    This is a Jimi Hendrix cover song and I think Stevie is the only person brave enough to try and cover this song because it is so complicated to do and get the correct notes every time .

      Only SRV could take a Hendrix song and make it his own. The hosts on the show got it that the only way he could pull this off is to know his instrument from all angles.

  • @kathyyoung9539

    He dont go to his manager's Stevie just did it. His sound checks are Concerts there is no difference. Stevie knew exactly what he was doin'. Stevie Ray was the Guitar. ❤❤ i should know I'm his sister. He did that shit when he was 10 year's old. ❤❤

    Hello from New England...This is a JIMI HENDRIX COVER and as we know JIMI was the mater at getting totally unconventional sounds to eminate from his STRAT...Same with STEVIE..He knew his axe inside and out upside down back to front..Great vid..Peace from the Northeast

    Since this is a Hendrix song, I always thought Stevie was channeling Jimi. And what you end up with is akin to a musical acid trip. Pure genius, both of them.

    When Stevie had his guitar against the back wall; most don't realize a string broke and he's putting a new string on all the while keeps playing it. That is just priceless! He dreamed about his death and funeral with a tremendous amount mourners.

    He makes that guitar his B!
    Fun fact: That guitar he's molesting used to belong to Christopher Cross (Sailing Away)
    He traded it in to a guitar shop, and Stevie found it the next day and bought it. Made a few mods to it, and it became his well-worn #1.

    SRV really was one of them very few who could cover Hendrix Tunes with any degree of the same intensity, passion, swag, Etc. His covers are not note-for-note specific to the original, he does imbue them with a great deal of his own Vibe but that Vibe was so in sync with Hendrix's freeform exploration of the guitar that it just works. Always great to see how much joy is performances still bring two people, and you guys just light up whenever you do a reaction to his stuff. Cheers. PS This Will Mark the 23rd time I've requested the mighty Celtic Frost with their "A Dying God Coming Into Human Flesh" oficial video. Hopefully I'm early enough in the comments this time that it will catch some eyes.

    Stevie is slapping, beating, abusing, and killing his guitar. His guitar SCREAMS FOR HELP, and askes, "WHAT DID I DO TO DESERVE THIS?" and Stevie says, "I'M NOT FINISH YET. I'M GOING TO ABUSE YOU EVEN MORE AND MAKE YOU SCREAM LOUDER!!!!"

    SRV is my fav artist !!
    The funniest thing is that when he's done, he gives it to his guitar tech telling them
    "Please fix it back up, i need it for the next song ..."

    I read that Stevie was coked out of his mind for this show. That he was passed out back stage and they had to wake him to go on. Would explain why he was sweating so much at this show. True or not, "Live at the El Macambo" is the best live show video I have ever seen.

    • @petem.3719
      @petem.3719 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      They did have to wake him up. Probably because he WASN'T coked up but was sleeping off a drunk instead. Being coked up and being passed out are kind of incompatible. Don't ask me how I know. He likely got coked up after he woke up but who cares? It was his best performance regardless. IMO, it was better than anything he did after he was drug free.

    These are all Guitar tricks that Jimi Hendrix did and it's his "Nod" to him, also on songs like "Voodoo Child" & "Little Wing"✌🎸🎶
    It's sounds like you never heard of Jimi Hendrix ? I don't know 🤔
    Your guitar player did !! Hendrix at Monterey, check it out ☺ A Fender Strat of course !!

  • @the_original_public_newsense
    @the_original_public_newsense 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    If his guitar had hair he'd put it in a ponytail, pull it and make it scream. Yeah, you were close about being in his room with it... He used to sneak his brother's guitar while he was gone and play in the closet to teach himself to play, knowing full well he was gonna get beat up if caught. And he did. Get beat up that is. Jimmy (Fabulous Thunderbirds) was Stevies idol. Arguably the greatest guitar player of all time. NObody argued with Stevie when he wanted to do something.

    I was playing bass at a Saturday afternoon Jam with guy on drums and a guy named Todd on guitar. We are playing Voodoo Child and during the solo he dropped his guitar on the floor, I thought he was pissed off at something but I realized it was just part of his gig of Strat abuse..🤣.. so we kept playing.😂 Did much the same thing as Stevie here.. Great experience via part of that band for that afternoon.😁👍✌.

    I think that is a 1962 Fender Stratocaster he got her from Charley's guitar shop. And it look like that the day he bought it. I've seen Stevie many times before he was famous. He did stuff like that all the time. Only Stevie Ray and Double Trouble could do stuff like that.

    • @artsilva
      @artsilva 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@shawnstephens1251 he actually went thru several necks in the life of that Strat. Apparently there are a few stories going around of where that guitar came from. It's good to note that Stevie had a normal (not battered) sunburst Stratocaster in his very very early days, could it be That same body but later well used and abused?! we'll never know.

    You do know that this is a cover/tribute to Jimi Hendrix's song: Third Stone From the Sun on his ARE YOU EXPERIENCED album...
    Part of Jimi's genius was that he turned feedback (sound recycling fom pick-ups to amplifier back into pick-ups into amplifier, and building with each passage) from an annoyance that musicians avoided into a tool in the guitarist's quiver.
    Whereas musicians had always lowered their volume and turned away from their amps as soon as they heard that ringing,
    Jimi cranked up the volume, stepped right up to the amp and then manipulated the sound. He embraced the electricity and played it. This is part of why God created Stratocasters.
    Now go listen to Hendrix's original, and you'll understand what Stevie was doing here.
    I've obviously been made invisible -
    Thanks, TH-cam. You suck.
