@@ekosubandie2094 just like our modern whales, their ancestors used to be land mammals and herbivores then they began to adapted to water and turned to big chunk of fish.
The sand of the great desert is very very loose and comparable to that of water as to why hunters are tethered to the sand skiff boats or they'll sink straight down. Jhen, dahren, delex, and cephalos have a streamline body with a smooth surface area allowing them to glide through with ease and their sand swimming is a bit like water swimming using the same basic movements snaking side to side like crocodiles or fish propelling their tail side to side. Also since jhen and dahren as well as the boats have a wide surface area and mass it keeps them from sinking straight through the sand and to the bottom. The sand skiffs also use wind to help sail them forward and usually during a desert storm the winds are in favor to keep them going.

You harpooned it with ropes logic dictates that you will be pulled with your target or pushed in some cases. It's funny and tragic but I still came back with my shield rather than on it, loved fighting it!
I just did the repel mission last night and I got to say, fun monster to fight. No cheap shots like Diablos. Even my Dad was entertained watching me play. I didn't know what to expect so it was mostly monkey see/monkey do with my teammates at the beginning. I got to bring pick axes next time though. Completely forgot you could mine from them. X-D
i see, and seeing some old portraits of those hunts hearing Jhen´s theme on the background... man those time was worth to be a whaler... even losing the fight, that would be epic!
@SanosukeSempai My guess would be the same way a beetle 'swims' in the sand, streamline body to make it easier for the heavy sand to shift over them and large powerful back legs to propel forward in the sand. Jhen I would guess would 'swim' much like a viper does in the sand swishing back and forth to move forwards or using that massive shovel like tail to push itself forward like a snail or something. With its massive size, momentum would surely pick up thus making it cruise as fast as it does.
I just noticed the Hunter with Rathalos armor appears in the 3u intro running away from Brachydios, since both use Rathalos armor and Lagiacrus Great sword
Man, if they can make all these greatly animated shorts. Then they should really consider making Monster Hunter into an animated movie, that would be AWESOME!!!!
Looks like a hand to me. Note how it's higher than the opposite shoulder. As for how it moves, it looks exactly how mine would look if I was carrying a cloak over my shoulder.
is the guan dao worth getting? right now i have a wyvern blade fire, and its pretty good. next time the festival comes around, i want to try to get some of its armor too.

@@ekosubandie2094 just like our modern whales, their ancestors used to be land mammals and herbivores then they began to adapted to water and turned to big chunk of fish.
My childhood question is that, how can jhen mohran swim on sand and how can that boat run on sand lol

"Jhen Mohran has two long tusks that it uses to help it swim through the sand in its environment, while Dah'ren Mohran has a single horn to do so. Dah'ren Mohran burrows into the sand by spinning in a drill-like motion as it moves from place to place."
"Not only is this horn used for swimming, but it's also for destroying any objects in Dah'ren Mohran's path, including sandships and fortresses."
"On its back are multiple blowholes used for firing clumps of sand out of its body. Unlike Jhen Mohran, it can fire several smaller sand clumps out them at once, barraging hunters with waves of sand as it swims forward."
"Dah'ren Mohran is also capable of firing a large clump of hardened sand out of the large blowhole on its back, blocking equipment that can often be found on certain sandships."
"Much like Jhen Mohran, Dah'ren Mohran feeds on minerals and microorganisms found in the sands that it inhabits. The minerals found in the sand adheres to its body as it swims, polishing its scales and giving the monster's shell a unique rusty texture."
"The minerals attached to Dah'ren Mohran's body protects it from attacks and prevents other creatures from latching onto it easily. Hunters need to break certain parts before mounting the monster's back."

2 Sturdy Fangs
2 Mohran Brace
It's either a Delex Pelt, or a bit of Jhen's body.
jhen is love, jhen is life!
I didn't play the game and I already noticed that the man with the afro who returns with a mineral in his hands makes a cameo showing off the mineral in the loc lac intro cutscene
@PikminWarrior It is missing Ceadeus (and Gobul and Lagiacrus because no underwater battles. :P) but it does have Alatreon.
This is far more dangerous than what we do in the game holy crap
I like how the ship bobs up and down like they're in water and not sand. Could have saved yourself some animation and had it stay still like it would in reality. Went the extra mile tho to have it make even less sense then it already did. I can respect that.
When I first fought this way back in the day I was terrified of his forearm strength because he was swimming through sand like it was a fucking liquid lmaooooooo
Jhen Mohran: MHT Online's grandest moment. If grandest is indeed a word...
@Danchamp07 You need to fight it in a special event quest. People below HR30 will be allowed to try out phase 1 of the fight with no requirements, and people at HR31 or higher will get a harder version of the full fight with high-rank parts. I hear this event will be held again June 8-11.

"Delex's front limbs have become fins while its hind limbs have almost completely disappeared, giving it a more fish-like shape and allowing it to swim through the sand in its environment with ease. Though it can swim through sand, it has a hard time maneuvering on some surfaces."
"As mentioned above, Delex are usually found in schools of four or more. They will follow large monsters, such as Jhen Mohran and Dah'ren Mohran, in the hope of scavenging leftovers left behind by the behemoths."
"Following a school of Delex is a good way to discover the location of a Mohran, though the Delex will sometimes jump on the hunting sandskiffs as hunters are following them."
"Though scavengers, these piscine wyverns will sometimes become prey to larger monsters if they get to close. For example, fins and other Delex parts have been found inside the jaws of Jhen Mohran."
"When one Delex is injured or killed in a confrontation against a threat, the others in its school will leave the area immediately to save themselves. Delex are relatively weak, so they can't easily take on most other creatures."
"Much like Cephalos, Delex can be knocked out of the sand and stunned by loud sounds. Their guts are also considered to be a delicacy by many."

Technically this is a Jhen Mohran, a close relative of Dah'ren Mohran though.
I already posted Jhen Mohran ecology in this comment section. Have you found it yet?
@@meremsolomon4744 Nah, but wouldn't it make more sense to actually put this in a Dah'ren Mohran cutscene in 4u?
In fact, I also already did that.
Here after the latest MHWilds trailer. Hoping the best siege monster returns 🫡
okay, so giant sand monster, can he come back in wilds please...
1:29 to 1:34 I honestly felt sorry for them, what did they think was going to happen even in video game logic.
X-D
I wouldn't recommend the Lagiacrus Greatsword though.
i see, and seeing some old portraits of those hunts hearing Jhen´s theme on the background... man those time was worth to be a whaler... even losing the fight, that would be epic!
@shadowlucariokid2 man those sound really cool..i wish a get there soon. but i think the psp 3rd only has up to hr 8 or 9?
@SanosukeSempai My guess would be the same way a beetle 'swims' in the sand, streamline body to make it easier for the heavy sand to shift over them and large powerful back legs to propel forward in the sand. Jhen I would guess would 'swim' much like a viper does in the sand swishing back and forth to move forwards or using that massive shovel like tail to push itself forward like a snail or something. With its massive size, momentum would surely pick up thus making it cruise as fast as it does.
I just noticed the Hunter with Rathalos armor appears in the 3u intro running away from Brachydios, since both use Rathalos armor and Lagiacrus Great sword
coming here after seeing the new Wilds trailer drop, this guy better be back
Is this why whenever you right Jhen Mohran there's no one else but you? Because everyone died?
Yes
There's small ships actually, they shoot the grapples
0:24 - Hey, you got Army of Two in my Monster Hunter Tri!
Is that the Earth Dragon Gem? (2:07 onwards, man walking down steps on right.)
@cloud1016861 It's not quick sand. Sand compacts when there is weight, so a ship wouldn't sink.
is always fun when the cutscenes look better than the actual gameplay
They should win an oscar for best dialogue.
Man, if they can make all these greatly animated shorts. Then they should really consider making Monster Hunter into an animated movie, that would be AWESOME!!!!
I just noticed that in the beginning of the video you hear seagulls....in the middle of a DESSERT
ElongatedVowels LOL
@iventhegreat1 that's just rathalos armor. Everyone can buy it. Same thing with the Barroth one.
@145lelouch Portable 3rd has all the areas and monsters from Tri, but it also has new monsters and new areas too.
These cinematics are nice and all but they raise so many questions as to how some of these hunts actually playout.
When he swallowed them, I thought, "Somebody didn't use the Dragonator at the right tiiime~"
'Tis suddenly recommended to me, coincidence? Is Jhen Morhan coming to Rise anytime soon?
Are there still any skilled Great Sword users out there? Kinda sad not finding one anymore.
@LelouchOfBritannia Jho is a kitten aswell... only takes a while to kill most times ^^
i miss this
lol jhen sends ALL those little boats flying.
you can just imagine whats going through everyones head
"OH FUCK HUUUUUAUAAAAAAAAHHHH"
hunter :
well i am pretty glad this ship has a self rigghting mechinisem
@bulletcurtain the "giant sand worm" is called Red Eye.
what is the ost in background ???
Seems like a remixed version of the loc lac city theme
I still can't figure out how the sandboats work.
My favorite ecology vid so far. Here's a crazy thought, why not make a movie out of this?
dude this was the real shit
best memories of my childhood
where the hell are all those guys on that boat?
ahem, you will notice at the end that they were right next to the dragonator button.
Please bring back this fight! Let us revisit Loc Lac City! It's such an amazing trading post!
Use of alcohol? What is that warning trying to say, there are drunk dragons about?
in a way i think they should ahve had 1 part of the battle be where you are controlling a mini boat.
Looks like a hand to me. Note how it's higher than the opposite shoulder. As for how it moves, it looks exactly how mine would look if I was carrying a cloak over my shoulder.
"EVERYONE,TO THE DELEX!!!'*jhen surfaces"EVERYONE, AWAY FROM THE DELEX
is the guan dao worth getting? right now i have a wyvern blade fire, and its pretty good. next time the festival comes around, i want to try to get some of its armor too.
So there were originally 10 small ships accompaying the big one but Jhen took out 6 maybe that's why there were only 4 when you do the Jhen Mohran quest. Pity.
well depends on how much pressure he can withstand and his body shape being round and reinforced with solid bone i'd guess he'll survive, good point anyhow.
I just noticed, the guy is wearing a shoulder-cloak at 2:06 because he lost his arm.
