  • finding reasons to be kind to myself (even when it's hard)
I often wake up looking for something to be hard on myself for. Did I sleep in too late? What's on my to do list today and what have I done wrong to get in the way of that? I realize so many of us feel this way because we're conditioned to have unhealthy relationships with productivity, and therefore ourselves. I'm setting an intention to be kind to unlearn this behavior and start being kinder to myself, even in moments when it's difficult.

We are not taught to give ourselves grace. We are taught to push ourselves to our limit and then applauded for getting through it. I always appreciate your vids because they are great food for thought. I love the concept of feminine and masculine energies and the respect brought to it that we need both. It's definitely something to think on as I learn to deconstruct some of the misogynistic work habits I had picked up on.

bro I relate to this so freakin much. when I want to be kind to myself there’s this tension within me to be harder on myself because I’m not living to the expectations I’ve created for myself or are preexisiting in my mind and how I grew up. trying to grow in this way and learn some type of balance 🙂

Learning to forgive yourself opens up so many doors because you're no longer held back by your guilt. It's freeing abd possibly the best thing you could do for yourself in learning to be kinder to yourself. Loved this, Lynette!👏🏽

"When I stumble, I understand that's just part of the dance".... Something I do when these thoughts start to surface is to Immediately start counting backwards (5,4,3,2,1) to interrupt the thought. It helps soooo much because it STOPS the cycle and allows your brain to understand that we are no longer thinking about that.

“It’s easier to be judgmental towards other people when I’m being judgmental towards myself.” YES. Literally almost devastated my relationship with my man. I wasn’t giving myself grace and felt like I had to treat him the same way. We have to be gentle with ourselves otherwise it will affect how we treat others. So well said Lynette. ❤️

Remember at the time we were small children no one celebrated our existance simply for just what it is, not for what it can accomplish or produce. Slow living and being present to all those small daily deeds has helped me so much realise I am worthy for simply breathing and treating others with kindness and respect. I still struggling but I've realised that it all lies within me to make the change. Lots of love from Athens, Greece

this just came up on my recommended and it was such a SIGN holy. in past years, i was completely projecting all my insecurities/worries/fears onto others or judging them without even realizing what i was actually doing (or why i was doing it). it wasn't until i got into therapy this year that i learned all of this. it's still a working process to learn to forgive myself. im quick to forgive others for past mistakes or behaviors (given they've shown growth), but it's so much more difficult to forgive yourself 🤧

I literally posted about this on my Insta - finding my flow since I recently quit my job. I have no structure & I’m at the point where time & days are literally merging (I also have an almost 2 month old who still wakes up overnight).
Finding the flow, the flow on just being right here right now. 🙏🏽 I’m a 200HR Reg. Yoga Trainer and the practice of Yoga, which isn’t just the poses & movement, but a full lifestyle is literally just that, flow. I’ve learned to schedule my days no more that 3 days ahead & Sun/Wed are my ‘check in days.’ I also have learned to just be flexible and if I have something planned & I ended up being called to do something else, I’ll just flow.
It’s hard, but def is possible. Sending love & light babe! Love you for always sharing your content. It’s been inspiring me to restart my channel. 🌟

I know it’s simple to tell people to do but the truth is it’s very difficult sometimes especially in this society! It took a lot of unlearning & learning like you mentioned. This is a great topic to discuss and I hope you soon find more ways to allow yourself to be 🧡

Why are you always in my head!😭😭 I just impulsively gave myself a self care spa night last night thinking exactly like this. I know that for me, investing in my appearance is part of my self care because it helps me not be lazy on myself (therefore, not be lazy/procrastinate on my work). It works all the time, but I just forget to do it often and wonder why I suddenly feel less accomplished lol. When I feel good and look good, I DO good! Idk maybe that’s just me lol, but thank you for always giving us these spaces to make these discoveries about our selves and keeping the conversation going, cause clearly we all need it! ❤️

This was beautiful! Thank you for being so vulnerable. Isn’t it crazy how we shame ourselves for not sticking to our self care routine?! The irony. The key is to not use self-care as an escapism but to do it because you truly want to and it feels natural. For some people, having a “routine” causes more anxiety due to the unnecessary expectation of doing something every single day. It sets us up for failure. I’m a perfectionist (recovering) and this is something I had to learn about myself. I no longer hold myself to a requirement, which leads me to anxiety, guilt, and self-sabotage. I do what feels natural and good in the moment. From the place of pure desire and love. Also, as you already said, self-forgiveness is where it begins.

Firstly, Lynette it’s wonderful to see you growing, I started following you when you had like 12k subscribers. Secondly, waking up thinking of what to hate yourself about is so real and I did not know others felt that way. It’s what fueled my willingness to get up and get going and be a high achiever for about 1.5 years. The accomplishments/fruits of my labor have been made clear. but, lately, it hasn’t been working. & Ive wondered why I am not able to psych myself out into working and grinding. I’ve thought to myself that my body & mind may no longer want to function off of fear and shame, but then I brush that feeling off, and try to go back into “tough love”-ing myself into being the meticulous and successful person I was just months ago. I’ve wondered, will I be able to work, grind, & produce excellence if I am kind and gentle to myself? Sometimes I feel like I can’t & I am too scared to find out and give it a try. Thank you for always sharing your experiences, you are never alone in them, which is comforting for both you and your viewers who can relate to someone. 💗 Best of luck in everything!

Damn this video was nice to watch. You're speaking exactly how I've been feeling lately and I really needed this reality check.

I’m literally the meanest person to myself, especially when I feel like I could’ve done sth differently. And it takes a long time for me to get over it, but I don’t like people really knowing what’s going on in my life, so I will actively put in effort to be nice, amiable & kind to people (put on a facade, albeit exhausting) because I know how horrible it feels to be on the receiving end of judgment. So yeah🙂🍃

When I use to have a glass of wine 🍷 every now and then and coffee ☕️ I was waking up with anxiety
Cut both off two years ago, life’s got so much better.
Anxiety when down big almost gone.

Jobs dont just take your time and energy, they take your soul thats why you feel drained when you come back home and dont have energy to do anything else.

You seem like you read often .. have you considered doing book reviews on here .. like a modern form- like annotating parts you think hit the most and kind of breaking it down and sharing with us . Also, reaction/review videos from you would be dope i think. Im sure you would put a reflective spin on it ! This Channel makes me think so much . Love it here man.

Thank you so much! I’ve actually thought about that and even starting a book club where we can maybe all talk/learn from each other. I would love that
