    In response to the question of "why not give them all the powers" I found some information after looking up the Eternals myself, for some research.
    In the comics, they actually do, for the most part. Basically every Eternal is supposed to be just like Ikaris, and they all have energy manipulation abilities. It's just that they each use them in different ways. Like Ikaris is the only Eternal with eye beams, because his cells are special and can harbor more energy than most other Eternals; Sersi uses her energy manipulation to transmutate people and objects; Makkari (who is a male in the comics) used his to advance his super speed to where it is now - so on, so forth. So it may be that the MCU Eternals do all have the same powers (energy manipulation), but just use them in different ways.

    • @thegibberishsinger

    1:38 I felt like this was the case for Raya and The Last Dragon. There wasn't enough time to explore the world and introduce the characters enough to feel anything for them, and it also would have worked much better as a series rather than a movie.

      Raya and the Last Dragon worked a lot better though. I could get into the movie without feeling like a lot of it fell flat. Eternals flatlined for me, which is unfortunate, because I could see where it's going, and I liked the concept, just not the delivery.

  • @no2study
    @no2study 3 ปีที่แล้ว +116

    The problem with Eternals is that it's a weird movie, storywise yeah it could have benefitted from being a Disney+ series but its scope and scale also deserved to be on a big screen. Introducing Arishem and Tiamut on a 55 inch to 80 inch TV won't have the same impact as introducing them on a movie screen or an IMAX screen. Seeing Arishem on the big IMAX screen on his first appearance blew me away, it made me feel incredibly tiny and powerless. It's a marvel property that deserves the length time of a series with a season's worth of episodes but also deserves the big screen cinematically and visually. If it was a Disney+ series its visuals would've suffered immensely.

    • @hrishiv27
      @hrishiv27 3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Exactly this. For all of its faults, it is absolutely breathtaking, and I’m so glad I got to see it in IMAX. Show them connecting to the humans in each generation and end with them splitting in their seperate ways. They can also show how they affected the human history each generation with each episode...
      I don't think it needs a big screen...They can show the present day and Arishem in the continued Eternals Assembled movie.

    well if you read the comics: all the eternals do have all the powers, their is even a whole culture around their powers. the higher your number of 1 to 5 the more powerful you are in that skill. sersi is a level five transmuter vs sprite is a level 5 illusionist. there is no super speed. all their powers are based on the PSIONIC manipulation of atoms and cosmic energy and that is how makkari is able to move fast. he just likes to run so.......so in the comics everyone can and do fly, fire eye lasers, can read and control minds, super strong and fire energy blasts and create illusions/transmute matter its just some are more powerful in certain sets so they rarely use these abilities or cant do much with them. like mind control: druig is so powerful that he can control eternals and deviant minds, the others cant. he can control citites of people, the others can probably do 2-5 max. as always mcu SUCKS and never get the greatness of the comics. I had to pause the vid when they mentioned why didn't all of them have these amazing powers, i saw a couple of interviews with Angie and Salma and one interviewer actually brought up that question to them because apparently in the comics the Eternals do have all the powers, their reasoning was that they couldn't tell an interesting enough story if all of them had these amazing powers so they just decided the split up the powers and spread it amongst them.

After all Arishem literally said he couldn't get the Deviants to follow his rules which is the whole point of creation of Eternals. I guess by distributing the powers among different beings, he could have more control over them.

    Giving the Eternals ALL the powers like super strength, rapid healing, flight etc would make each of them practically impossible to kill. Making it harder to become invested in the characters. If there's no struggle for them to over come, if they can't die then there's no... I forget the wors I'm looking for, but i believe Ryan George brought it up when he mentioned the way in which they could bring people back from the dead and essentially erase death from the MCU.

    Maybe. They powers were split so that the celestials can keep them in control. You will need the team together to be of use. In one of them turns against the eternals, it is no use as they are not powerful enough. If they had all the powers togethers then there is a threat to the celestial as if one of them turns against them, it would be a harder task to control them.

    All of the Eternals have different powers because they are supposed to be a race of super people (like Asgardians) created by the Celestials and the deviants were supposed to be a community of the failed experiments that were mutated (like mutants) and not a bunch of alien devil dogs.
    Thanos was (supposed to be) a Eternal born with a deviant gene (purple skin and ridged chin) which is basically like giving Superman a mutant gene and making him even more powerful. That is why he was able to beat the snot out of the Hulk.
