Being drained due to work and then spending the rest of your time off trying to escape reality is so relatable! A lot of people don't even notice they're doing that. Do you still find yourself trying to escape reality after quitting your job or would you say things have changed in that aspect?
i feel like everyone, even those deep in creating their reality, are still met with shadows of looping into escapism perhaps even from the new life we've constructed! I feel like that from time and time and giving myself grace to feel that desire to escape from something and truly asking myself," What i am trying to escape or distract myself from? and What am i truly yearning for? that discernment always brings me back to gratitude and center. and those feelings have less and less density but still carry some powerful lessons!
Yes I definitely do! I tend to do it realizing it, especially when I'm in the midst of deeply spiritual/shadow phases of my life. It feels easier to run and distract myself instead of sitting with whatever painful feelings are coming up. I'm learning now that true rest is allowing your mind and body to just be & feel whatever it's feeling in that moment. It definitely takes time to unlearn tho since we're so trained to escape

I really love this video because you’re not preaching “quit your job “ recently I fell into depression because I was letting my job control my whole life and when off work I wouldn’t do anything for myself but lay in bed and just hate my life. Went to therapy and my therapist helped me create small daily goals to achieve around my work schedule. Now I’m not fully there but I’m learning to detach myself from my job and just do a little more than they ask for. When I’m off work I’m still making small goals to remember myself that life still goes on when I’m off work. I love my current job but I was putting in too much and forgetting all the other things that I loved to do.
This is me right now! 😫 and it’s such a struggle. Working on getting there with my therapist but it’s a work in progress. I know it’s been awhile since you posted your comment, how are things going now?
Still having my down days and trying to really find me again. However, as far as my job I’ve learned to let go and not make it my identity. Literally just yesterday my best friend said he remember few months ago I would stress about missing work and having so much to do there, now I’m basically saying F that job lol. I do only what is required just like everyone else and if I’m getting too overwhelmed I step back and remind myself if I drop dead on this job they will replace me by the end of the week. I hope you find your balance because a job is just not worth the kind of peace we want to feel. 💜

“Always dare to dream. For as long as there’s a dream, there is hope, and as long as there is hope, there is joy in living.” I have a full time job but i try to find time for building my business. Thank you for this video !!
Content creation brings me joy, like so much joy that I’ve been doing it for years and making zero money and now after all this time, paid opportunities are coming my way. I agree with you, when you are working your day job that you know you despise, your escape must be working on your passion. I used every waking moment as a working mom when I wasn’t at my day job, working on my passions. I’m still doing it although I have a job I love now, but I still make sure I pursue my passions because I know it’s going to lead me exactly where it’s supposed to.
Being drained due to work and then using the time that I'm not working to escape is super relatable. I wanna start my youtube channel again but I'm so exhausted and I'm a mom so that also takes away from my energy. Welp.

Potent message here. I quit my 9-5 to pursue my passion of energy healing. I’m now considering going back to work while I continue building my business on the side. Needed to hear this 🙏🙏🙏
This is what I've been doing, no cap! Key skills needed are, time managing, time blocking, deep work and a blue print. I wake up at 4:30, go for runs, come back and start my office work at 6:30 instead of 9am. This gives me a head start, and what work I take to finish working over time usually, I complete everything mostly before 12pm. After 12 pm, all the time is mine, and I focus on my passions and goals. Of course my employer doesn't know so here and there they might throw in an extra work task, usually minimal. But the tough part is, being at home my mum keeps bugging me with tasks during my free time, things I wouldn't ever bother about. So yeah, it's been a battle to keep time for myself but I'm working on it.

“How can your passion be your sense of peace?” Thank you so much for this video, Lynette. Came right on time & is definitely resonating. Would love more insight on time management in the 9-5 setting. Thank you for being you!
This video came right on time in the mist of a crucial time in my personal journey and shadow work. I completely resonated with the information. The only thing about my particular 9-to-5 is that I work in healthcare, and for a large organization at that. It’s very hard to negotiate change in my position even though we have a union. But I am not using that As an excuse, I have come to terms that I’m unhappy in my current job and it 100% takes me away from what I am truly passionate about, I’m taking the little time I have after work to study and master what my passions are in hopes, one day, I can change positions allowing more time for myself.
Sometimes I forgetting to take a break and look back at what I've done so far, until I feel it's all pointless. I do something until I'm so focused that my energy runs out quickly without realizing it.
NO LYNETTE. but how tf are we on the same journey? every video you make it always seems like God wants me to slow down and watch you. you help me & really guide me on the path i should be going on
You provide so much value in these videos. I decided to work an afternoon shift so that i can give myself and passions the best part of me and give my job the rest and whats left.
I definitely needed to hear this! I have been so wrapped up in my 9-5 that I feel like my dreams are way too far but I’m going to keep going! And start back again posting on my channel! 💕
I work two jobs at a daycare and at fast food I never thought I’d be working with kids it’s busy work I sometimes feel bad because the kids don’t like me as much as the other teachers I feel like I’m failing it’s been 5 months now and I feel like I’ve grown learned more but also dealing with mental health I have tough days. I definitely feel like in need more time for me and I just got the other job just for extra money .. but it’s not serving me I’ve had so many jobs in my life to be young I’m not doing any studying and the things that I want to accomplishing I watch youtube Netflix eat and lay in bed for hours before going to sleep . I’m definitely needing some help with time management. I am glad I’m not on any other social media right now except bumble and TH-cam less time to stress about things that aren’t serving me Thanks for this video I definitely will keep your channel close you’re inspiring.
you have no idea how much this helped me! I’ve wanted to be a TH-camr/content creator for almost a decade now, but have always had to work, and financially provide for myself, and I just recently scored an amazing 9-to-5 job, but it takes so much out of me that by the time the weekend rolls around, I am absolutely drained or just want to distract myself. This video helped me tremendously, and really inspired me, so thank you! I just love your entire vibe, subscribed!
I started a job two years ago that I'm not in love with, but it helps me reach my goals while I'm in college. My first boss said something so strong on my first day: In 24 hours, you work for 8 and sleep for 8. What will you do with the time left over? I took that time and went back to college. I got my Associates, and now I'm finishing my Bachelor's. What's fascinating is that until I got older, I thought I didn't have the time to do this. I'm also investing in my photography and taking pics on the weekend while planning my future after college. Thank you for sharing your wisdom!
This is EXACTLY what I needed! My business is growing and I have a remote day job that provides robust paid-time-off. I need to start having conversations with my manager about how to have more control over my schedule. That's awesome!!!
Things that bring me joy outside of work: movies, music, video games, studying the paranormal and magic! Unfortunately I've felt compelled to push everything to the side after work to focus on fitness. Maybe I should just consider quitting housework for a month or two and see what happens 😂😂
Love this message! My journey leaving corporate & becoming a full-time entrepreneur is why I started making time management content & coaching to help people make the time to live their dreams
This is sooo helpful I had to learn this the hard way. Changing to work from home jobs has literally save my mental. Gives me so much more freedom and control. Some days I’m able to work on my business and my 9 to 5.
Thank you! I really needed to hear this today. Been feeling stuck at my job lately and really want to follow my passions(horticulture/growing my own food)
Thats beautiful! Me too, ive been trying to grow my own food this last cycle. Something that has always helped me deeply is releasing the expectation that i NEED to show up doing my passion every day in a certain way. Letting is flow organically and Sometimes the best feeling is just sitting out there and observing and doing small things that make you feel like you are aligning with that dream that don't necessarily need to be the HUGE Actions that we often associate with following our passions. its always the little ways that we can give and receive
Omg!! This video came at the exact moment I needed to hear this, bc why am I catching myself stressing over a job outside of work hours that I don't even love 🙃
Stay at home author. Came here for the "dream life" part, but I am glad that I watched still. A good reminder that I need to do what it takes to thrive without returning to working for someone else's dream life by necessity ever. Nice to see that you are proving this can be done.
I relate to this so much. Sometimes when things are going good at work, I find I have a healthy relationship with work and life but when things are going bad, I tend to find myself separating from work and trying my best not to think or talk about work at home and even getting upset if someone does start talking about work. Recently I have been having a hard time with this, I don’t think it’s healthy. I’m trying to improve
I can't being to express how much this video hit home for me! You have inspired me to continue pursuing my career and to not focus on being discouraged about having to work a 9-5 job at the moment. Thank you for making this. Would love you possibly have you on a Podcast Episode sometime!
I have a passion for traveling!! I love planning trips and experiencing this huge world. I work remotely so feel like I could do this more often but it’s a constant battle of knowing I need to save money vs wanting to live my life
I am so glad I stumbled upon this video. I was just telling my mom that I am done going above and beyond for a job that I am miserable and also just doesn’t appreciate me or give me the support that I need. It’s not worth the toll that it is taking on my physical and mental health. I come too drained to work on my passions and hobbies
this video popped up on my feed on the right time as I’m seeking ways to be mindful while having a full time job... my very first job was at a call center in 2019 and burned out very quickly because I got too absorbed on the long hours I spent there and realized I did try to escape reality on my days off acting as if I didn’t have a job at all. now i got accepted on another job after so long and decided I’m planning my days ahead so I make time for my hobbies (I don’t have any side hustle in mind) and most importantly to nurture myself, that way I can avoid falling into the same trap of that older time. thank you for this video, now gonna watch the video you mentioned about companies since I just found your channel ❤
Your newer videos like this one have been so need for me lately that's have been putting me back on track of where ihave been trying to go in my life journey. Thank you
Thank you for sharing. Sometimes it's hard for me because I'm in college, and i have work and then balancing that with time for me, friends, and family. But I recently quit my job, started bartending school, and got a job as a bartender yesterday actually just by going out there and wanting better for myself. It can be scary just going all in but definitely worth it.
Lynetter!! Such a great video. I have many passions, I've always been a person drawn to just being creative whether that is acting, singing ,doing arts and crafts designing something, it can be very hard to decide if its my escape or what I want to make out of a career but this gave me some wonderful insight especially the part about after a long day of work your hobby or passion should be something that brings you joy
I just a got new job @cvs which a cute little side job it’s so easy to do and doesn’t stress me out or make me feel overworked. my old job made me feel like a zombie everytime I came home it was bloody hell. I only work three days out of the week which is very reasonable for me and is perfect for my mental health. i love working morning shifts because I love waking up early and being productive like meditating, journaling, showering, drinking my tea, making a healthy breakfast, etc. I also get paid from other sources online which is great because nowadays everyone should try there best to have multiple sources of income instead of just relying on solely one job. excuse the rant lol but thanks for all the work u do for us and all the advice, tips and words of inspiration you give us for free I appreciate you!❤
i love my job, but i do relate. im lucky to do something i enjoy and that makes me happy and pays well. however i dont want to do this forever. i work 7-9, not 9-5 and i have a lot of issues with putting back into myself and building the life i truly want. thanks for this.
I spent 2 years being completely burnt out from my job and very angry…but then I slowly started working on things that interested in me. I started an online brand and side business over a 2 year period…now I’m burned out and very unhealthy 😅. I’m still working my 9-5 but now I’ve shifted to focusing on my passions first and foremost (my side hustles are on hiatus) because they bring me joy. Your advice came at such a good time and is very validating for the path I’ve recently chosen. ❤
Thank you so much for this video. I have been thinking about this recently, as I’m wanting to dedicate more time to my passions but I work a full time job that has been draining me. Wanting to create my own business and get into content creation. Was definitely eye opening! Thank you once again!
I find it hard to emotionally detach because I teach 3rd grade at a Title 1 school. It’s hard to emotionally detach when a 7 year old at my school just died, many of my 8 year old students are getting abused at home or neglected and are telling me every day that they wish they were dead and want to kill themselves. I hate my job and I plan on quitting at the end of the school year but I feel like putting in less effort would be cruel to the kids I’m supposed to be helping.
EXACTLY!!!! I know you wrote this 2 years ago (hope you found something that allowed you to take care of yourself and fulfills you) but this is the exact thing I was thinking during her video. As a teacher, you can’t detach bc it wouldn’t be fair to the children and so then you’re so emotionally, physically, and mentally exhausted that you can’t pursue anything outside of the job.
This video is so relevant to what I'm going through right now. Trying to improve and create more content but working 40 hrs as a server can be exhausting. I've already been trying to at least detach myself from my 9-5 mentally, but easier said than done.
I’m thankful I have a hybrid work job and I’m learning a lot at my job but it’s so exhausting , I’m trying to find a new job or source of income. I want to find something I feel really passionate about. Thanks for this video!!
I work as a substitute teacher, and for the last month this has been my job. It's not my endgoal job because something that I'm pursuing outside of it is acting. I've always wanted to do acting. Big or small projects, I want to persue. This job gives me some creative freedom to do that. The pay is alright, but the acting part that I'm doing, I'm taking it slow, day by day. I don't wanna rush into stuff like I did before when I was pursuing other things that fell flat. I've never been too confident in myself, but something about this, something about me going for acting, I know I can do it, and I have full confidence in myself. I just started acting classes in August of 2022, and I'm in my intermediate class now. We can only go up if the teachers see we met all the criteria, and I did. They say something in me, so I plan to show them what I see too. I can literally only go up from here, and I plan to do so. I don't wanna see acting as just a career though, but something I can do that fulfills me entirely (my only gripe is talking to ppl to make connections cause I'm shy 😭😭😭 but I'll get over it) so far I've done 4 auditions and 2 I didn't get, but 2 I'm waiting for the news today and Saturday, so I'm so excited. I see myself doing big things, and this job I just see as a game of what task must be done today and so on. I'm happy with myself now, and I know I can do better in the future. I have that to believe in myself, and I will bare the fruits of my labor soon. ☺️☺️ This video help me see Alittle clearly with that too. Thank you, and have a great day ☺️
Now thissssss is a valuable video. I learned how to trade stocks/options cause as much as I say I’m a hustler, my body does burn out so I had to find a way to make money with my mind now. Growth.
What keeps me going is devoting my time in the gym really… I work a 9-5 but am not feeling it… I been trying to figure out what is it I really want to do.. I enjoy taking photos of nature…
Thank you so much for this video!! I stumbled upon it when I needed it most ❤ Passions and interests that brings me joy, outside of my career, are creative pursuits that includes design, fashion design, architecture, drawing and music ❤

And I also want to be an author! I kept thinking about it for years and years and finally decided to just start writing. “How can your passion be your sense of peace?” Thank you so much for this video, Lynette. Came right on time & is definitely resonating. Would love more insight on time management in the 9-5 setting. Thank you for being you!
It’s crazy how in tune the universe is because I was just thinking about this
Yesss 🙌🏾 I thought i was the only one that hate that saying “everyone has the same 24 hrs” we definitely don’t
I worked M-F. Readjusting my schedule to be M-Th was the best thing I did for myself emotionally and for my business. x
This happen even if you love your job…I’m so invested in it that when I come home I don’t have the energy to do anythingelse
Wow! Read my mind. Thanks for popping up in my algorithm, haha. I'm passionate about writing, pottery, gardening, and pretending to be a good golfer.
I love cooking and working out. It makes me feel good taking care of my wellness
Sometimes I forgetting to take a break and look back at what I've done so far, until I feel it's all pointless. I do something until I'm so focused that my energy runs out quickly without realizing it.
Completely agree! Maximizing my time has helped me prioritize the steps needed to move onto the next chapters of my life
Learn how to protect your energy. So you can wish your goal
NO LYNETTE. but how tf are we on the same journey? every video you make it always seems like God wants me to slow down and watch you. you help me & really guide me on the path i should be going on
It's the collective awakening bb!! We're all waking up! So glad this was helpful❤️
Yesss we love to see it!! Wishing you the best with your youtube journey💕
@@LynetteAdkins awww thank you! 😊
100% agree on everything! It is just a means to get by while you work on your dreams. Detachment is key!!!
you have no idea how much this helped me!
My first boss said something so strong on my first day:
In 24 hours, you work for 8 and sleep for 8.
Perfect timing with this video. I am finally getting paid brand deals, growing on all my platforms and I cannot wait to go full time! 💕
I love how humble and kind your videos are. Thank you for creating and sharing with others ❤
Thank you Lynette!
can you please do a video on how to find your passion in the first place?
This is my sign I've been [stuck] in this stage for awhile and Now i'm starting to realizing how important it is to be stingy with my time.
Omg!! This video came at the exact moment I needed to hear this, bc why am I catching myself stressing over a job outside of work hours that I don't even love 🙃
I'm so glad this came at the right time! You got this love!
@@LynetteAdkins ❤️❤️
🙏🏿🙏🏿 keep it. Real and stay true
had to come back to this….you’re SO AMAZING
Wow…this is exactly what I needed to hear today. Thank you.
I just love how you want to see everyone win! I love you for that!!!
Thank you
exactly what I needed this morning, thank you Lynette
I'm so glad! Thanks for tuning in❤️
it's 6 p.m where I live hahahaha
You are literally one of the only TH-camr I watch everytime you post🤩
I spent 2 years being completely burnt out from my job and very angry…but then I slowly started working on things that interested in me. I started an online brand and side business over a 2 year period…now I’m burned out and very unhealthy 😅. I’m still working my 9-5 but now I’ve shifted to focusing on my passions first and foremost (my side hustles are on hiatus) because they bring me joy. Your advice came at such a good time and is very validating for the path I’ve recently chosen. ❤
I agree what I decided to do is pick a remote job I like while creating a business to make my life easier. It also help me with my business.
Thank you so much for this video. I have been thinking about this recently, as I’m wanting to dedicate more time to my passions but I work a full time job that has been draining me. Wanting to create my own business and get into content creation. Was definitely eye opening! Thank you once again!
This is a great video that may help a lot of people. I'm glad you're a conscientious TH-camr
yes! escape escapism hahah , or rather transcend the need to escape by reclaiming our energy and channeling it in small meaningful ways each day!
Thank you so much. This is my 1st time watching this, and it has inspired me to keep pushing in my passion
Definitely a very helpful video. Thank you!
I needed this message. A good reminder that I am the owner of my reality.
This video is so relevant to what I'm going through right now. Trying to improve and create more content but working 40 hrs as a server can be exhausting. I've already been trying to at least detach myself from my 9-5 mentally, but easier said than done.
My 9 to 5 is more like 9am to 10pm And I’m exhausted afterwards.
There’s not much time left after that.
It’s a trap.
Thank you, and have a great day ☺️
this changed my life thank you for helping me conserve my energy and time for my passion
Love this. Especially because we got to watch you do it!
🥺❤️
This video showed up on my recommend right when I needed it most. I've never watched a video of yours before, but I am definitely gonna have to check out your channel after this!
Plant care is always a good time for me!
thank you so so much for this video! are you able to also make one on the environment at work, toxic people around? How to deal with them when you are a deep sensitive caring person
The most important thing stated is your " connection to your purpose". Our purpose to love.
i’m on my lunch break abt to watch this, working a 9-5. and just last week I cut back my hours so I could take time to rlly figure out what I want to do. ur videos have been helping me so much so I think this video is meant for me!!!!!!! 🦋
Thank you, Lynette! I'm watching this on my work computer. Lol.
Lol we love to see it!
SAME
Wow I needed this. Please share how you were able to manage your free time so that you were efficient and intentional
This video meant so much just from one thing that you mentioned me & my friend had a whole conversation about life this is so important in general thank you!!
THANK YOU!! Genuinely thank you. I really needed this today.
My fitness journey, writing (especially poetry for my Instagram), creating TH-cam content, making business and investment plans: all these bring me joy outside of work😍
Thanks for these
I'm veterinarian and I lovvveee animals but now hating my job because of ppl. Job is stressful and tiring even tough I'm not working that hard. I wanna be a writer for a long time.. like living just with writing. I hope I can make it.
I was a vet assistant for six years and loved it but the clients killed it for me. I totally see where you're coming from. Veterinarians are so overworked and under appreciated. And I also want to be an author! I kept thinking about it for years and years and finally decided to just start writing. I work 40 hours a week and of course have housework and everything when I get home but whenever I get time to write I take the opportunity. Good luck to you!
@@kaitlin2539 Thank you soo much for good wishes :) yes the clients are literally making me sick. In 2 years I hated my job completely.. I’m soo happy for you btw🤍 I hope soon I can do this too.
I love love love this video thank you so much everyone needs this!
I needed this because I’m struggling so hard rn I love my job but I’m so tired as well I can’t focus on my business
Ahhh I really needed this. Thank you so much for making this x
I was just thinking “I’m so burnt out I’m so burnt out I’m just so BURNT” then this video popped up. Of course I’m too burnt out to listen to the whole video properly so I’m gonna watch it probably a few more times. It’s so true that we get so overrun trying to make a living that our actual living is just spent trying to escape reality. Lot of wasted time. Time management issues with your life. A logical perspective!!
I’m over here snapping at this title this video was needed👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
😮💨😮💨 needed this . Real BAD!
I’ve just gotten a big opportunity/ decision and wasn’t sure what to do, this video came up in my reccomend and now I know exactly what to do thankyou ❤
Yes!! Cover it all sis pls. haha. Make it a series, because we love this topic on taking action in bringing our mission into this reality!!! MAHALO!!!!
Thank you for this! I love this fresh perspective. It really brings me down when people dump on working a 9-5 and this video was so uplifting for me
I needed to hear this today. Amazing and so accurate!
TH-cam brings me joy! I will be doing this full time one day so thank you for the advice Lynette!
You always have a message when I need to hear it most! Thank you!!
