  • The second act, which is the whole reason I made this encode in the first place.. and it's really not that great yet.
I think it would be neat to make the viewport a bit more dynamic and instead smoothly follow the midpoint between Sonic & Tails; that way, it'd always keep Tails in view. I'm amazed that Tails can go that far down away from the camera in the first place.

Yes. Definitely. This is amazing. To make it more dynamic, you could go for 4K.

The last one I uploaded is in 4K, actually.

This is really exciting. Sure there are some improvements possible (such as more dynamic camera positioning) but this already changes the entire understanding of the level and it would help clarify a lot of the other ones too. I love it.
Other ideas: Could you stop the vertical ring loop markers from being rendered? Move or remove the score/lives layer? I'm struggling with how a background layer could possibly be added in a visual pleasing way, but that *seems*(?) like it'd be cool if it could work.

Yeeeah, plane B will be a bit of a mess to add. I could likely make it zoomed out to cover the entire screen, but I'm not sure if I should mess with the pixel scaling. Maybe enhance it with xBRZ or something like that. Oh, and rendering horizontal offsets would be kinda iffy..
The loop markers are rendered because they have the "hidden" flag set. I'm currently exploring solutions for automatically deducing which objects have to be rendered (the bosses suffer from the same issue), but I'm pretty sure I can just hard-blacklist some of them.
Dynamic camera positioning should be possible as well, I plan on interpolating the midpoint between sonic & tails in some kinda smooth manner.

I wrote a program myself. You can find it at hyper.is-a.cat/gogs/x10A94/atlas-s3k/

    What is sega atlas?

In essence, it is an encode of a run which extends the viewport significantly to let you see a lot more of the game.
