied up like they did in TTT2. Even Tekken 7 didn't have those details.
This is singlehandedly the biggest jump the series has ever seen, and I'm completely for it. Hats off to Tekken Project, Harada and Murray for all of the incredible work.
Tekken hasn’t seen such a graphical improvement in a good while and it’s truly a next gen-game now.

@@ShadowriverUB On one of corridor digital's "vfx artists react" videos, their guest was talking about either a movie or TV show they worked on (may have been the Mandalorian) and said a lot of the VFX was done in Unreal.
EDIT: it was the Mandalorian. All the environments are created using UE.
This can’t be pure gameplay as it would interfere with positioning and such for the non focused characters.

This is one of the first AAA games made in Unreal Engine 5, which is showing you where the quality is coming from, if you had a chance to run around in the Matrix demo, that new Engine is quite impressive.
I weirdly want this game to have a way to add cinematic-ness when watching a replay. Maybe even making a sick combo video in game.

Honestly? Coming back on youtube today and watching this again made me tear up. I've watched the evolution of this series since tekken 1 back in the 90's and seeing how strong tekken as a series is still going after all this time, it got to me.

This trailer was bloody amazing. The lighting, the music, the movement, the graphics, knocking the ball right into the stratosphere.
And then there's all crazy stuff going on in the background: stormy seas, tornadoes, a split-in-half tanker slowly coming towards the shore. Just looks absolutely crazy & I love it.
Lastly, Jin summoning a portion of his Devil power (One Winged Angel style), and proceeding to slug Kazuya in the face with an uppercut then in the gut with the power-up was hype af.

From what I seen, I would love to get the following in gameplay
0:56 Perfect Backsteps (get a visual indication when someone Whiffs)
0:48 Cinematic Counters (Landing a hit when someone is attacking has a chance to show a quick cinematic of the attacker being blown back and reacting to the blow.)
0:51 and 0:58 Dramatic Hits (the screen shows the character winding up their next attack with more oomph. doesn't deal more damage, just a visual thing to spice up gameplay.)
the breaking of the chains at the end I think is symbolic of Jin breaking out of his devil gene and learning to control it, because devil jin is always wrapped in chains and we see him use the devil for in his rage art.
This is Tekken in it's peak form, this is what we call next gen, it really looks like they didn't have limitations this time

It's about damn time, a game that actually looks "nextgen", 2 years already and the PS5 generation has nothing to show for. Besides Tekken 8... really, no other "nextgen" game comes to mind (of course I am disregarding Flight Simulator, that thing is something else). To put in perspective, back at 2015 the PS4 generation already had Witcher 3. So the covid is "excusing" the PS5 generation thus far, but next year they HAVE to show a legit nextgen experience
@@RRRRRRRRR33 Yea Covid , Chip shortages etc really slowed things but starting from next year we should se more and more games made only on the current systems and be next-gen. There is Hellblade 2 to come as well ,and hopefully other projects .
@@RicochetForce yep. 1 thing I’ve noticed being a gamer for over 20 years now is when new consoles come out it takes about 2 years before we start seeing games fully start to utilize the power of the new hardware. Right away there are improvements but they only get better as the generation goes on for example look at what ps4 games looked like right when the console releases and then look at games that came out at the end of its life cycle there’s a huge difference

It's weird going back to this now and seeing while the gameplay didn't exactly look like this it got pretty damn close
Yea I’m pretty sure they could’ve replicated the same lighting as the promotional but they needed to tone it down so that it could transition into the player fighting as jin. Otherwise if they kept the same lighting the game would be laggy as hell.
The story mode is pretty close to it.

I always imagine Jin and Kazuya controlling their devil gene to a point where devil abilities are combine with their own normal moves. It was going to happen this way eventually.

Yeah, Kaz has forcefully integrated Devil completely into himself at the end of T4. In Jin's case it kinda looks like he either partially transforms or found a way to tap into the power without losing himself in the process (most probably during his coma after T6). He shows that for the first time at the very end of T7's story.
Kazuya in Smash was a teaser for Tekken 8's devil mechanics all along.
This would've been an entire EVO moment if they played it at EVO, we'd be going bananas.

I’ve been so hyped for T8 since it was revealed and 2 weeks after launch, man did it not disappoint. Genuinely one of the most polished, complete and fun games to come out in recent memory and is the best Tekken has ever been. Harada and the team absolutely smashed it. Amazing, amazing work.

It’s literally like the story mode ending on tekken 7 with the little cutscene voice lines in between when your fighting akuma n stuff, but the way it flows is way better and the loading screens will probably be completely gone which I can’t wait for

Yeah I think it's from the final fight, they did the same with Hiehachi vs Kazuya in Tekken 7 so I think this is pretty much the same. I do hope this is the end of the Mishima saga.
I would love for Tekken to get more into the character intros and outros like they used to or like how MK and Injustice does it.
I get that people just wanna get into the gameplay and the matches, but it adds so much depth and personality to the lore and franchise. It's amazing

7:39 Damn, now that I watch it again I think that's actual gameplay. The zoom on Kazuya's arm is a string ender and you probably only get that cinematic under certain conditions. It's actually genius if you think about it. Why only have cool things like that during supers? You could make all throws and some strings look badass too.
The only thing is they shouldn't always be slow down / cinematic, only sometimes.
Maybe something like MK11's Krushing Blows but purely cinematic without affecting gameplay?
If it used wrongly or too much, it could be too disorienting on the camera during the fight.

@@IamNster the Mishima Zaibatsu is going to merge Heihachi's soul with a robot body he had built just in case Kazuya actually managed to somehow kill him one day or some tekken shit lol. I hope for the story's sake he is actually dead though, it wouldn't do it any justice if he somehow survived and would honestly ruin all the tension lol
Mate i just want the development of the nina-anna-steve storyline, i mean we waited 15 years just to confirm something we already known since 4 and 5 and reusing plotlines that exist since 1(for anna x nina), tekken need to flourish more lore of the side characthers in general.

Oh, how wonderful it will be if we got to see some more details this week during the Tokyo Game Show. Harada would have everyone by the throat and ready to toss them off a cliff at any moment. This was definitely a hell of a way to start off the showcase.

You can tell by the way Jin's belt moves that its not CG. It still has that choppy in-game movement. A CG trailer you know they'd make that shit all smooth and wooshy.

Tekken 8 looks amazing. Been a fan since the first game. Looking forward to the roster and new characters. Would love to see M Bison from street fighter make an appearance.

I have a suspicion we're seeing a few new elements, from the weave-back slowmo to the muscle bulge punch, that these are newly introduced in-fight cinematic flair mechanics.
Even Jin's kick following that sequence (not the run-up leading to) where he kicks Kaz in the head and Kaz stands back up, I think that's supposed to be a new Round Start.
I hope you're right- this is like a 3-D version of how Guilty Gear Strive has those flairs with certain moves and I'm here for it
now that would be a great round start but T7 story mode had those between round cutscenes too and the gameplay didnt.
I didn't even think about some of the cinematics being actual round transitions but if it's true it'd be hype as fuck. I really hope this is what normal vs matches look like and not just the story mode.
