    This video has just highlighted to me the need to find apps that concentrate solely on Castilian Spanish. Far too many are from American based companies that use Latin American Spanish or a generic Spanish which is no good if you live in Spain. There are far too many differences. Even the popular green owl uses far too many Latin American terms or speech patterns like using ustedes and usted much more often than in Spain.
    The app in the video is a good example of an app that can be used for solely Spanish from whichever country you want to learn the language of. I live in Granada, Spain so I don’t need to learn Mexican or Colombian Spanish. It’s difficult enough trying to understand the differences between Castilian and Andalusian Spanish. So thank you for demonstrating an app that can be specific in its Spanish language selection.

      You are very welcome! And yes, you are right! The most common issue I find is that people don’t even know the type of Spanish they are learning on those apps! So I really like Lingopie because you can select the series depending on the country 😅

    Saludos Patry, soy aleman pero ya he estado en Cuba 3 veces, tal vez podrías hacer un video sobre el tema del español cubano, suena diferente pero no puedo describirlo bien. 1000 gracias de antemano 😊

      @ Viajé por Cuba en auto durante 3 semanas con una cubana, escuché mucho español cubano porque ella no hablaba una palabra de inglés y tuvo que notar que las lecciones de español sonaban diferentes 😅 lo único práctico es que la profesora en Alemania proviene de Venezuela y muchas veces incorpora palabras típicamente latinoamericanas que no aparecen en el libro.

    Ahorita - I use "ahorita mismo" to mean right now (which I know is a mixture of Iberian & Mexican). Ahorita on it's own means "about now"

    • @patryruiz.
      @patryruiz.  10 วันที่ผ่านมา

      But it’s actually used to imply any time right?

    • @pauleff3312
      @pauleff3312 10 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@patryruiz. The way I understand and now use ahorita means "in a little while about / around now" so it's contextual. Voy a comer ahorita seems to mean "I will / should be eating in around 15 minutes or less". So it's not the immediacy implied by "ahor(it)a mismo" but more like soon / soonly. If the topic of conversation were about getting the car fixed "ahorita" for example, I'd take it that the car needs a service over the next month or so, kind of "about now" or "fairly soon".
      FWIW, I am English but have a mixture of Spanish flavours. Argentinian, central American & Iberian. Pronouncing LL & Y like the J in the French word "je", Z like the "th" in thumb, C like an S when not hard. A pc is a computadora rather than an ordinador.... Soy ahorita una mezcla grande - But I can't do "ustedes" for you-all; I have to do vosotros. Central Americans really do my head in with this when they omit the "ustedes" using just the 'they' part of a verb conjugation, and I end up thinking who are they talking about? When it's me and as part of a group... But it's all good fun.
      You are very funny and a fantastic teacher, I'll add. I have learnt a lot from watching your output too. Thank you for putting yourself on line to both educate and entertain us. Your send ups of our English accents are exceptionally good and "the boys in class" are just hysterical.
      Have a great Xmas and a fantastic New Year

    I recognize some of those words like no mames, güey, chingon, and pendejo 😭😭😭 bc these words were used in this minecraft server that i used to followed called qsmp. it was a multilingual server and started off with just English and Spanish bc the host (quackity) was a mexican who made content in both languages and was pretty popular among both communities. It then added more languages like brazilian portugues, french, german, and korean (sadly the server was shut down). But anyways, from what i learned chingon was like the GOAT (greatest of all times) for us??? But idk correct me if im wrong. And they always used the word no mames, I actually used to say it quite a bit bc of it. Anyways yeah that’s all i wanted to say. Sorry for this rambling

    Nope , chupe? In Pontevedra “chumar” is common, so “las bebidas” is just the formal way even in Mexico.

      Yes, I can’t think of sland for “bebidas” in Spanish other than “cubatas” but that’s only for specific drinks 😅

    ¡No mames! - the way this was explained to me was "don't breast feed me" which in itself means "don't treat me like a (very small) child" which in turn means "don't insult my intelligence" - it was very funny the first time it was said to me by a Mexican I know when I was tormenting her playfully and she shot back with "¡No mames! - having explained the joke / what that means we both fell about laughing uncontrollably
