Where i work,in 2019 the hospital had 1 medical doctor and only 3 consultants. Interns were posted, i saw them literally holding the hospital together with no one to direct them. My best friend could go 72 hours with no sleep. I cannot remember the number of times i had to check on her just to make sure she has eaten. We ( other carders) nurses, nutritionist, clinician depended on their judgement! So when i see someone like Kuria talking trash about interns my heart bleeds! Anyways its there time to shine

I dated an intern ,and it was terrible 😢. Never got time together for that whole year. A 5 mins good night call never ended, he almost always slept in the middle of a call, and not on his bed ,on one of the empty beds in hospital, and many times hungry. If he got time to go eat,he would trade it with a nap😢.

This is the mindsets of many Kenyan leaders thinking they climbed the ladder easily while they themselves knew they started low and now belittling those who start in the same positions. They will never understand the work of an intern giving them most of the works and others aren’t paid let alone be underpaid . This interns isn’t only applicable to doctors only but to all sectors

Intern Doctors are employed as Management Trainee like all other Graduates in both Govt & Private sectors. Management Trainees are paid salary not stipend to students. The reason discrepancy in the salary is the nature of the work. It's long odd extraneous working hours with a lot of risk of contracting disease and abuse from the patients & relatives. Practicing medicine and surgery is both physically and mentally and psychologically demanding. Let us pay interns what they deserve. Our MTs salaries are also too low leading to corruption.

Medical intens are there 24/7 even as the supposed doctors "dodge out" . Though I don't know how they dodge out yet they still manage to treat people and perform operation, deliveries etc. I guess those who treat those patients are imaginary doctors I guess.

In fact Kenya must come from a realization that as time goes by not all graduate doctors will be absorbed by the government.
All doctors were absorbed by the government because we had fewer graduates but as medical schools increase in number , we must now rethink. Only teachers and doctors were all absorbed but as trend continues they will become like any other profession. Hired on demand.
