Every time I see people at events, they always look like a blast. Unfortunately it also always triggers the same anxiety in me that used to trigger when I played cards competitively. Makes it tough to get myself in a good mind space to travel and spend the money.
@@AoSCoach That was the plan for an event 2+ Tough ran recently near me until my furnace died and I had to get a new one. I'm still hoping to work my way through it for another event, but it takes a lot of mental effort to get to that point.
Thanks very much coach for flying out to LVO. It meant a lot to the community having you and personally I loved catching up with you over breakfast for dinner at Denny's on the last night with he Tough Crowd crew! Thank you for the quality content like this recap and all you do for lifting up the hobby!
When I was stationed at Nellis AFB with the 4450th TFG (F117 program when it was black) in the late 80's and early 90's I was part of a group that started putting on a gaming convention annually. I don't know if it's the same group, or another but it's nice to see how big the gaming convention is now in LV.
Woo! It was great to meet you, Coach! Loved the Tim-Tam! I got to see myself in my buddies there in the video, but seeing my firehaunt on the screen truly made my day!
Looks like an absolute blast and great to see everyone embodying the fun that should be had even with competitive games in mind! :) I've never been to an event on that scale myself for Warhammer but it does seem increasingly more and more one for the bucket list. Thanks for a great recap and insight Coach! :)
@@AoSCoach off the top of my head I'd say vlogs about preparing for tournaments which could be anything from list building to travel arrangements or what goes into setting up your own tournament.
2:12 : Anyone saw the aussie influence in this car ? :D Thank you coach for the view from the train window... reminds me good times in Australia. What a beautifull country ! Thank you for showing us how nice these events are. I wish i had the budget to go there.
Had an awesome time at the LVO and the ENERGY at that awards ceremony was amazing. Chanting and banging on the table 😂. Was awesome. Can’t wait for next year!
I completely agree with you! I'm not that good of a player, and I still always have a blast. AoS players are some of the nicest people in war gaming. If you haven't been to LVO, Adepticon, or Nova Open, you have to go at least once!
Scooter made it to the Grand Final and lost to the winner in a nail biting final. Both the brothers made it to the semis as well as walked away with best in faction awards for the overall ITC
Vegas is a great place for the wife because there are lots of things to do outside of the tournament. I heard plenty of people will be bringing their partners to the next one
Hey, great vlog! I wonder, how strict are the model rules on this big tournament? Are 3d prints allowed? Are mixed loadouts allowed (e. g. clanrats with both swords and spears) as long as the player clearly announces the weapon choice?
Most tournaments will allow 3D printed models as long as it clearly represents the Games Workshop equivalent including size and basing. Players pack will say models should be equipped with the correct weapons but I couldn’t tell you how well that policy is policed
My Discord has a lot of events being posted but it really depeneds... there is no real master list of all tournaments sadly, there are just too many. Often regions will have a Facebook group or Discord or some communication channel that they use to primarily share... but if you hit me up on my Discord I can help point you to the right direction. Link is in every episode if you aren't there
We had a really friendly and fun local tournament scene until 2 over competitive players kept traveling from out of town to win just to get grand tournament entry credits and it killed the whole experience for me
Sorry to hear that happened. Perhaps the incentives can be recreated that distributes the prizes more of a lucky draw or a way to tailor it more to that friendly approach
The short version is - tournaments are not for everyone. I understand why people like them, I've done plenty of competitive gaming. Yet not everyone has the mental/emotional bandwidth to handle 5 competitive games in a room of even 12 people, forget 100+. When I was 10-20 years younger, like most of the event goers it was much easier to make it through an event. These days just thinking about an event drains me.
That's fair and certainly it isn't for everyone but I hope for the people who are interested the video showed what happens inside the halls and it isn't as scarey as people think tournament gaming can be. It is a big day but I always find I'm fuelled by the community... maybe i'm just a weirdo
Was really great to meet you Coach. Content like this and HWG's interview with Noah makes me want to see a true netflix style Aos documentary.
It was an absolute pleasure meeting you and playing next to you at the event. I'll hit up Netflix for an exclusive... let's get a film made

I can only empathise because I don’t understand. All I can suggest is to start with small events and grow that muscle over time. Its worth it

Fantastic recap! It was a blast!
It was great to finally meet you both and if I could, I'd do LVO again next week.
Master Chef huh?!? You’re too kind! Thanks for coming over and having lunch Coach!! See you next year!! ;)
What a great recap Coach! Loved it!!
Thanks mate! Take me back already

Please do come out to a big event one day... be LVO or one of the other large events. What makes it special is what happens outside of the tabletop.
Kicking myself for not making the trip out to LVO! I'm glad you had a good time, particularly with so many of my fellow Texans.
Would have loved to have met you mate. I need to get back to Texas somehow...
Dude, great to meet you and chat a bit. Thanks for making the trek to the USofA. Keep up the great work!
Absolute pleasure meeting you in the flesh. Hopefully we can do it again soon... honestly. LVO '24 has to happen
Love this video! Looking forward to your "more details" video on games 🤗
I just scheduled it for next week so you won’t need to wait long
I LOVE these type of videos. Great job.
Cheers Steve. It's a nice reflection on the event and just remembering how much I enjoyed it
It was fun being part of the TO team. Glad you could come!
Thanks for all the help. These events don mt happen without your sacrifices
4:39 upper left pic, that must be how a modern Sigvald could look like irl :)
Aaron is a smooth cat... probably is Sigvald reincarnate
It was great to meet you in person coach! LVO was incredible, cant wait for the next one.
Back at you mate. Hopefully will meet again next LVO
Looks like you had a great time Coach, off to Warhammer Fest in April.
I’m jealous.. though who knows, maybe GW feel kind and want to fly their favourite bearded Australian AoS creator to Fest 🤣
Great video/vlog, you definitely should make more of these videos!! Thank you!
What other style of vlogs would you want?

Was that the Land Down Under on the car? Tom made me an Aussie playlist 🤣
Loved seeing so many familiar faces! great vid
It was surreal seeing so many faces that I knew online finally in the flesh...
The @AoSCoach and @Bulldoghammer meet was so wholesome
It was so much fun to finally meet the boys. Such nice lads
Nice one Coach. Looks like it was a great event.
It was incredible. I'm counting down the days til the next LVO
Looks like fun. My friends just got me into AoS. Looking forward to LVO 2024
Welcome to AoS. I hope to meet you at LVO 24

Oh no… have I actually made this storytime a real thing

I kinda regret not filming the awards ceremony with the ITC... I wanted to enjoy the moment. Scooters antics still make me laugh
Great video, posting my discord. Was a memorable time

Thanks heaps! Hopefully I was able to capture why tournaments are more than just competitive games

Hey Coach. It was a pleasure meeting you at LVO. You are a heck of a nice guy.
Thanks mate... that's really nice of you to say
What a legendary video. I hope to go to this someday!
Hopefully 2024... I'm aiming to go back to the LVO. Would be great to meet you Lance
It is ‘Storytime with Coach’! A great account, absolutely cementing the dream to get to LVO.
🤣 i would highly recommend it. Makes me wish we had this style of convention in Australia. CanCon is great but these US ones take it to the next level
You make som good quality content, Mr Coach. Please keep up the good work, it's very inspiring 🙏

This is a great video I didn't no this is what I was missing but it's great 😃

Scal United hype !
Almost could have titled the show was sponsored by Scal
I'm hoping to make it next year, once settled with kids.
we'll have to have one of those hot chip challenges if you come next year... I think you'd have a ball
It was a pleasure meeting you at Byron's table, coach! Are you going to ACO IN June?
I wish I could make it to ACO but the East Coast is a massive trip for me. If I can make it out it would more likely be NOVA
One day I’ll make it to an LVO…
Perhaps 2024? I certainly want to return

You Australians are great, sound kinda alike I'm not sure if I'm listening to Ozzyman, AOS coach, or this Gardner dude I listen to.
I'll take that as a complement... Ozzyman is pretty cool and if the Gardner is Bouke's Backyard, you're onto a winner 🤘
@@AoSCoach self sufficient me is the gardener, and I didn't mean it as a insult I love listening to all three of you.
Tournaments? One day... one day... maybe when I retire!
That’s way too long (unless you’re at retirement age now)
From talking to my friends that go to events, AoS are way more fun to play n compared to 40k. If I ever go it's gonna be AoS they have way more fun.
I don’t play 40k so it’s hard to compare but your feedback is similar to what I hear… though I’m sure 40k is a fun game too 🤣
