In today’s video, we are taking a look at the Top 10 Worst Airports in Africa.

It is true that Africa has a few good airports, some of which outrank those of them in the western world, but that does not erase the fact that Africa is one of the continents that have the worst airports. This ranking was done based on the condition of general amenities that are always required to be in place in every airport as reported by users. They include things like security services, conveniences, availability of restaurants, accommodation facilities, staff attitudes/customer services, etc.
In all these, the airports here have fallen short of providing good services that travelers prefer to avoid at all costs whenever they have other options. You can only subject yourself to the gory experiences in these airports when you are left with no alternative, but it's good to inform you beforehand because to be forewarned is to be forearmed.
10. Douala International Airport, Cameroon.
Douala International Airport in Cameroon has faced widespread criticisms over its outdated facilities, poor customer service, and security concerns. Passengers encounter challenges navigating the airport, experiencing long wait times. The limited amenities include poor restroom facilities and inadequate seating, adding to the dissatisfaction.
9. Murtala Muhammed International Airport Lagos, Nigeria
The Lagos international airport, located at Ikeja near Lagos in Nigeria, has long been infamous as an unpleasant terminal for travelers. Its history dates back to its construction during World War II, originally known as Lagos International Airport. However, in the mid-1970s, as a new international terminal was being built, it was renamed after Murtala Muhammed, a former Nigerian military head of state

Despite being one of the two international airports in South Sudan, Kotoka Airport has struggled to improve its reputation among travelers due to the persistently poor conditions. The limited alternatives available to passengers have forced them to endure subpar facilities and services at the airport.
7. Cairo International Airport, Egypt
Cairo International Airport, despite being one of the busiest airports on the African continent, has consistently fallen short of meeting the expected standards for an international airport. According to reports on the website "Sleeping in Airports," passengers have expressed their dissatisfaction with various aspects of their experience at this airport.
6. Luanda Quatro de Fevereiro International Airport, Angola
Quatro de Fevereiro International Airport is the main international airport in Angola and the largest in the country. It is located in the southern part of the capital Luanda, in the Luanda Province. "Quatro de Fevereiro" means 4 February, which is an important national holiday in Angola, marking the start of the armed struggle against the Portuguese colonial regime on 4 February 1961. In 2009, about 1.8 million passengers were counted. However, the airport has suffered continuous deterioration over the years. Due to the airport's deteriorated conditions, the country is constructing another airport to take its place.
5. N'Djamena International Airport, Chad
N'Djamena International Airport, the sole international airport serving Chad's capital city of N'Djamena, faces several challenges that make it an airport that many travelers do not wish to pass through more than once. The airport serves both civilian and military purposes, with separate installations on opposite sides of the single runway.
4. Dar es Salaam Julius Nyerere International Airport, Tanzania
Julius Nyerere International Airport, serving Dar es Salaam, the largest city in Tanzania, is the primary international gateway to the country. Located approximately 12 kilometers southwest of the city center, the airport is operated by the Tanzanian Airport Authority and offers flights to various destinations in Africa, Europe, and the Middle East.

I have not watched the video, but Murtala Muhammed airport in Lagos, Nigeria BETTER be on this list! I just left Lagos last month (June) and there is NO A.C, NO SEATING FOR CUSTOMERS, 90% OF THE EMPLOYEES BEG FOR "BLESSINGS" MEANING MONEY/TIPS AND THE REAL KICKER IS, I FLEW NONSTOP ON DELTA FROM ATLANTA (11 HOURS), DEEPLY PACKED MY MEDICATION FOR A MONTH'S VACATION. LEAVING ATLANTA MY MEDICATION WAS THERE, ARRIVING AT LAGOS IT WAS GONE! LOL, THEY STOLE MEDICATION SPECIALLY TAILORED TO ME! Absolutely shameful!
You are never experienced to avoid mishaps in this Lagos airport. Twice, I was left with the impression the lawlessness that prevail there was out of hand. Imagine having to pay over 500usd over tips before you leave the airport and also going through 15 check points before getting on the plane. Those check points can force you miss your flight if you become a non cooperative greaser/tipper. I don't wanna go back there.

@@OriginalGaPeach yuh, call it whatever, but that's a bitter experience I had and hate that place to the core. Its a rotten place, period. At the time you would miss your flight and have more stress and more discomfort in that environment of horror. You just wanna get out and never come back. Why would you even have to bribe even with a penny when on transit ? Airports are never meant to create bitter experiences if you have done nothing wrong.

I can't believe my country Liberia is not number one on this list! I don't feel proud to say it, by the way. A few years back, Air France threatened to stop flying to Liberia after their aircraft tires hit a pothole on the runway, almost causing an accident. Very recently, flights destined for Monrovia have mostly been diverted to neighboring Sierra Leone either because there's no light at the Roberts International Airport for planes to land at night, or there's no jetfuel for planes to refuel before they start their next journey. I did not hear any of the above issues mentioned about any of the airports mentioned in this video. Please visit my beloved Liberia and do an exclusive on our airport.

Correction: Kotoka International Airport is the Ghanaian airport in Accra. The South Sudan International Airport is simply Juba International Airport.
Thieves and scammers at the Cairo International Airport comes as no shock. I stayed in Egypt for four months and was taken aback by the number and ingenuity of schemes pervasive throughout Cairo.

Airports in South Africa are of top standard,I've flown into and out of Jan Smuts airport many times and landed same amount of times at Frankfurt and Zurich airport and believe me it's up to par with these mentioned airport's, Durban airport is also good and Cape town
@@eisbeinGermanyI have been to South Africa many times and I agree, the airports are not chaotic and the amenities were great, up to standards of a western airport, probably because South Africa is already a pretty westernized country in some parts

Many of our African governments are so notorious for stealing from their nations public works projects, instead of working towards improving infrastructure they steal the funds for such work to buy arms, entertain concubines, buy strings of expensive vehicles for their obscenely long motorcades etc etc the list is so long... Most European airports are bad, in efficient aging staff , inadequate immigration facilities and old buildings less than avg duty free facilities..and food options. Prefer Gulf stop over for transatlantic flights..

Lagos Nigeria MM Airport is a horrible experience I worked for 10 years in Nigeria, leaving was the best experience, no a/c , zero food outlets, and airport staff asking for bribes money iam talking about the immigration staff.
I prefer Ghana because it's nothing like Lagos.
Nothing changes, absolutely no interest to return to Nigeria agan, my 10 years was a overdose... Sorry Nigeria!!

You people miss the worse airport in Africa
In my opinion,most African airports should be on this list,maybe excluding Addis Bole and the SA airports.The airports in Ouagadougou,Maputo,Abidjan,and Bangui( the worst )should def make that list,way before Kinshasa. If you list only 10,than you chose the wrong ones.Kinshasa airport may be small,but new and pleasant.Lagos has a new international terminal too.The narration is boring and repeats necessary improvements,which are copy paste.All African airports suffer from lack of decent A/C,not just DAR.Douala is the worst for AC,and that fact was not even mentioned.The only way for foreign travellers to navigate this airports hassle free is to use paid for escort vip services,that will process one quickly without hassles.
In short,I find this video unhelpful,as 90% of all African airports are a nightmare,not just these 10.
Lol please remove Ivory Coast 🇨🇮. Over there they respect most travelers which is why it calls a country of hospitality. I went over there last month, it was a great experience and a beautiful airport without forgetting the good model infrastructure, and advanced security system. Even the customer services are helpful. So I don't even know what are you talking about.

i think South African airports are of the best in Africa, ,, i fly between Germany and SA every year, been so many times to Zurich Hannover Frankfurt and Jan Smuts and believe me SA airports are good quality
@lowplanofficiel8549 I used to live in Abidjan just over 20 years ago. The "old" airport was a borderline hellish experience, especially if it was your first time in Abidjan. But during my time there, they started a multi-phase huge upgrade and expansion. By the time I left, a large part of the first phase was done and it was so, so much better. There were better sitting areas, restaurants, shops, vastly improved customs areas and especially baggage claim.
I took a look at websites and Google Maps recently and now I don't recognize the airport. It is now surrounded by high quality hotels and special business districts. The interior could resemble any European airport. So I would have to drop ABJ from any worst list. I've been to far, far worse...ahem...Monrovia and Lagos...
Narrator should have done a bit of research on how to pronounce the name of one of Africa’s greatest statesmen - Julius Nyerere.
They should learn on Rwanda.

I find this list is not reliable. I have travelled across Africa and know several others who have travelled across Africa. I have seen airports in other parts of the world. Please this list would have been better if you tell travellers to give reviews. Otherwise it's crazy why would one single handedly opine and judge on a such a big topic. Just start video asking reviews of airports will make sense. Otherwise this is crazy.

Well Cairo does have very nice airport. Very clean and modern. However extreme hassling and begging from cleaning folks and when you use the bathroom hasslers are begging for money. Lagos MM airport is a fuck*** disaster. Corrupt, unsafe, thieves, unsanitary etc. No police or protection anywhere you are on your own if you ever go to Lagos MM airport.

This video is absolutely wrong and lies! I recently flew in and out of Julius Nyerere airport and I can’t tell it is absolutely the opposite of what the video depicts. It is very clean, beautiful, modern with the palm trees outside giving the great feeling with the nice Tanzanian weather! This video is a pure lie!
