In case you were wondering.... "L.F.&C:" Landers, Frary & Clark was a housewares company based in New Britain, Connecticut. It operated from 1865 until its assets were sold to the General Electric company in 1965. They manufactured a wide variety of products over the years, including stainless steel bull-nose rings and electric ranges, kitchen scales and vacuum bottles, window hardware and ice skates, mouse traps and percolators, can openers, corkscrews, cutlery, straight razors, aluminum cookware, and thousands of other products. Many of these items were marketed under the brand Universal. Some of the non-electric kitchenware assets were acquired from G.E. in 1984 by Universal Housewares, Inc./Universal Trading, Inc., who still market "Universal" meat grinders and coffee mills.

i remember a guy who was selling two M3 for $6 dollar each at a flea market. Then i haven't the knowledge to properly say if the M3 were a fake or not. Went home and make some research, returned to flea market next week but both were gone.I will always regret my lack of courage for not buy the stuff.

I LOVE the M1 bayonet!
Only reason I watched this was to learn any more information about my father's WW2 M3 Trench Knife / M8 scabbard I could learn about. Only thing I learned was there is no handle snap, no belt hooks on the scabbard. My father used it for fishing but he took the knife for granted. Never clean it very well, was rusted & the leather handle rotted away. He carries it in the Burmese jungle, was very proficient with it & could throw & stick it in wood at about 10 to 15 feet. I took over possession because my father saw it as the knife was given to him & in his waning years he didn't need it anymore. In my teen years I was an "expert" to replace the handle with wood & worked hard with fine sand paper to remove the rust. I stone honed the edge to razor sharp & honrd the false top edge to a very sharp edge. Still have the knife, use it for camping & loved it so much I bought a reproduction with a leather sheath. I also have a bowie blade version marked "USN" since I'm a Navy veteran. I think the M3 was a well balanced tough knife made for the US armed forces & the new issues are cheap garbage.

I became interested at a young age when I was shown a relative's WW2 Kabar. It started real slow at first, one or two knives a year, but ever since ebay came along the collection has been growing faster then I could ever have imagined when I started.
Meanwhile, I'm here with just 1 Vietnam War M7 bayonet lol. Nice collection!

They were originally made as 16 incg blades. In 1943 they decided that 10 inches would be better so they started cutting down the 16 inch blades to 10 inches. soon after they started making 10 inch blades. the 16 inch are M1905's . the cut down versions are M1905E1's and the ones that were made at 10 inches from the begining are M1 bayonets.the OL markings stand for Oneida, Ltd which is the manufacturer. continued

Hi😀, thanks for this vid!!, i have an m3 knife in m8 scabbard, blade and guard without any markings, no belt hook, bought for the reasonable sum of one dollar equivelent!, it had been painted black, and sold as a replica!!,

Thanks, I am uploading a new video tonight. it's just a few random peices from my collection but i was thinking about possibly putting together a video series on the M6 scabbard. i am getting tired of watching people getting ripped off, buying fakes for big $'s on auction sites. but I am not sure that there is enough interest.
one question on this impressive pieces.the tools and guns in our house,even my moms old cast iron frying pan would be ocasionally be seasoned or simply given a very light coating of oil.olive oil for moms kitchen iron and of coarse gun oil for firearms.Are their any similar techniques used to prevent pitting,rusting and other procedures for grips,pommel and guard along with scabbard?beautiful collection i must say.those may have seen the beaches of Normandy or even Okinawa history,history,history..The best way to study this subject is hands on,just wipe down after handling which is part of my question..sure i dont have to say that.

About once a year I go over all metal surfaces with gun oil and wipe them dry. For the leather I use Pecard's antique leather dressing.
Prior collectors of 2 of my scabbards must have used saddle soap or something like it. On those 2 the soap is still coming out of the pores of the leather when I take them out of storage for a cleaning. It's like a white waxy / dusty residue.
I wipe it away and protect with leather dressing until next time.
Hopefully the soap or whatever it is will completely come out on its own over time.
Never use saddle soap.

Is the bayonet beside the M4 bayonet, another M4 bayonet or is it a M4 Bayonet for the M2 carbine? Overall superb video!
I found bayonet next to skate park and it's same as one at 9:28 idk how i saw tip of it and puller it.
@brandon shields the go for a ton of money because they got cut down into 10 inches the scabbard goes for £50 here in the uk :O

from 1906 through the 1920's they were made by rock island armory and springfield armory. later they were contracted out to private companies like Utica, Pal blade and tool, wilde drop tool and forge, Oneida, Ltd, american fork and hoe, etc.
On the dated m3 blades. How many were on the first run? I just got a RC dated 1943
I'm not sure off the top of my head, but I'll dig out my M3 book tomorrow and look it up for you. The Robeson Cutlery I believe is the rarest though.
There 36,575 RC M3 trench knives manufactured during WW2. I have no way of knowing how many were blade dated and how many were blade marked. There were no guard marked versions made. However, the blade dated versions are much more rare than the blade marked versions.

How much do the 1918 knuckle knives go for? (1st knife in vid) I have an original, no sheath sadly, and it still has the rounded guard. It's definitely legitimate.
VERY VERY NICE
The W.T. is in pretty good shape, definately not Mint but but as far as dings go, when I looked at the blade there was only one small ding. It does look like the original owner tried to sharpen the blade slightly screwing up the parkerized covering a bit but it is still 85% to 90% of it's parkerization intact. As far as Kinfolks, I have a Blade dated M3, a guard marked that was put together with a dated blade from the factory and I have a few blade marked, one of which is mint.
Yeah, I have trench knife. They tend to be heavy rather than sharp, if you're deaing with a guy wearing a a trench coat and a helmet, razor sharpnes isn't g0nna get you very far.
How much would a 1918 knuckle knife cost?
i'd love to make those blades razor sharp, not mutch use in them though.

I’m trying to find a video of an early model Buck 119, which were the first Buck knives ever made. Hoyt Buck made them for the military in WWII and they had a reputation for being good knives. I have a Model 119, but the Model 119’s of today are very different from the ones used in WWII. Does anyone know where I could find a video of one?
I have 10 inch Bayonet I believe it is marked U C on the first line and U ord. symbol S on the second with the number 37 stamped on the blade. It also has the black handle what can you tell me about this.

Gd vid thx. Curious, you mentioned the displayed M1 Garand 10in. bayo was a cut down version of the 16in. But the 10in. exhibits a blood groove which terminates several inches from the tip. If the blade had been cut down would not the groove extend to the tip. Thanks again for the lookie at that fine collection.
+Freedomring 1775 Thanks, I'm glad that you enjoyed the video. If you listen closely I explain that they started cutting them down to 10 inches, and then started making them in a 10 inch version. I was speaking very low while I made the video not to wake up the wife at the time.That Pal 10 inch is not a cut down, it was made in 10 inch. I don't have any cut downs in my collection at this time. I only had one in my collection early on but swapped it with two other bayonets in a trade many years ago. It is pretty easy to tell the difference between the cut downs and the ones made in 10 inch. I prefer collecting 16 inch and non cut down 10 inch versions. If you liked this video, you should check out some of my others. I have a pretty decent sized WW2 collection with a wide variety of items. I still do collect militaria but have gotten sidelined into handcuffs, leg irons, thumb cuffs etc lately so it's been a while since I have posted a knife / bayonet video but have been thinking about adding a new one soon.

Yes there are fakes out there, but once you know what you're looking at they're not too difficult to pick out.
The WT bayonet has been in my collection for 15 years or so. I forgot what I paid for it at the time, but they sell for well over $1,000 today. They don't come up for sale too often though.
My grandpa fought in ww2 and he still has his bayonet I believe it is a 16 inch.
That's something that has a lot more than monetary value. I would keep that in the family. More importantly, while you are still lucky enough to have him with you, I would record as much of his story as I could. One day it will be to late to do so. My grandfather died when I was too young to have thought of doing that. I can remember some of his stories, but most are unfortunately lost to time.

+GeeK Infinite Just as important is his story. Don't let it be lost. He is one of very few WW2 veterans that are still with us today and all of their stories are important. His should be especially important to you and your future descendants.

nice video . If you want have bayonet from german Mauser 98 kar- you make visit in Russia :) or may be in Eastern europa , where was epic battle between Nazi Vermaht and Red Army . In Russia you simply may find this equipment in battlefields if you use metaldetector . Some things in very good condition :).

Where can i buy a trenchknife
I have the 10'' bayonet. The only problem with it is that my dad painted it when he was little. It has some different markings on it to. I'm not sure if its rare or worth anything though
I found a 10 inch while serving in mountains of Germany, was transferring to next duty station and MP's took it at airport :(

you really shouldnt be handling the blade with your hand, the acid in your hand can cause the blade to rust

first one you picket up is from WWI
They were reissued for use in WW2 as explained in the video.

You just have to keep you eyes open. They are getting quite expensive and there are alot of fakes out there, so make sure you know what you are looking at before you spend your money.

I'd be able to tell you all about your father's knife if given a few details, but you weren't very polite. People seem to do that a lot now that conversation is done via computer. People used to be generally more polite when their conversations were done in person.

Its hard to tell without seeing it. There are a few for sale right now on Ebay in various conditions. Keep an eye on those and you should have a pretty good idea of possible value.
