Thanks for sharing the 'other side' of Dubai - it's definitely an eye-opening experience! Don't know if you got as far as the spice souk... it's filled with the most amazing smells and vibrant colours, worth a visit (and not so many bag sellers there!!) 💖✨️
More like the Bronx, Brooklyn and then Queens. Queens is pretty decent and surpasses both the Bronx and Brooklyn in quality of life. However, Dumbo in Brooklyn is like the new Manhattan. Williamsburg and Park Slope is pretty expensive as well so Brooklyn is taking the lead. Gentrified AF!
A friend of mine lived there for a few years. I’m shocked you walked around with that type of shirt there. Wow. My friend wore loose linen clothing because anything tight fitting brought too much negative attention. My friend is a white collar worker.
My parents took me to the exact same places you showed, 20+ years ago. It looks like literally nothing's changed. I remember being taken up some twisting stairs to be shown knock-off goods.
Every city has two faces. One that you see all the time and another that is hidden. You did such a great job. Never been to Dubai but this seems like the most realistic video I have seen so far. Can't wait to visit
3:00 I wouldn't go there if I were you because the police often raids those shops from time to time. Any customer caught there during such raids may be considered aiding and abetting an illegal trade!
@@Lamideelizabethit's really easy to get jammed up there. It's not the USA or Europe or even Japan. They make up the law as they go along. Trans have been detained at the airport for 12 hrs. No food. Then put on a plane and sent home. This was because their appearance didn't match the sex on their passport
I was teaching in Tajikistan and needed sinus surgery and so ended up in Dubai. It was not a destination spot for me, I've always considered it "the mecca of materialism". One of the first things I noticed was that everyone in the service sector was from Nepal, the Phillipines, India, etc. locals were few and far between. I wish I had done more research and known about Deira--it seems culturally more interesting!
I also had random cars slow down when I was waiting for a taxi or going for a walk in JVC it was very creepy and disappointing. Even taxi drivers who would ask where I was going, just overall a very unpleasant experience.

Do you need someone to travel with you? If so, I am interested in learning more to be able to move out of the US into a greater country. Are you a mentor? Can you teach me? Can you help me get sponsorship trips?
You talked about the lady skilled in sewing, that she came to Dubai into a building with sex workers and she does not know anyone, her consulate and embassy is there to take care of her. Just some advice before coming to Dubai contact your consulate or embassy ask them for a mobile number of an embassy worker in case of an emergency, never go inside a residence upon your first arrival. Check into a low cost hotel and do your homework ask to first see the business in operation, ìf they claim to have a tailor shop first go to the tailor shop ask the worker there to contact the owner to confirm you will work there. You couldn't find a taxi because buses are cheap and available. You know that standing could be misinterpreted that you are a prostitute so walk around till your taxi arrives. Stray cats near the entrance of restaurant means that restaurant is feeding them Customer left over.
