      Being native I totally appreciated the background story. Im glad the tourists are respectful of our lands. Is it true the island is off limits?

    Hey Nina,
    I stumbled across your channel while reminiscing about a trip my wife and I took to the Canadian Rockies a few years ago. We visited Maligne Lake as part of our trip and took one of the boat tours over to Spirit Island, and I made the comment that I would LOVE to come back at some point and kayak to one of the campgrounds there….it’s just so visually stunning, as I know you’re fully aware!!
    Your video of the trip there was really enjoyable and rekindled that desire to head back there….really well done video!! Looking forward to watching more of your channel in the coming days as well.
    I also wanted to ask you a few questions about kayak camping there, whenever we do decide to head back that way….we live in North Carolina, so this would be an epic road trip if we opted to actually go that route…I’m sure we could find some other adventures along the way, lol. Anyway, here goes….
    What’s the best time of year to kayak camp? I’m assuming spring/summer would be the obvious choice, but not really sure.
    Any favorite campgrounds that you’d recommend? I know you mentioned another one that you’d stayed at on a previous trip, but wasn’t sure if that was your favorite?
    I don’t have the map in front of me, but would it be feasible to paddle beyond Spirit Island to the further end of the lake? Are there campgrounds beyond where you stayed?
    I think that’s about it for now, but if you have any other useful tidbits, please pass them along.
    Oh, one final humorous note….my wife and I occasionally tune into several TH-cam channels involving kayaking/camping/etc., and now that we’ve added you to the mix, we follow three other Canadian-based adventurers!! I think we’ve developed an appreciation for both the beauty of Canada and the warm, friendly personalities of the folks we follow. Maybe moving north of the border might be in our retirement future, lol.
    Cheers,
    Woody

    Hi Nina. Awesome video. Me and my wife just watched this last night and it was pure epic. Such an amazing adventure. I did this trip way back with my family as a boat tour to the end of the lake where you can closely photograph Spirit Island. It's about 45 min one way. That seemed long to us. Can't even imagine how you did it in a kayak. That's pretty epic. Another thing I want to mention is that the 4k video quality of your gear setup is one of the best I've seen on TH-cam. That 4k is mirror crystal clear. Seems so surreal. For sure those canon lenses help the RP camera so much to achieve those results. Another impressive thing is how you can vlog in 4k, given the fact that the RP has a cropped 4k and no dual pixel autofocus like in the 1080p.So even with those limitations the 4k looks like a pro grade camera let's say a R6 Mark 2 that has full 4k and dual pixel autofocus. I would also like to recommend the use of a GND filter. It's designed to block the sun in the background. For instance it was the most noticeable when you were vlogging in the kayak.The background was all white due to the overexposure as the camera can't simultaneously expose dark and light scenes at the same time. So the GND filter has a darker tint on the top half and a clear glass on the bottom half. This way the camera won't be affected by the bright scene in the background and the exposure will be even. Just an idea. 😊

      @NinaDefilla  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Victor! Thanks for watching ☺️ I actually do use a variable ND filter on my vlogging setup. I film vlog stuff in 1080p and 4K for the more cinematic shots. All edited in a 4K timeline

    • @victorkonstantin
      @victorkonstantin ปีที่แล้ว

      @@NinaDefilla Oh nice. I could not tell the difference from the 1080p vlogging vs the 4k non vlogging. That's a very clever way to make the best out of that RP camera. Brilliant with amazing results. Also your backpacking adventures are so well presented and captivating. Not too much of content per video but enough to keep the attention span going. Me and my wife are looking forward for more of your adventures🏔️🏞️📸. 👍
