Solved: TV blinks or goes blank / black for few seconds

  • If you are experiencing the issue where your LED/LCD TV goes blank for few seconds every now and then, then the culprit is probably your HDMI to HDMI TV cable. The one you have may not have proper shielding which does not protect it when any voltage fluctuation occurs or when a tube light is switched on. The fluctuation is passed to your TV and so it blinks or goes blank/black for few seconds. The solution is simply to install a high-quality HDMI to HDMI cable.

Mandeep. Great video. Straight to the point. Precise. New better HDMI cable solved my problem. My TV was blanking off (black screen) for a second when my fireplace fan was turning ON or OFF. I am from a nordic country. The fan Electro Magnetic Interference was causing the TV going off. The fan is a thermostatic powered by heat.

You saved me... I bought this TV brand new.. 55 in.. Visio... 4k.. etc.. I play a game called Elite Dangerous... it puts..I guess a lot of changes on the tv.. so I was going crazy.. it kept blanking out.. I would switch from the game to the Computer to look up things and sometimes it would black out and not come back I had to turn everything off and turn it back on. Then I saw your video. I bought the best cable I could and boom.. the problem was gone... Thank you so much.

Hi Mandeep! Thank you a million times, this video saved me a lot of money! My 65" samsung curved 9 series started to blink since I bought over a year ago it ran out of warranty, I was told that I had dead pixels on my monitor, it is more cost effective to buy a new one. just as I was about to consider buying a new TV I came across your video I purchased the exact HDMI cable you mentioned above. I put it on and the blinking stopped right away. Videos like this are priceless! Thank you so very much!!

I recently brought Sony X9000F Andriod 4K TV, when i used to switch on/off a tube light, flickering was happening as shown in the demo. I called Sony customer support, they said there might be problem with earthing. I even checked that, no luck. I tried many things. I was using MX Hdmi cables earlier. I used the HDMI cable link provided by Mandeep, and replaced the HDMI cable from set top box to receiver and receiver to TV. AND THE PROBLEM GOT RESOLVED.

There can be multiple sources of interference. Speakers, lights and other equipment can cause interference. You have to isolate the cause. If the HDMI cable you are using is fairly old, you can try swapping it and check. Also connect the HDMI cable to laptop or other device and stream movies on TV. See, if the screen problem occurs. Try all these troubleshooting steps.

Sometimes it’s the heat plate in the back. It gets to hot and it goes black.
You’ll know it’s that if you change the brightness on your tv before it goes black.
I first tried 80% still went black
Then went down by 10 digits until I got to 15% and it doesn’t go black anymore. I think maybe it’s at 20% and still works can’t remember. But I still have the tv and it works great.
At night watching movies you can’t even tell how low the brightness is and your eyes get accustomed to it.
If you can’t see the menu shut off all the light make sure it’s dark turn on the tv and with your phones flash light or any flash light shine it at the screen and you’ll be able to see what’s on the screen. Get to the menu lower the brightness turn the tv off and turn back on and bammm! You got your tv back.

I am also facing the same issue on my new "Dell SE2717H" 27inch PC monitor. When voltage fluctuates monitor goes black for a few seconds. And I've tested with another 22 inch monitor from my home and there were no issues. Problem was only for this 27 inch monitor's HDMI port. No issues with VGA port. From the purchased local store they couldn't find out the actual issue. After seeing this video I think the reason will be because of this non shielding cable. Anyway my monitor has been sent for replacement. I am wondering that even the staffs from dell service center couldn't give a technical explanation on it yet.

It seems device interference issue. Isolate TV from cordless phone, microwave, speakers, router, PlayStation, home theatre and any other device near it. Then check. If it works fine then place devices one by one near it till you identify the culprit.

To all who read this what he doesn’t tell you is newer devices have a hdmi chip ( I’m guessing ) that send out a signal check that is why you may be getting the blinking screen . a higher grade hdmi cable means as of 2022 for simplicity is as follows … hdmi standard , + hdmi & either net , + 2k,+4K, +8k . And it has to be backwards compatible so you can use it on all existing devices

Whenever I switch on UPS for my desktop PC, during the time when the ups goes for a self check test cutoff, there will be stranded multi color lines on my monitor screen in the loading BIOS interface.
