    Great video! The HID/Bi-Xenon headlights were an available option for the P2 generation (before they went to the plastic lens) S60, XC70, and S80. Not many people purchased the option, hence you won't see them often. Don't worry about miles, I have 228,000 on my V70R and it runs great!

    • @wheelemverb
      @wheelemverb  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I didn’t know that! My neighbor has a p2 xc70 with HID headlights, I thought it was retrofitted, didn’t know they weren’t R-specific (I guess they would have 4 R logos if that was the case)

    • @rikardandersson7288
      @rikardandersson7288 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Atleast here in europe you still had the choice between halogen or bi-xenon/hid even with the facelift plastic lens headlights, and for MY07 came an option for adaptive projector bi-xenons called Active Bending Light. The "bi" in "bi-xenon" makes more sense for the european version where we have a separate high beam instead of drl, over here the tilting up of the low beam mearly assists the high beam and not replace it completely. A fun little side note is that the R retained the glass headlights all the way to the end of production despite the move to plastic for the rest of the range with the facelift for MY05

    Makes me so excited to get mine back soon. I got rear ended in it and pushed into another car at the beginning of February. Recently drove it up to Virginia this past weekend to drop it off at a shop that specializes in repairing wrecked volvos. Can’t wait to see more videos what you do with yours!

    The 04-05 automatics had like 50 less horsepower for some reason, but us men drive manuals so that didn't affect us. Mine was tuned to around 365hp and was fun as hell. Very laggy boost (unless in Advanced mode), but as a daily it was super fun and didn't matter. If you buy one, and are a man who works on your own vehicles, put your set of Torx bits on the top shelf. The only cons I can remember are the poor steering radius, very short gearing, and always worrying about the angle gear. Also if you get the aero kit, hesitate before every speed bump. Otherwise, mostly pros. Those seats were heavenly - so amazingly comfortable. Tap the traction button 5 times and you're sliding around in the snow, forgetting everything else. Above all that, the absolute best thing about these cars that not many people mention was a button to knock down the rear headrests for better visibility. Got an annoying passenger back there? Punch them in the back of the head.

    In my opinion the 2004-2009 Volvo S60 was the ultimate "Everything" car.
    It was fast when you needed it to be...
    It was classy when you needed it to be...
    It was practical when you needed it to be...
    You can take your S60 to the track, to the dirt and to downtown and it would feel comfortable in every scenario.
    An absolutely amazing car.

    I've got an s60 2.5T from '05 and been driving it since 2014! Sure the all wheel drive makes tight turns clunky af, but it's amazing on freeways, and when I had a blowout on the freeway that left a tire in two pieces, the car just. . . didn't react. I only knew there was something off by the way the road sounded and still had time to get over six lanes of freeway and onto the shoulder. We've replaced the whole radiator and rebuilt the transmission for more than the car is worth, but the thing's paid for and it's better than risking something new right now.

    I just bought an almost fully specced out '07 with 107k miles on it for my daughters first car. She totally scammed me by showing me one that was a biohazard that had been stolen, but there was this one just down the road from our house! No accidents and one owner! I had no idea what it was until I bought it and started watching You Tube videos. My wife still doesn't know what it is. It will be bad if she ever finds out.

    I had several iterations of the Audi 5 Cylinder engine as my first cars, which Volvo adopted. I loved the sound of the 5-Cyl engines and the addicting exhaust note and torque curve. I miss my driving my Audi Coupes and my UrS4, but as you stated there is a lot of maintenance with 100K+. I don't miss those costs.

    • @tmbardsen88
      @tmbardsen88 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They did not adopt it. It it based on volvos own whiteblock inline 6. The diesel D5 up to year 2002 om the other hand is a pure VAG engine until Volvo made it s own D5 based on the T5

    • @BugThorn
      @BugThorn 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Half true half not, only VAG diesel 5 cyl is 2.5 TDI as it is also named. All D5, 2.4D are derived from Volvos 5cyl gas engines.

    The S60 T5 and R flew under the radar as serious performance sedans as they don't really have the "look at me" appeal like Mercedes and Bmw. If you own one you have a more unique car that always shocks passengers and other road users

    Welcome to the club! I have over 160k miles on my 2007 S60R I picked up in 2013 as a college graduation present. IT's SO GOOD. And I love the 6 spd manual.
    I usually role sport myself.
    The car was defeinitely adhead of it's time and I did Uber in it for a while in 2021 till 2022 and people kept thinking it was a 2013 car and were shocked when I said it was from 2007. YOu can tell it isn't brand new but it also doesn't look old.
    As a reliability note, I drove from Sandford Florida (Near Orlando) to Atlanta, GA (500 miles about) on a Broken turbo that culd not produce boost due to a blown bypass-valve cased by rusted charge pipes that could not hold pressure, which eventually the caro overcompensated too much and just blew out the control valve and cracked the turbo in half. I had to floor it to go 63mph, but it got me there just fine .
    The computer systems all failed during a flood Iwas in in Flordia and I had water up to the mirrors but it still drove just fine (I have a water resistant cover on my custom airbox or it would have probably drowned, but Iv'e seen stock volvoes drive thoruhg water over the hood so...)
    If you get Active Chassis computer failures, just have the dealership or yourself reset the computer, it should fix it. I have to do that once every 4 years roughly, the last time I actually wound up not driving the car for a month and when I got back in and was going to go get it fixed/reset the issue was gone.
    Car had 4 previous owners and they did not take good care of it. I've replaced almost everything in the car at this point besides the AWD system, the left rear strut, and the axles, and the engine and transmission. But one of the first owners was in PA and the car had a lot of rust damage when I Got it. Florida did not help with the rust.
    I also had to replace 2 of the struts due to my own driver error, and one more from a pothole that ripped the front bumped under my car. so that isn't the car's fault.
    I've never been in a situation where I could not drive the car out of an issue either (the pothole I did not though because my wheels tires were busted, but the car still drove.
    It may have some quirks and weird issues, but it will Always get you there.
    I'm glad you are getting to enjoy your own! It's great to hear what my car sounds like from outside from time to time! Great recording!

    You HIGH BEAMS are broken, when you turn on your high beams the circular projectors are suppose to turn on.

    Replace those US headlamps with euro specs.
    Way better highbeams as the DRLs are used as dedicated H7 spotlights instead

    You know Willem it would be nice to meet you f2f sometime. I'm orange county not too far away from where you live in the LA Metro area. I own 4 cars. 1989 Nissan Sentra (project car), 1998 Honda Accord (daily), 2000 Volvo S70 SE (project), and my new toy 2023 Toyota GR86. I own over 100 cameras.

    Do these have the same transmission issues that the normal S60’s from 2004 have? I own one and it slips sometimes, usually after idling.
