    I love your monologue at the end. I lost my husband in April suddenly. This summer my daughters and I have done lots of things with family members and have had a great time. You're so right edd, i tried this shoe at the local nike store yesterday and boy are they stiff and warm. I still prefer the old turbo 2, a hundred times over this. I think this one is more of a casual shoe more than a performance one

    I don't know what Nike is doing these days. I want 2018-19 back. Epic and Odyssey React, Zoomfly Flyknit, Peg Turbo, Peg 35/36. And they still had the Next%. Not only were these shoes more functional, but they were also more attractive.

    • @EDDBUD

      Some classics rights there. They have taken a weird turn recently!

  • @Yulfi
    @Yulfi 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    I ran ten miles in the Next Natures, and my feet felt good in them; these sneakers aren't as comfortable as the Invincible Run 2s, but they're better than the Zoomfly 5s in that department. Compared to the Tempo Next Percents, the Next Natures are less propulsive, seemingly thinner in the forefoot, and a little less forgiving because of the lack of "squash" in the midsole.

  • @DeadGlassEyes

    Was waiting for this shoe and I was tempted when it dropped but I wanted to wait for your review, and I'm glad I did. I think I'll go Peg 39. My 38's treated me incredibly well.

    I love that everyone is slagging this shoe off 😂 I love it as a daily trainer I never found the turbo 1 or turbo 2 a really fast shoe but they were great as daily trainer. Also like it’s a bit firmer with a bit of bounce as most of my other shoes are soft. Hopefully with all the shoe tubers saying they are bad, no one will buy them and I can pick up extra pairs cheap 😂 but do agree I could do with a pull tab 👍

    • @EDDBUD

  • @cameronthaijohnson
    @cameronthaijohnson 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Agreed. Doesn't feel like a Turbo. It's more comparable to the Pegasus 39 but not great at that either. It's an okay daily trainer, but It's stiffer/slappier/clunkier than the Pegasus 39, not much lighter, and it doesn't feel softer or bouncier. The upper is less practical and comfortable.
    Basically, it's a worse version of the Pegasus 39 that is more expensive.

    Before the advent of the super shoes, I ran a full Mary on a pair of NB Zante and the Puma Faas 500. And, yes, the Nike Peg 36. As a much older runner now spoiled by Invincibles, Rebel V2s and Novablasts, not really blown away by the Nike PTNN, but not entirely let down also. Which brings me to the musical interlude: absolutely on point! Thanks for that.

    Hi Edd! I purchased a pair at the end of year’s sale and I felt the same as you did. The midsole is inconsistent between the two shoes. I feel the left foot firmer (like 40% less bounce) and lower stack compared to the right side. I never had a pair of shoes so different. The concept of the recycled materials is good but they need to improve the quality. This will impact the biomechanics of running so I will use them as a sneaker probably. And I won’t buy any Scrap-X shoes again unless they improve this.

    Turbo 2 was my first ever ‘proper’ running shoe when I got into running during lockdown 1, absolutely flogged them to death and there’s probably still some life left in them. Incredible shoes, still probably the best shoes I’ve run in… Cannot describe how disappointed I am with this ‘reimagining’ of the Turbo… Nike are getting absolutely left behind by the likes of saucony, ASICS and new balance, and even Reebok are producing better (and far cheaper!) daily trainers. Think nike need to start listening to their consumers rather than just releasing lazy ‘sequels’ to existing products… ok rant over, gonna go and walk around the house in my Turbo 2s now and enjoy the nostalgia…

      If Nike hadn‘t released any new running shoe model since 2019 they would be doing fine. I don‘t now what happened, have the wokesters invaded the develpment teams now too? I began with a Winflo 6 and went to a Pegasus 37 because the 36 was already out and I was looking to try the upcoming release. Love those and will get the 39! Thanks for clarifying what I imagined when I learned about the nike grind in these smh. That stuff let me down when I tried whatever it was that they introduced them on... LOVE your outro ❤

    Great review Ed although this is why with your 30k plus subs you didn’t get sent a pair, as a viewer though I appreciate it though. Whatever anyone says if a shoetuber is on Nikes (send to) list and gets sent a pair they ain’t gonna trash it too much because they will be off that list for the next release. Oh dear! Actually though I rather like this one and did 7 miles on Saturday where I just got faster and faster and 16 miles yesterday - my longest run for ages. Not bad for a "lifestyle" shoe. I think I might have found my old railway firm & dry "trail" shoe as most of those miles were on one. I used the previous Turbos a lot for that but never found say the higher stack Speeds as good and so much more a pure road shoe for me. I appreciated the relative lightness. At 333g for me in a UK 13 it is more or less the same as my Alphafly 2 and certainly significantly less than the Zoom Fly 5 (388g) and bit less than the Peg 39 (355g) and I could feel it being both lighter and more nimble. Also it is has a low to the ground feel which I did recall from the previous Turbos. That feel I found ideal on a non Tarmac surface. Modern max cush max stack shoes without a plate would just me be wobbling around too much. Once on the road it was OK and going bit faster has a nice flex at the front which is ideal for my style. For sure if expecting say a cheap Vaporfly because of the "ZoomX" going to be disappointed. OK it is not going to be great in the wet but I have just bought the Peg Trail 4 GORE-TEX for those days.

      @@EDDBUD Just checked back to that era (2015-7) as was trying to transition out of Boston (5, 6, 7) when the largest 12.5 just got too small for me but was still racing (even a marathon) in the Adios 1 which came up fraction longer. Good they finally addressed it this year. Anyway I tried the Peg 31, 32, Zoom Elite 7 (I had worn the earlier versions a lot), Streak 5 and looks like I managed about 100 miles in total in them so the "struggle" with Nike daily trainers isn't a new thing for me. In fact thinking about it, other than a spell in those early Zoom Elites and Pegs circa 2000 I only tended to wear Nike flats & spikes. I liked the Streak LT3 in that 2015-7 period but that was basically a spike with no spikes so only a "now and again" shoe. It was really the Peg Turbo and 4% that got me back into Nike on a more consistent basis. What were you using?

    Had around 40km in them so far and, although I was so excited when they have been released and I really wanted to love them….well, I just can’t…I will use them for 50/60 Km more and if they don’t break up I will send back to Nike…Luckily I still have three pairs of Turbo 2…I would suggest Nike changes the name of the shoes scrapping the “Turbo” from it because it’s definì misleading in terms of expectations above all for all those who have loved the old Turbos and have been waiting for the 3rd version. Thanks fo the review.

    re interlude, Yes of course I have the regrets , You do not ever appreciate youth when you have it as it is always our first time around the block :-) both a Joy and a tragedy at the same time. However, I use those reflective moments as a springboard of positivity .. and have ensured the second half is very full for as long as it lasts my running musical mystery tour of a Shoetuber. btw I managed to get hold of a now discontinued pair of the Altra Escalante racers for £110. (7.9oz in UK 9) light , no plates, no instability & snappy .. I think I got the better of the deal.

    Some of the forum posts about this shoe's quality control are hilarious and frightening. Apparently Nike hasn't figured out how to correctly measure the Glue-to-ZoomX scrap ratio. There are ppl receiving shoes where the Left shoe's midsole feels normal, but the Right shoe's midsole is like 70% glue, rock hard, and instead has a shiny/plastic texture instead of soft, chunky, recycled ZoomX pieces.

    Great review and especially the heart felt andv emotional advice at the end of the video. I can contest, life is too short and we NEED to take every opportunity to pay homage to things we routinely take for granted. My story is one that I hold dear and I take everyday as a blessing and I am extremely grateful for still existing in this life. As far as the Next Nature shoe, I think I'll pass. Your points on comparison with the original turbo 2 were spot on 👍. Stay safe and keep these great videos rolling. Obviously it’s gonna be hard to put on if you don’t untie the laces before putting on the shoe. The rubber isn’t carbon rubber so what would you expect? And it’s not like you need a runners knot if the lockdown is already perfect. HOWEVER it is interesting that it doesn’t feel the same considering Nikes using scraps of foam(hopefully not from used shoes)

    Why didn't Nike just drop the word Turbo in the name and be done with it. Thank you for this review . It seems Nike sacrifices quality for nature hype . I feel they try to make profit not with awesome products but with nature fanatics and image . Also I feel they deliberately nerf the shoes in order to charge big money for Vaporfly and Alphafly . The only other shoes from Nike I find useful at all is the tempo next % and invincible . -- the zoom fly 5 I did return 3 times since ether left or right food the foam was softer / harder then the other or the weight difference (L and R shoe ) was too much to accept … also I did developed “runners knee “ after my try out weeks with the zoom flys … I did return all of them . ever since the pain never came back .
    I feel they just can’t put exactly the same pieces in hardness and weight into both shoes equally and this results in one leg compensating for the other leg . 10-15 gram + different softness can keep the body’s natural movement off balance . This was the case for me . I won’t ever buy a scrap zoom x shoe again . Just received a new turbo 2 .. got lucky to find it at eBay in my size . Awesome shoe . Streakfly in cool ;) . Cheers and have a great day
    And yes … summer feeling . I ask my self this question often … I should play more with my child (i have the time luckyly) I should go out more with my little dog … time is passing … another summer … . But yes it’s not easy to life in the moment is it ?
