I’ve owned both my first car was an 05 Saab 9-3, then I got a s60r and man I loved that thing. Needed money at the time and I sold it, which I heavily regret. Now I have a 1999 Saab 9-3 SE. all fun cars the Volvo was my favorite but be warned . The r is a money pit.

I've sold my former UAE spec import 9-3 for a volvo for now too, but it's s80. Was looking for s60r at first but ended up going for a bigger and more comfortable vehicle for family. Nice video and review!

See you are missing som C pillar trim and top B pillar.
Do the intercooler first before the tune, it is a weak link in hotter climates on the R which can lead to heat soaking, which can lead to knock or overheating which is pretty much guaranteed to crack the 2.5 block.
No, no, no the Haldex system doesn’t have a center diff it had a hydraulic clutch which is more or less part of the rear differential,
No the body kit wasn’t standard, it was a factory aftermarket, it is known as the “Challenge kit”.

I’ve always loved these, the Atacama interior is just beautiful (when in good shape though). I even considered one before I got my 2.8. I’d say they’re awesome until they crack the block, something this dude definitely has to consider before tuning it 😀

I sold my 2.8 v6 6spd saab sportcombi... and got an S60R haha. Tbh I like the saab more but the s60 has half the mileage and parts are more readily available. Also 5cyl sound!

Since this car will be at your house, I’d love to see more on it. Maybe some mods and repair videos (of course if the owner wants to do that). It’s not a Saab, but it’s still Swedish so it counts. Also, fun fact if you didn’t already know, Volvo at this time was owned by Ford, which I find funny since rival Swedish brands being owned by rival domestic brands.

I saw this for sale on Craigslist...or maybe it was Facebook marketplace awhile back for almost a month!? If it wasnt Christmas/Holidays I wouldve tried snatching it up. Then noticed it was Sold. A few days later I saw it driving down Scottsdale road/Curry. I gotta admit I am a little jeally, but the miles personally made me a little nervous since I was in the market for a daily commuter. Nice score, I am still in the market for one.

Really wanted one of these before getting into Saab. AWD, 5 cylinder and 300 hp was all very intriguing but then I learned about the common cracked cylinder heads.. Sad day. Not many affordable replacement R engines in the states..

Cracked block you mean, but yes Volvo 2.5l blocks are a lot more prone cracking than their smaller displacement 5 cylinders with more cylinder walls. The easy fix is to just shim the block. But lots of people either shim the factory block or just sleeve it. Swapping to a smaller displacement 2.4l or 2.3l block is also an option. Not many people crack the block/cylinder walls under 400whp but it does still happen sometimes especially if they’re overheated.
4C is not early version driving mode, it's most advanced one, there's still no one similar system, it's not simply adjust dampers comfort or sport, it adjust adaptively 4 dampers independently and also adjust steering hardness also adjust AWD for to which wheel send power, also ABS which makes body incredible balanced, I've C7 A6 Quattro also, also F10 BMW 525d xdrive, also Skoda SuperB 2.0 TSI 280HP 4x4 with magnetic süspansiyon, no one is near to S60 R handling, one additional information to guys that drive car but doesn't know it exactly, it has most advanced steering at 2003 made 2004 year models, it haz parabolic servotronic ZF steering that Porsche and AMG gives as options to their top end models

Jacob, have you driven the newer S60 T6s, 2013-2016--the V6 Turbo AWD versions? I've owned both a 2008 and 2013 S60 and the although I enjoyed both cars, the 2013 was much more taut and quicker than the older version like you tested.
i have not! might be worthwhile to test it out though
T6 is Inline 6 not V6. Great engine BTW. But S60 ii gen is so soulless compared to old S60 and S60R in particular
@@mkkoper you’re right, it is an inline. Realized I mistyped that but forgot to edit. However, I disagree. I enjoyed driving the 2013 much more than my old 2005. The old ones had the turning radius of an 18-wheeler and drive like a much bigger car. The newer Gen was taut, lighter feeling and much quicker. Interior was open and much more Scandinavian clean minimalist. That’s just my experience and opinion.
@@SkootrH In my opinion the 2nd generation is definately a better daily driver. What I meant is that fo me (that is my opinion) the 2nd gen is just another car while S60R is timeless.
In its stock form it doesn't feel fast.
It's a heavy car and 300hp and awd just doesn't feel fast. It needs 400-450hp

I think I would give a year's worth on my earnings (and a year's worth of yours) to be able to buy a brand-new S60R today. Unfortunately, in my puny community, no one has the equipment needed to service these. Today's Volvos just don't have the soul that this generation of S60Rs did. Sigh......
