Wish i had seen this sooner. On one game my screens blocked the movement of my centerpiece, on another one y sent the centerpiece first and it just died 😅
Really awesome video! Enjoy the historical reference. Its ironic that some people would say that stringing out lines of models is "gamey", when in reality thats exactly how actual battles were fought.
I've heard that so much, really anytime you do anything tactical I've found some people call you a powerplayer or gamey. I really dislike that. Play by the rules use the rules to win. Simple :)
These technical videos are awesome, keep them up! Would love to see a follow up about deployment against different kinds of armies and maybe a bit more about the tricks of base blocking that you mentioned here.
I'm still new to AOS and having trouble with unit coherency. In the example with the 10x mortek guard screening in front of katakros, with the requirement of being within 1" of 2 or more models wouldn't they need to be in 2 ranks of 5 models due to their size?
Honest to gods, you teaching me to win AoS is just what I wanted in life, your work book is good but I learn better through watching and doing so this video is perfect! Please make more.
Great video, provides what’s not in the rule book…How to play the game! You’ve already improved my game, so any other explanations of ideas I can try will be fantastic. It’s interesting you mention, knowing what your opponent will do, how do you assess your opponents army and determine what their key pieces are and how they are likely to want to play them?
All this is great, but I need some real world examples. With units and abilities that make it tricky. Maybe a supplement video eventually? 'Here's how this person deployed so they could get to THIS position round 1 to zone out their opponent' 'Here's how this person has built their army to make zoning difficult.' 'Here's how two players tried to control each other in this battle plan that has very few objectives.' ...or something similar. IDK, just a thought.
Enjoyed this video and thanks for the clear explanations on screening and zoning. Are you going to do another one on zoning in AOS 4.0? Rules have changed and putting 10 models in a straight line isn't allowed anymore (I think). How do you handle the double file screens since they have to be close to at least two other models? Like you said in the video, charging units now have an easy time just turning around the screens. I play Gitz btw.😉
Finally! Another tactics/strats/I'm bad at warhammer so I gotta learn VIDEO. Great explainations! Maybe a video on army TEMPO next? I feel like thats a more big brain concept. Maybe a video about why you hate Warcry? As Peachy seems to think its the best game ever...
This would have been a lifesaver the other night, my opponent managed to make a 9" charge on turn one with his Treelord (swung it into place using the damn overgrown terrain) to obliterate my ranged Kruleboyz units and the swampcalla That second Mortek example didn't look coherent to me though so wouldn't you lose part of the squad regardless of combat?
Ive just started SBGL against my sons Ogor Mawtribes, These videos are awesome and have given me great ideas for my zombies and black knights. Thankyou
Much love to Rob! What you do for the community cannot be overstated. However I’d like to point something out incorrect in the video. JK!!! # youtubethugglife
How does this screening apply in Old World? Would love to see a video like this for there, it feels much different to a noob like myself, especially when you end up pursuing the enemy down farther into their lines? Love the videos!
Not that not all light skirmishing infantry were 'low class peasants' and looked down on. Sciritae were held in the most honoured position of the Spartan line for example. And Ekdromoi are probably the closest to the idea that 'anything can be a screen if you're brave enough'. Deploying to fight in the phalanx but lightly equipped to rush forward and fight in irregular formations if needed. Like using your Lumineth Wardens as a shining company at the start of the game and splitting them apart to be as wide a line as possible to screen.
Since you can end your charge within 0.5", doesn't that mean you need to ensure your screen's facing baseplates are within 2.5" to guarantee a counter pile in vs one rank or single model units?
16' 21" - goes and reads 12.1 properly and has tiny mind absolutely blown. Hadn't realised that about piling in units that have charged, wow, wow. Brilliant video, as usual
Perfect video as always :) your greatest fan from Czechia :) - i would love to see in depth video about movement and also teaching when to commit and when not
Great video, as much as i am aware of most of this stuff, it really helps for a visual learner like me to see it in action. I might actually be less shit next time i play 😂
I have really focused on making my buffs, debuffs, and health clearly represented on the table with thematic easy to read tokens. This above all else has made for a better experience for both me and my opponent. Could you make a video bringing awareness to this. 3 inch measuring guides for staying out of range during movement and 9 inch for summoning and deep strike
@@TheHonestWargameryou should do a deep dive video on cover, terrain, and garrisons. Because we suck and are probably not utilizing/using them properly
Fantastic video that explains the theory well, will be super useful for not only new players, but also more experienced players trying to improve their level of play! :) Thank you!
Amazing recap. as a tzeentch player i love my endless spells and use those as screens as well. my friend playing SCE was always furious when he tried to charge with his Karazai and realized he cannot physically fir his base between my unit and an endless spell model
Loving the presentation and your style! More lectures need guitar solos haha New player here, so this is a great resource for how to deploy with future turns and win conditions in mind. 👍
Hey Rob. Great video, but one thing that my wife has pointed out when I was teaching her to play. Deep strike isn’t a term in aos. She mentioned that I use a lot of terms that don’t exist in the rules book and in these videos it may be good to use the new terms for things like “set up” instead of deep strike. Minor I know but for new people coming to the game it can be confusing. Again great video.
I did another video on terms and wordage. While I agree, aos is the abberation and setup is odd. I use deepstrike, outflank, scout as these are almost generic terms in wargaming to me but it's noted and appreciated
No war but the class war!
forever
Underrated comment.
Squayr bast
Rob is my favourite breadtube creator
So true
This is useful information. Now I can lose on the second turn.
Glad I could help

Can’t wait til it goes live! Always looking for great game play and tactics instruction and information!! You always present this info so well for us!
Love this! Hope to see more strategy guides
More to come!
Your best video ever. Best. Keep 'em coming.
Wish i had seen this sooner. On one game my screens blocked the movement of my centerpiece, on another one y sent the centerpiece first and it just died 😅
This kindof video would be much awesome if made in a visual fashion. Tons of photos.
Please do more techy stuff!
I absolutely love these videos. Thanks so much for making it. And the editing was just phenomenal. A+
LETS GOO AND THANKS
Awesome video. Really want more of those!
The screaming cut aways ruined me 😂
Really awesome video! Enjoy the historical reference. Its ironic that some people would say that stringing out lines of models is "gamey", when in reality thats exactly how actual battles were fought.
Yeah I've always found that so odd when that's literally what armies really do!
I've heard that so much, really anytime you do anything tactical I've found some people call you a powerplayer or gamey. I really dislike that.
Play by the rules use the rules to win. Simple :)
I would like to see an in depth video on terrain placement. Great video Rob!
As a beginner, I second this :)
Third.
These technical videos are awesome, keep them up! Would love to see a follow up about deployment against different kinds of armies and maybe a bit more about the tricks of base blocking that you mentioned here.
I also second this :)
You should teach people when and how to retreat. It is a powerful tool that too many people don't use.
Play Skaven. Learn fast.

This is such a good video. More like this please.
How can the second unit of gruntas pile in if they’re outside of 3 ? (Not being sarcastic, genuinely a bit confused)
What about coherency rule? It looks like some screen units in the examples ignore it... is it gone?
Really wish there were more videos like this. Movement should be critical to strategy
It is
I agree it is but I meant it’s not spoken about nearly enough in videos like these. People prefer to speak about army lists more

A good general rule of thumb is; A, what does the most damage, and B, what gives out the most buffs
Let's gooooooooo!
No thank you I love loosing R1 and complain about it on social media :D
Thats actually the best way to play
All this is great, but I need some real world examples. With units and abilities that make it tricky. Maybe a supplement video eventually?

It's in the way

I will try x

thanks cutie

Another segment that could be interesting is debunking each army, real quick what counters them, strongpoints, do's and dont's, key-units etc.
Ah mate I thought this was the AoS guide to screaming and moaning, I thought “finally, something I’ve mastered as a skaven player”
Since you can end your charge within 0.5", doesn't that mean you need to ensure your screen's facing baseplates are within 2.5" to guarantee a counter pile in vs one rank or single model units?
I dont make military, so in case of war i would be just a basic Soldier... a single Screen guy🤣🤣
Not enough Harlan Ellison references in wargaming. Also this video is excellent. Thanks Ron.
Amazing video and pretty instructive! I expect more on talking on archetypes!
Well done.
16' 21" - goes and reads 12.1 properly and has tiny mind absolutely blown. Hadn't realised that about piling in units that have charged, wow, wow. Brilliant video, as usual
The combat gauges and 9'' measures look so neat and useful. Are they available for purchase somewhere?
Perfect video as always :) your greatest fan from Czechia :) - i would love to see in depth video about movement and also teaching when to commit and when not
I love it Rob. Do make more you gorgeous beast.
I am confused about coherency now however, you can conga line units again?
This is legit very helpful. I'd never thought about screening out objectives before.
Oh that zoning tip would have been handy last Friday when a unit deepstriked behind me. He just fit into the back corner.
Transcendental video. Third eye opened. True wisdom achieved. 10 out of 10
Thanks for everything you do for community, including the screams
Amazing video, but i got a really basic question - where are these really cool dragon ogores from?
So glad to see this content picking up from you rob. I still say this is what you were always meant for!
Came for the clickbait video image, stayed for the hope of turkish monks.
Grandmaster Rob! Look forward to more quotes from “some old dude”…. Nice scream btw
Half an inch is always important
we got them
fantastic video! wish it had come out back when I first started playing!
Very helpful thanks, looking forward to deployment!
Great video, as much as i am aware of most of this stuff, it really helps for a visual learner like me to see it in action. I might actually be less shit next time i play 😂
I'd love more in the series for this one! bit of a different question but I'd love to know what models those are for the Dragon Ogres
Just found this video , wounded if lessons in this video can be carry over to 40K ?

Sounds really good
Could you do a video on how to effectively and efficiently explain your army to your opponent?
Dude, you are the best! Such a funny guy :) Im laughing more than i learn here :D
Sorry sorry hold up can we just go back to that intro video. I need the source what was that 😂
Greetings from Germany 🇩🇪 great video Rob. Liked and shared it with my club colleagues. Cheers.
Well written, funny and now I don't have a excuse to be a so so pro
Keep meaning to try AoS, never got around to it though.
its a solid game
Great video can't wait for the next one
Really appreciate the support

Appreciate you a loy
Honestly Rob, these are the best videos! Keep on doing those please :)
Really helpfull video would love to see more like this in the future!
Not all heroes wear a hats, but you do!
- this is fundamental not only for new, but also "struggling players"! Thanks for explaining that!
Wow Rob where are those dragon ogors from in the first slide those are awsome!
Im new to Aos but what about Coherency rules?
Just made the move from 40K to AOS love it great video
awsome video. do more like this :D thank you
The units you put show as screen....they are not in coherency😅
Amazing recap.
as a tzeentch player i love my endless spells and use those as screens as well. my friend playing SCE was always furious when he tried to charge with his Karazai and realized he cannot physically fir his base between my unit and an endless spell model
That's great. I might show that in another video if people want to see it

Always good to remember this stuff !

Gief-steal all your secrets yes-yes. Great video.
Fantastic video!!! Thanks Rob!!
Thanks for the advice! :D
But where can I buy your combat gauges!
I love the tactics vids, the more the better.
great video rob, keep up the great work :-)
This is such great information.
More like these, soo informative!
Awesome video, thanks.
Good video Roberto Big Schlongo
The tag lines were a great idea. Made it look professional but the text added alot of humor. Love " Rob thinks you suck" 😅
