This Republican proposal is not directed against non-citizens but rather is designed to restrict the voting pool. It takes time and money to obtain evidence of citizenship no matter whether a person is a citizen by right of birth or by naturalization.

I they were to question my citizenship they would see proof that I have been voting continuously for over fifty years but it still would not prove that I was born in the United States. Must I produce a birth certificate? Will the citizens of the United States not be allowed to vote until authorized citizenship documentation is presented?

How the heck we are suppose to prove we are 'Citizen's? Do you have your birth certificate? I have no idea where mine is at and suppose a 100 year old person supposed to come up with a birth certificate considering that many births were made at home. Another play to disenfranchise voters.
