    Yes, I was shaking a lot in that video. I have a vitamin B deficiency that I'm working to resolve. Please do not comment on it! I don't want to feel self-conscious. This video is highly educational, so let's please focus on that! Thank you!

      Thanks, I appreciate it! I've got some other videos that I'm going to make where I'll be showing various other redirects coming soon! =-D

    Always good teaching from you! SCAM is my favorite redirect I think now.

      Thank you so much! The SCAM is definitely a great redirect. It can also be used for mechanical advantage on a limb walk with a slightly different tying method, which is amazing. For anyone curious, here's my video for the SCAM redirect: th-cam.com/video/l_kO7tnrmik/w-d-xo.html Thanks for commenting on one of my older videos! Great to hear your opinion!

      @Knot-orious I use a Unicender for my climb devise, and SCAM is my go to redirect. I'm going to try the mechanical method next time I climb, looks better than a prusik and pulley I was using. Cheers from a florida tree worker!

    It looks simple and useful. I'll have to practice it. Thank you

      You're very welcome! Definitely give it a try. You can use a regular carabiner in lieu of a Revolver Rig (it just won't pull out as smoothly), and you can use any rated pulley. Thank you for thanking me!

      Thanks a lot! I'm really glad you enjoyed it! Yes, I had people watching me, which happens from time to time! A little distracting, but nothing serious. Take care, my friend! Thanks for your continued support! =-D

      Thanks, I really appreciate that! My shaking doesn't bother me, but I always notice during the editing process and people have bitched about it in the past as if I'm not already aware of it haha It's no big deal. Anyways, I'm glad you enjoyed the video! Thanks for commenting! =-D

    Very nice man. I have a similar setup with a Teufelberger Multi Sling and a DMM Revolver. How do you like the Dyneema slings compared to a Nylon sling? They look alot smaller and lighter.

    • @Knot-orious
      @Knot-orious  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      They are much lighter and are rated for 23kN, so basically the same as any Nylon sling you would use for a redirect. They don't last as long as Nylon because anything made with Dyneema should be replaced every 5 years, assuming they are undamaged at that point. Nylon lasts a few years longer. But that's really no big deal because they were only $25 each, if I remember correctly. I have a 60cm and a 120cm, which pretty much has me covered for a large range of limb sizes. The ones I have are by DMM. I love that company. They make so many high quality pieces of gear. Thanks for your comment!

    That is an overhand knot. And if you set it up the other way you would have less risk of getting your gear caught even higher up in the canopy as you pull it. Set it up so it comes straight to the ground as you pull it and it will be less likely to get caught up in a crotch.

      I know. I misspoke. But thanks. That tree had limited options for setting up demos. I appreciate your advice. I did the best I could with what I had. It got the message across and that's what matters. Thanks for commenting!

    Sometimes simple solutions are the best. I have some slings I do not use so I can try...
    And lucky you... I shake because I'm scared of the height. And this is not a problem I can solve with a few pills. But I love trees so I climb anyway... Strange choice of hobby, but I trust certified gear.

      I absolutely agree with you. Simple solutions are almost always the most ideal and the most effective solutions. What wasn't made very clear in this video is that this redirect is meant to be used ONLY if a climber plans on making one more natural crotch redirects after it. By having your first redirect be the one shown in this video, it will help a climber to much more easily pull out all of their redirects at the end of a climb, from the ground. As for my shaking, I appreciate you relating to me over it. Unfortunately, my vitamin deficiency has so far been resistant to any of the supplements I take, and so I am left continuously shaking without any way to actually solve the problem permanently. I plan on looking into whether or not I might be able to get regular injections instead, and perhaps this might help my body absorb the B vitamins more efficiently. Just like yourself, I'm not immune to sometimes experiencing a bit of fear when I climb, but a bit of fear is often healthy for a climber, helping to ensure that they stay focused and make smart, deliberate moves and decisions, keeping them safer than if they were completely fearless. Despite my shaking, tree climbing is my obsession and my passion. It certainly is an unsual and extremely obscure hobby to have, but nothing else piques my interest, nor gets me as excited, as tree climbing! Thanks for commenting!

      I know. I just wanted to make the demonstration of retrieving it simple and quick. If I did it with a throwline, it would of taken up more time in the video. But I'll probably do it going forward. EDIT: Actually, I caught it and it just hit a limb right below it, so I wasn't that concerned. But still, you're absolutely right.
