Bruh FINALLY… You’re the first TH-camr I’VE seen to reference how the Marika scene looks almost EXACTLY like the entrance of the Erdtree. Obviously made of bodies like the game has shown in every catacomb. I can breathe now

So the Golden Order was founded upon unspeakable horrors and atrocities committed. The Erdtree grew from the mass-grave sacrifices we see in the beginning. Shadow of the Erdtree finally giving us that Bloodborne horror after all these years!
Messmer is based on the summerian god, Ningishzida, which translates to "lord of the good tree". Messmer "planted" the Erdtree by piling up corpses. That first scene shows Marika entering the Erdtree, which we know has a gold lining around it. The Erdtree roots are always surrounded by corpses. Marika surrounded the Erdtree in gold to veil the fact that it is made entirely of CORPSES. That is the shadow of the Erdtree.
That a really good theory. One of the best I’ve heard yet..
My only argument to that is that if you look at the corpses in the caves and catacombs, the clusters looks like crown gall. It's is a type of bacterial infection that rots trees from the roots after being wounded (or grafted). If you look up the pics you'll see what I mean
Whoops, forgot the main point. Basically if the corpses are crown gall, which is one of the many examples or tree rot used in Elden Ring, it would thematically be suggesting that holding back death and forcing these bodies to cluster in undeath is a modern symptom of the dying of the Erdtree. This would explain why you find death root there which also references another type of root rot that happens that is water related (which is why you find it with the mariners too). So all together, I agree Mesmer could be similar to that deity (Or Boitata or Níðhöggr, or... I never realized how many fire snakes related to trees there are until now), but not because of the corpse to tree link. I think something else is going on there but can't put my finger on it yet.
Admittedly, the other part is corpses only make good compost *after* they decomposed into soil lol
What doesn’t make sense is why try to hide? Marika got her rocks off causing all kinds of mass murder and discrimination in the lands between. What’s so different about the land of shadows? Was she embarrassed because it’s first time and then she got over it and let it all hang out?

Miquella and St.Trina, Miyazaki claims they are not the same and we will get the story of the two in the expansion...
He said, "They can be seen as different beings," followed by, "we dont want to give away their exact relationship but it will be explored in the dlc." That is exactly what you could say of Marika and Radagon.
The “will you walk with him” gave me strong “fire walk with me” vibes (because of messmer’s flame)
Marika's serpent bracelets are part of her design from the start if you look at her crucifixion's pose in her key art where she has all her clothes and jewelry
When we actually find her in game that has all been stripped out and she has only the bottom part of her dress, but might be a good time to check her accessories again

I think the 7 characters they show are previews of the 7 new classes we can play in the dlc
The scene of the bodies and the golden light with marika in the middle invoke this scene in berserk where Griffith's vision of a castle on the distance is shown to him by one of the god hands As he stumbles on a mountain of bodies to reach it. Most don't notice you can hear the elden beast crashing infront of marika as its ost plays
When I see the trailer I get the impression that Miquella is the Eldest child, before Marika met Godfrey. His hair is gold. And he is seen as eternally young because his body is without a soul. I think that Mesmer is Melania’s twin. She never calls Miquella her twin. Radagon’s children all have red hair as a result of the fire giant’s curse. Mesmer has red hair, not Miquella.
This would mean that the fell god is Mesmer’s flame
An image of a new loading screen background was shared, and it shows a regular/traditional site of grace, contradicting the theory that the large Miquella's rune things sticking up are the new graces.

I think St. Trina is the gloam eyed queen, and when Messmer says "Mother, wouldst thou Lordship sanction one so bereft of light?" He's speaking to Trina/Miauella/Gloam eyed queen. Especially if we indeed are Miquellas promised Lord. It even lines up if Trina and Miquella were separate entities to begin with, kind of how we speculate Radagon was separate from Marika at first.
The build perfect for the DLC Lore is GOLDEN, if the ending is better than Ranni's then I'll probably stick to Magic first then switch to Golden in NG+
The bloody viscera and torso birthing walls reminded me of Rykard’s sword and Marika’s bracelet definitely looks like a serpent. No idea what she’s reaching into and or what she’s pulling out. I’m not convinced that sticky substance was anything other than excrement from the fleshy corpse, and that what she actually pulled out was concealed in her hand…idk that shit was weird
Is there any theory to that being Messmers arm coming out of the cocoon in Moghs palace. Miquella was small when Mogh was holding him.
I thought about Marika being "The Formless Mother". From the looks of the trailer, it looks like she was leaving the dark purple/blood coated area. And she could be considered "formless" as she can take whatever appearance she wants, which makes sense for the Marika/Rad debate we've had. I think The Elden Beast beat her, tricked her into to service and the entire game has been Marika secretly plotting to get her revenge on all that the Elden beast took from her because she was reduced to a slave.
The opening shot looks like Marika is taking golden strands of hair from a baby’s head in a swaddle or womb

The first point you made about the space between the bodies making up the opening to the Erdtree, if you look at the erdtree it also has a large split up the middle of the tree above the door almost like the two halves formed together but there is still a remnant of the 2 halves
I've been saying it since the first day the trailer dropped.... there's gonna be a HUGE twist in the story
I know we have all tried to place Messmer’s birth and parentage in the timeline and make it fit, but it just occurred to me- why? Why does he need to be a child of Marika? Why can’t he be a husband? Marika has a history of putting her husbands away… this would explain the betrayal, seduction, and affair we hear. And I know Messmer refers to her as Mother, but it would not be amiss for any religion, cult, zealot, fanatic, or even royalty to want to be referred to as Mother. We have many modern day examples (Queen Elizabeth) where a population referred to her as queen mother or mum. And works of fiction, like a song of ice and fire, where the populace called Khaleesi “Meesa“ or Mother. Religions refer to their gods or goddesses in maternal and paternal ways. So again, I ask… what if Messmer was her first husband and waged this war for her. Then she betrayed and hid him away? Even would explain when Messmer taunts “wouldst thou lordship sanction in one so bereft of light?” as more derogatory and exasperated. Like “really? You left me and this is who is your consort?”

I am curious to know how Mohg plays a role in all of this? Seeing how he is the polar opposite of his brother Morgott, Mogh follows the will of the “Formless Mother.” But with the DLC I wonder if Mohg’s actions were somehow influenced by Messmer in order to find a way to enter the Lands Between. Or possibly if Messer himself followed the will of the Formless Mother but failed and sought Mohg to pick up where Messmer failed? Or there is simply the idea that Mohg is a pawn in all of this and was preyed upon during his moment of weakness before our encounter with him.

Something I never see talked about in all of the Elden Ring lore videos concerning Miquella is the bewitching branch and its description. With the DLC coming out and focusing on Miquella’s backstory, that last line of the item’s description has always made me curious.. did anyone follow him willingly?
I think the followers do follow him willingly because of his charm/charisma, much like the band of the hawks with Griffith. Miquella didn't just go around bewitching everyone hahahahah

What is messmer is radagon? And the land of shadow is frozen in time like farum azula, or in the past or whatever, From have a history of using time as a plot device

People in this game sprout trees when they die so like many dead people make the big tree. Marika killed lots of people to water her tree.
Mesmer will be the child of that seduction and betrayal. Hence the snakes…

Personally, I'm new to Souls games, I think our character is a reincarnation of Miquela.
Here is a hot take: Messmer is the child of Marika & Rykard. So is Rya. They reference her repellent birthing ritual in the base game. I feel like this is a viable theory. GRRM is obsessed with incest and inter-familial relationships. So maybe Marika had a relationship with her stepson first? Just spitballing here. Also, perhaps each boss battle is taken on with one of the companions, & thus you gain each of their abilities as they die. Sort of like a 1 time spirit ash

The Tarnished Archeologist speculated that the last trailer showed us large boats in the shadow lands so...
Young Marika comes to the shadow lands on a boat, she looks around and decides to own the joint.
(This trailer tells us that there was seduction and betrayal)
Marika meets the king of the shadow lands, seduces him and gets pregnant (last trailer showed us the picture of an old man and pregnant woman)
(Last trailer also showed us the king (impaled?) through the top of the head)
Marika is reaching inside a bundle right? I think she had the baby, Messmer, and those strands are his hair she's ripping out. (he has red hair now because Marika took his golden hair)
She takes the hair and does a ritual to become god like, then she usurps the throne.
The people don't like it so she has Messmer burn and impale them. (the trailer tells us there will be no songs about it because what Marika and Messmer did was terrible)
She then gets a phone call from the Greater Will asking her to be CEO of the Lands Between. She accepts but when she leaves she locks the door behind her, to hide her dirty work, and tells Messmer to hold the fort.
But because of what she did, her blood is cursed. Godwyn gets stabbed, Morgott and Mohg are omens, Malenia and Miquella are cursed and so is Melina.
Miquella wants to build something better but it goes wrong. Why? Because of his mother's curse. So he goes looking for answers.
He goes to the shadow lands to find the source of the curse but he can't break it himself, because of his mother. he is a part of the curse so he needs outside help. That's where the Tarnished come in. Miquella gives up everything to crack the door to the shadow lands so we can help him fix what his mother broke...and beat down his brother...the first born.
I usually like the videos, but I hate how click baity they make all of their thumbnails and titles.

The first section is not the erdtree, its the tree in the land of shadow. Its two clear tree trunks.
That is not Marika holding the Elden Ring Strings in front of the sun, it is Miquella. It is his hair, not Marika's, his chest and back is also a skinny man's features, not a woman's. Also Fromsoftware uses a mixture of little girl\boy physical design for Miquella. Also many people say it is Marika holding the rune strings in her hand, uplifting them, but why would a Queen of the land, walk around top naked in public places, also his son Messmer is around, doesn't make sense. But if it is Miquella, then the clues fit, he can walk around shirtless. What are your thoughts on this?

The character is wearing gold bracelets that are identical to Marikas. The strings in their hand was starting to form a rune arc, and it wasn’t the shape of miquellas, but was “U” shaped just like Marikas.
We already know that Marika started the war. We’ve already been told by Miyazaki that this dlc takes place where Marika first stepped foot and became a god.
Miquella has something to do with it, but the story is mainly centered around Marika and her actions.
The blonde figure shown in a field next to a golden light later in the trailer is probably Miquella.
But the person holding the strings is probably Marika.
She doesn’t want to be controlled, or used as a vessel, so it makes sense that she would go topless in a show of free will and defiance.
Melania is topless in her second phase. Doesn’t mean she’s a man.
