Hey, Mangamist, i don’t know if you’re going to see this, but I was wondering how Gojo would put up against Death from Final Destination, I wondered what would happen, and what specifically death would do to kill Gojo due to his infinity, However there are obviously some things to point out, Number one, this would take place AFTER, Gojos fight with Toji, meaning that Toji is dead and that Curse tool that can Pearce his infinity is gone, secondly, This takes place in between the Geto turns evil situation, meaning Geto and Gojo are still friends. Finally, despite this taking place after Gojos awakening, and since I want him to be a bit more vulnerable, he’s still training his infinity, meaning he can’t keep it on for too long, but he has mastered it so that he can have it on ALMOST constant, but not too much, which would give death less time or a chance to kill him.

Higuruma's case is curious beacuse it can lead to multiple paths.
1.- He refuses to join the jujutsu world and gives himself to the police beacuse of the murders he commited at the start of the culling games and we see a replay of Yuji's escene but this time with Higuruma.
2.- Since he has nothing else to do he ends up joining the jujutsu world as a teacher or mentor or whatever.
3.- He's truly done with everything and ends himself.

The only real reason I think everyone is up in arms about these recent chapters is because it feels like everything is happening so fast, Nobara after absolutely 0 mention since the beginning of the culling games shows up the same chapter Megumi comes back from Sukuna, just seems super convenient and rushed, it’s almost like Nobara was written out because her cursed technique was so broken. Then the literally next chapter after they both come back Sukuna is defeated and they’re just chilling having fun, there’s no post fight sigh or relief, it’s just a “sukuna you’re me” then “hey guys did you miss me” from Nobara, same with Yuta, it goes from oh he could die to “don’t worry about it guys Rika was keeping me alive and then I was able to just be fixed” and we didn’t see anything of it, long story short, I think people just want to see how we get to some of these story beats with gege just telling us how it happened. It kinda cheapens the stakes if they just can be A-okay the literal next chapter and we don’t have any hints or follow through stuff. A solution maybe could’ve shown Rika with an aura of rct around Yutas body to let the more intuitive reader see that and go “huh she’s healing his body that might be important later”, maybe have Nobara and Megumi come back a few chapters apart and flush out their return a bit more, just so people feel satisfied like these things we’ve been waiting for feel like they paid off

You forget the part where being closer to death is part of a sorcerer's life. It was even stated a couple of times in the story. As a sorcerer, you fight and those around you may die and you have to move on because it is the life of a sorcerer. And yeah, Gege don't need to show us how they cleaned up after the fight. And while there are dramatic moments here and there, it is a "Kaisen", the story is about fighting. And would you have Nobara show herself way before and ruin the surprise for readers? They hid her death on purpose just like Gojo initially hid Yuji's coming back to life.

Exactly. Every major plot point that people actually care about are unexplained and there’s only 2 chapters left. Not to mention he spent an entire chapter talking about a plot point that he literally created and resolved in the same chapter, that NO ONE cared about, knowing full well there’s only 3 more chapters. He did one piece level of fake out deaths for no reason, he leaves anything with any sort of relevance off screen. This is just bad writing. It’s bad.
I know Gege is a great writer but this is bad writing. No consequences for majority of the characters but consequences for some. Why?? I would like to know 10 people who would’ve wanted the intricacies of simple donation to be expanded on during the last 3 chapters. Also bringing back characters for no reason at the end just shows that their “deaths” were entirely for shock value, and not to actually write a story.

In all fairness, I get Nobara's return being a "I bet you forgot this" more then anything. There isn't really a character arc associated with her return, she has her entire recovery off screen and just happened to recover enough to be able to hit Sukuna with a resonance at the last possible moment. Not at all similar to Sakura from Naruto suddenly deciding she was relevant, Nobara despite her very chequered record has always been very effective when her hammer gimmick is pulled off at full force (e.g. resonance, and striking Momo with a hammer likely would've killed her if she aimed for the kill.) but I could see from a writing perspective how that would be just convenient She just happened to finally make her presence known the minute she was needed and not any sooner.

  • @Vibes2270
    @Vibes2270 หลายเดือนก่อน +144

I think one of the reasons for fans questioning the writing is because Gege can be a good writer, and has written many great moments, but where Gege struggles in is consistency and pacing.
Like some golden moments are so well thought out and are fleshed out fully, but then others moments feel random with someone saying "oh this happened cause of this thing that we never stated could be a thing, but actually that was always a thing" or sometimes shit in general is just inconsistent
This previous statement can apply to the most recent chapter as most people will point to it due to recency, and while I agree with some of those, I've been arguing about the inconsistencies such as Gojo's "teleport" conditions or Sukuna's cursed tool being taken (among other things) seemed very convenient and wasn't well established beforehand for quite some time. As for pacing, I don't think I need to make a case for the pacing cause it seems fairly obvious and is one of JJK's main criticisms
I still enjoy JJK and by no means am I calling out Gege for being a bad writer cause they're not, but I still think there are moments that are never lived up too their true potential, which is kind of ironic in parallel with the world of Jujutsu

    • @343JustMe

accept that it is consistent. @dr.boring7022 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

Well, the thing with pacing is that it's tough to debate, since pacing itself is not the problem; pacing is dependent on other issues throughout the story affecting it. I think what affects JJK's pacing is its focus on battle, strategy, and the explanation of techniques and abilities.
All of this is amazing, and is the reason why JJK is so popular, but it comes in the way of character work and more world building. Let's take Sukuna for example, not much is known about him other than his overbearing need for combat and destruction. Geto is also pretty cut and dry too. Toji is the first complex villain this show ever had, and Kenjaku had quite a bit on him which makes him great.
The series just needs a bit more character drama and development. I understand Gege wanted to do the 1 month time skip to the Sukuna battle, but we needed more characters interacting before that.
Why has Kashimo also never met Ryu since they're from the same era?
Why is Kashimo so bent on fighting Sukuna, yet we never saw him have an interaction with Gojo? Why haven't more Culling Game characters had a chance to interact with Gojo, someone who from their perspective, is the rumored BEST of the modern era?
Why has Todo and Choso never even been around each other when they both have a brotherhood bond with Yuji?

The weird thing to me is that Higuruma explicitly went into this fight not *expecting* to die, but *hoping* to die. It feels like of all the characters to kill off he was just an easy one to add to Sukuna's kill count

However, I think as readers it’s important for us to acknowledge that he does have weaknesses as a writer, particularly with developing interpersonal relationships between characters.
Overall, it’s not fair to call Gege a bad writer on account of his weaknesses as every writer has their strengths and weaknesses, no one is perfect.
But I think it’s also unfair to dismiss people who fairly criticize and highlight those weaknesses as people trying to hate or bring negativity

I think it parallels the Shibuya incident very nicely. In Shibuya, everything went wrong. Gojo got sealed, a ton of people died, Sukuna decimated the city, and Kenjaku started the culling games. Shibuya is the "darkest hour" moment of JJK. Contrasting this with the Shinjuku showdown, where the good guys made a very detailed plan to take down Sukuna. Gojo may have lost the battle, but he played a crucial role in the fight. He crippled Sukuna's RCT for a large part of the fight and rendered his domain nigh unusable. Then, the whole gauntlet of sorcerers slowly chipped away at Sukuna's CE reserves and dealt small victories to him. This all culminated with Yuji's domain, where he finally lands a finishing blow on Sukuna. The Shinjuku Showdown was a "what if Shibuya went right". Very few people died, the main villain was defeated, and Megumi was rescued.

What I dont like about this arc is that it lacks the consequences that the shibuya incident had.
The shibuya incident HAD MASSIVE CONSEQUENCES, the sealing of gojo brought forth literal hell, the second he was gone, notable sorcerers like nanami were dead, nobara was mortally injured, todo and inumaki was dismembered, maki was burned alive, ino got his head beaten to a bloody pulp, everyone that was in shibuya when sukuna was fighting jogo were either torned to pieces or incinerated, evergkne that was in shibuya while sukuna and mahoraga were either smashed to bits, dismembered, turned to dust, incinerated etc. Yuji's execution was continued and Yuta was sent as his executioner
Shibuya had massive consequences that the characters had to go through. In the Shinjuku showdown however? Not that much. Gojo, choso and kashimo died. I mean the deaths aren't a problem, my issue was that there aren't any meaningful consequences like there were in shibuya. Higuruma should've died a noble death who defended the innocent, yuta should've either died or be permanently stuck at gojo's body, megumi should've been in a coma after eating 5 domain expansions.

@@SpyJamz I liked the deaths during the Shibuya arc although seeing a favourite character die would be devastating. It doesn't mean it's bad, hell it doesn't have to be deaths in general, massive consequences still need to happen after fighting the strongest sorcerer in the world. How did the strongest sorcerer who's main ability is cut things not dismember any of the anti sukuna squad? Higuruma got dismembered yeah but he got RCT to patch it back up. What about ino? Kusakabe? Miwa? Lerou? Or hell how did maki not get heavily injured? She should be bed ridden after eating 2 black flashes and 1 domain expansion that she has no protection against and I know for certain miwa was not fast enough to help her out quickly enough, she got fucking slashed apart.
How did none of the anti-sukuna squad get any scars for fighting the king of curses? One of them should've lost an arm or leg or at the very least gotten scars on their face or arms after fighting sukuna. But shoko has RCT? The real problem with the Sukuna fight is just how incredibly bad the overall plan was. Gege just runs through a bunch of ideas without thinking how a competent group of experienced fighters would use what's at thier disposal.
    1. You have a sword that can one shot Sukuna that anyone can hold as we see with Yuji.
    2. Teleportation you can get anyone out of the fight at anytime.
    3. boogie woogie you can overwhelm your opponents senses making them unable to know what attack is coming from where.
    4. Yuta's domain expansion which can deal critical damage.
The executioner sword, Yuta's domain and boogie woogie are all spread throughout the fight when combining them raises the odds of victory significantly.
Higuruma can just be teleported out leaving the executioner sword for anyone to use then once Yuta and Todo get back from Kenjaku they can combine all their abilities and kill Sukuna easily. They even have Maki to sneak Sukuna with the executioner sword since Todo can easily swap it with the split soul.

My friend and I were discussing the ending to JJK and one thing he said I have to agree with. Sukuna is both the greatest threat and the biggest jobber in the series. I've never seen a final antagonist on the level of Sukuna who during the Shibuya arc absolutely wreak havoc and killing so many characters feeling like such a massive threat only for the final arc to happen and he could only kill a few a people. It makes him feel less like a threat when he's hitting people like Larue with a black flash and doesn't kill them. I also hate the fact he was just "toying" with them because it just makes him look like an idiot. And honestly, no matter what you may say, chapter 269 is awful. An author using their characters as straw men for the audience to insecurely explain why the fight panned out the way it did is bad writing no buts about it.

But Gege also has genuine weaknesses as an author, particularly in character development and pacing like others have said. And with JJK being his first project, that's more than fine. He's already made a good series, and I'm looking forward to seeing him make a great one in future.

Yuuta had Rika along with everyone else, he was never alone. Thats why many of them didn't die except Choso but once more Yuuji was not alone he had Todo and Choso, Higgy was not alone with Uiui teleporting him asap, Yuuta had Yuuji to cover for him and Rika when he got hit by the dismantle. Maki had Miwa in that one needed scenario. A part of a reason Gojo failed was because _he was alone_ by choice. He did not have anyone to cover him for his mistakes mishaps etc him getting chopped in half first aid could not be administered because he was already gone by the time Higgy and Yuuji got there to teleport Gojo body away. He did not have a Rika to RCT him either. The whole point was how selfish Gojo and Sukuna were in which they believed they did not need anyone's help, Sukuna seeing others trash and Gojo seeing others as hindrance. When in the end strength prevailed in numbers, unity, and companions. Selfless love for others.

i think gege has a hard time making people feel stuff/conveying emotions through his writing and i think that's not because he doesn't know how but because he prioritizes other stuff, like fixing plot holes and focusing more on shocking us and subverting expectations.
the maki part should makes us feel things, we should feel that she is angry because she is worried for yuta, because she loves him. gege wanted to convey that but he also wanted to steelman his argument of why everything should have happened they way it did in the fight against sukuna and that takes people out of it and doesn't let them feel the feelings.
having so very few chapters left and so many missed opportunities to let us sit with the characters and get to really know em deeply, like nobara staying dead for the shock value of coming back right at the end is another example of what i'm talking about.

He then later in the chapter says "did that sorcerer's death disappoint me?" I can see why people dislike Higuruma being alive, and I think the dislike is warranted. It's pretty much a fake out death. It's not like Nobara because in her case, Nitta told us that she had a chance at survival, and we were never told outright that she died. With Higuruma, Gege has him think that he should play his role to completion and die in that fight, we see him get hit with Cleave by Sukuna, and then we get a scene that mirrors Nanami's death, he then tells Yuji "I've done what I can". I disliked him being alive and I understand why so many people feel the same way.

The disney kaisen allegations aside, I do feel the ending has tilted into a lord of the rings flavor of suspense, where the characters have been in constant threat of danger, but not many actually lost their lives from it.
That being said, the cast has been put through the fucking ringer, and I'd rather more characters get to walk into the sunset after this historic fight, than gege killing them off relentlessly for the sake of ending the story faster. Keep on cookin penguin man!

Thanks for telling us you did not read the story properly.
What part of those chapters definitively stated that Higuruma died? It was not like the Nanami scene at all. If he did came back, then feel free to bitch about it.
On Nobara, boy oh boy, the moment her CT was introduced most people who can think already had an inkling she will do something in the end. Then there was that "is dead or is she not". She was not done like Nanami as well so we know she could have survived and she was even put in a suspended state. Plus, she is also the natural enemy of Mahitor, a guy with powers in relation to souls (and Sukuna is also functioning on manipulating souls). And then Yuji asking and not getting a verbal response but only a look. And then the rest of the story every readers half-expecting her to come back. Then the whole soul thing with Mahito and the resonance she did with Yuji's brothers and later was called back. I mean there were signs! Too many signs! The moment I saw her use her resonance on the body part of Yuji's brother the thought immediately cross my mind, well, Sukuna's fingers are parts of himself, how convenient if Nobara gets one of those. And then a lot of TH-camrs even made theories about how she'd do it. All the elements were set way back in the story. And as readers, we should just put our hands on our face and say either " I knew it!" or "Oh my, why did I not realize that". And since you probably did not get that, you are one of those "I did not see that coming, it is bad".

That is such an unserious way to bring her back into the mess. Not to mention just randomly share yuji's moment when he clearly he himself was sure he could kill sukuna. Its unnecessarily sharing yuji's victory moment..someone who the stakes with someone who did not.
If megumi shared the final attack it would have been leagues better as writing and if u cant accept that then its ur problem
Coming to higurama. There can be a million reasons for why higuruma dies.
Even gege himself couldve ouright stated on the next page he has lived.
But the way he departed from the field with the emotions used by gege on the field draws clear or atleast partial parallels to nanami.
Its just a blueball sucker punch moment to get someone invested in a death and do a fakeout.

  • @benjaminschneider9147
    @benjaminschneider9147 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

It was obvious Higuruma didn’t die. They carried him away, his death wasnt as brutal as Gege normally makes it, and Sukuna was surprised that his cursed tool was still gone even after Higuruma’s “death”. I also theorized that Sukuna held back because he didn’t actually want to snuff out the talent of Higuruma. Which Sukuna even touched on right after Higurumas death, but denied and still noticed he changed because of Yuji. Later on at Sukuna’s death he still denied being Human even though he was (although he was a very cursed and unfortunate human). Even Yuji recognized how Sukuna’s denial of being human caused him to become like a curse. He is called the king of cursed for a reason. Not because he is king over curses, but because he is the most cursed and unfortunate being in the series. Just as Rika was the most cursed girl in the series(cursed by selfish love). Sukuna was cursed by a lack of love. Due to all this I believe that Higuruma lived due to multiple reasons; as a way to show Sukuna’s cursed humanity and Yuji’s influence on his life, a sort of way to show the fandom the life of a new sorcerer, a redemption of nanamis death, and as a plot point to show the humanity that sorcerers hide to be able to stay confident and sure of them self in the face of overwhelming odds.
P.S.- the entire series, Gege purposefully causes us to view sorcerers as far from human, and to see them as dealing with problems too complex for us to understand(being fully exemplified within Gojo and Sukuna’s lack of Humanity). But within that confusion, Gege uses Yuji to create a bridge between our own simple lives and humanity and Sukuna’s overlooked humanity.
Sorry I went off on a tangent, it’s just hard for me not to when fans get so obsessed with ideas which Gege already explained away.
Although I glaze Gege’s philosophy and writing style, I am kind of annoyed at some of the ways he just seems to pass from one idea to the next without giving downtime for the readers to think about what just happened. So although I believe the origin of Gege’s philosophy and his ideas for the series are perfect, the way he executes them definitely isn’t. But I put some blame on Shonen jump for rushing Gege.

    • @benjaminschneider9147
      @benjaminschneider9147 หลายเดือนก่อน

That’s the reason, although not my favorite part of the series, I appreciate the Mahito Arc because of how Gege handles Yuji’s growth as a sorcerer and his ideas as well as how Nanami and him speak after the mission about the importance of a sorcerers mission and how they handle death. Another example is Shibuya and how the downtime afterwards and the preparation for the culling games allowed for the fandom to understand Geges themes and writing choices. But after that and we came to the final two arcs of the manga, Gege began to rush his writing even more than normal and lost that downtime and break for the readers. And I hope that the anime fixes that.

Hearing you talk about Higuruma's narrative arc and the way it ties into Yuji's arc and reasons for living and what Yuji represents makes me again wish that it was Geto who remained as one of the final villains. Alot of what Higuruma was struggling with reminded me powerfully of Geto's struggles and it would have been amazing to see Yuji and adult Geto meet and argue about their ideologies, especially since they both have ties to Gojo. IMO it would have deepened the narrative and their characters even further. Kenjaku although potentially interesting with several powerful plots as his set up never lived up to his potential for me. I still can't believe one of the biggest Chekhov's Guns in the series - him being Yuji's mother - was never explored! Like Gege why write it at all then?! Just my opinion, but it's always seemed like Hidden Inventory was the deepest, most well written arc and the fallout from that and the battle of ideologies stemming from the trauma of the JJ world was the core of JJK. So I do think Geto being one of the final villains would have been better and things like the links to Sukuna could still have been woven in with a Kenjaku like figure Geto was aligned with or some such. Thanks again for the analysis, I appreciate the way you respect others' POV, but also stand up for your own.

I think Higuruma surviving isn't anything in the good or bad category of writing, my biggest critique of GeGe is the direct, stares-into-camera defense of his writing 269 represents. Nothing about the outcome of the story, but the way he used an entire chapter to tell, rather than show, explanations for his previous writing. It's arguably even worse, in that rather than telling-not-showing at the time of an event, like having a character narrate what's happening, he's revisiting events dozens of chapters ago and having a character not just explain the event, but explain why something else didn't occur. It's one thing for there to be a point of contention; for a particular story beat having a viable alternative that wasn't utilized. But, the most optimal thing occurring doesn't always happen, and it isn't bad writing for a writer to not have the best course of action undertaken by their characters. The part where I draw the line is GeGe very obviously understanding the gaps in his writing, and then doubling down by trying to narrate an explanation that ex post facto makes his writing iron-clad.

I think one problem readers had with this arc and manga is they keep forgetting how little in-verse time has passed. To them these people are recupertaing after being dead/dying for years but it's often only been a few days/weeks. Having the Sukuna fight drag on as long as it did was I think a bad decision on Gege's part and this is a symptom of that I think. Plus this "yapter" would have been better in little chunks in-between bouts of the battle, probably, but oh well. I'm just happy Higaruma did not get the easy way out and will have to find a way to use his gifts for good and come to terms with the harm he did in the courtroom that day.

Honestly the 269 hate train has been bugging me out. Some people really need to go touch grass. Mangas don’t get the same level of editing a book does but get held to the same standard when actively circulating. There is only so much to be done with you’ve get a tight deadline and less time for deep critical feedback or to rework a whole drafted plan. It’s pretty solid for a years long project with a very specific style to storytelling that tries to keep any detail out of the authors main desired points, pithy as hell.
I did think Higurama was dead but a read back and considerations for what they had going, makes sense. Readers across different medias, book series, managas, original anime’s, tv series, etc tend to expect you need a lot of deaths for a final fight but if you’ve been dealing with an antagonist a whole story, logic would point that by now you should have built wisdom to give a better fight and see less net loss.

i don't mind the fewer deaths and all that nonsense the community is complaining about, what i mind is that with 3 chapters left we got gege trying to steelman an argument to the fans (why the fight should have happened the way it did) instead of spending some time with characters that we missed for so many chapters (megumi and nobara) just so their return would be a shock. we should have also skipped all that yuta in gojo's body plot. i know there are parts of that that had significance but they didn't outweigh the bad and again, it felt like a cheap shock value thing.
in general i'm ok with how things are ending in jjk and i enjoyed the whole experience of following this show but some of the misses make me feel so disappointed. it not even that they are bad, it just feels like wasted potential.

Gege was cooking with Higarumas survival and he laid down the exact path to it:
Kusakabe said that the only people allowed to fight Sukuna were people with reversed curse technique or a death wish because facing Sukuna without a way to heal is asking for death. Higaruma fell into the death wish category but learned RCT on the fly against Sukuna which earned him the right to survive, thematically. He stepped away from his suicidal feelings to evolve as a sorcerer and person. He actually had a very similar cog mentality to Yuji but way more depressed about it, but he broke away from that to do what he thought was right (help defeat Sukuna.) Gege treated this positive character development as atonement for Higaruma’s sins, and spared his life.

Yeah, 99% of people who thinks that Gege's writing is just bad seem to be people who just can read and have very low level of comprehension. I mean, sure there were complicated parts, but for the most part the entire story is straightforward. Gege puts elements to set things up, some go far back, some a bit too close but he does put them there. There are only very few legitimate claims when Gege fumbled something. Even people criticizing him for just going straight into the fight without fully showing how they all prepared for the last month failed to recognize the value of integrating them in the fight scenes and creating surprise for both Sukuna and us readers. Then this ending chapters is where he reserved the exposition dump and people complained there was not much talk during the fight scenes. Well, they are fight scenes and we already hate it when characters just yap in the middle of a fight. People who complain just don't know what they want and they can't read. At least point out something that is really bad in the actual writing and not just "I wanted this to happen but Gege did not write it" or "Other authors always show this and that and Gege did not". At this point, do you really want to read a story? When it is unpredictable people these same low comprehension people hate it, when it is predictable, then they also hate it.

Technically, Higuruma is a curse user and has some similarities with Geto. They both snapped and killed people in the event. His so-called "redemption arc" doesn't mean it's not bad writing. the whole chapter 269 is one of those people tend to call bad writing and dislike, because its only purpose is to fill plot holes. it reads like Gege either noticed some after he wrote the battle scenes, or he was made aware of them by others (editor, someone from his team, etc.) so he wrote 269 to address the issues with some dialogue. in general, that's what is called lazy (bad) writing, or making up excuses for your overused plot armor.

I’m not upset that Higuruma, Yuta, and Kusakabe are alive, however, them all still living takes enormous emotional weight away from their respective “last stands”. Yuta taking over Gojo’s body meant extremely little in the grand scheme of things. Sukuna choosing not to kill people in the heat of the moment is weird. An actual training arc would have felt much more grounded than the randomness we received in terms of countless flashbacks, and would have felt like a much more natural way to talk about simple domain. Maki disappearing from the battle completely after Sukunas domain actually makes less sense with this new explanation chapter, genuinely could have rushed to sneak Uraume so Hakari could come and domain clash, or just helped Yuji and Todo. Much of the story feels worthless when most of it was used to setup both Kenjaku and Uraume as major threats. Just because Gege takes a chapter to explain it, doesn’t mean I’m swayed to his side. Gege has made really weird choices towards the end of this series, and really screwed up the payoff for much of his setup, which is an example of bad writing.

I disagree with the take on Higuruma for multiple reasons. As opposed to Yuji, Higuruma had given up on his good/optimistic/empathetic side, he killed people and he had no more will to live. So him ending up in arguably the same situation as Yuji (alive and "well" ?) makes the whole pick an ideology and stick to it idea from Gege inconsequential. Higuruma should have died, or at least should have been punished in a serious way. Narratively, it doesn't fit with Jujutsu Kaisen's initial concept which is that choices HAVE consequences as in real life, all paths do not lead to the same puppies and flowers ending. This is what has been illustrated with Geto, with Sukuna as he died too.
This is a huge issue because after all it's missed plotlines and wasted characters (like Kashimo and Hakari), JJK still had it's nature of being a serious and somewhat realistic ( in the sense that people die, things happen, decisions make a difference ) mainstream manga. With this end, basically everything that was done by Gege in that direction gets undone. Yuta is a perfect example of that, in what way did he become a monster if the only thing he did was just make Maki a tad worried for him ? And I'm betting we'll still hear about Gojo to top it all.
However with Kusakabe, I agree that it was a good choice and narratively made sense, he was a somewhat weak sorcerer in the middle of a war that surpassed him completely, the whole point of the character was to fight for it's survival and in the last moments he gave up on that for the good of the team, it makes sense that he was rewarded.
Finally, the ending is disappointing because the only consequential deaths we'd have will be Kashimo's and Choso's : Kashimo just to show that egoism doesn't work but it was made all so quickly and kinda wasted the character that it feels bland. And Choso who was a cursed spirit but joined the "good" team and got rewarded for that with death, also doesn't make sense to me.

So he entered the zone .I don't understand why readers believe that jumping sukuna with everyone would work when the show goes on to tell us that gojos best fighting condition is alone and pressuring sukana like what yuta said he would do by going to help would actually just cause sukuna to play more dangerous cards.

This is bad writing. I gave Gege a lot of leeway this whole time but this is just another level of fumbling. This is pell’s explosion from one piece, but transformed into jjk. If you’re going to milk him off then whatever, you’ve already set that precedent, but just leaving all the major plot points + the most important 1vs1 in the series’s ending off screen, but instead choosing to spend an entire chapter when there’s only 3 left, yapping about simple domain, which nobody cares about, is actually insane to me. It’s bad writing. And that’s fine. I like JJK for the most part but if you’re going to sit here and tell me that all of this was well executed then you’re just delusional.

The real punishment for Higaruma is to keep living, to learn from his mistakes, not to die and be able to not care about anything anymore
