I have a yellow one tuned to almost 200bhp on 900kg absolutely love it ! drives like a maniac and its always fun at the traffic lights haha everybody thinks you are slow but this thing goes !

I had one 15 years ago, traffic lights were immense fun 😂 the shock on boy racers faces 😂 always wanted to tune it but at the time couldn't find anyone to do it. Nearly 200hp would be amazing

@@Kevin-qo5ti up your fuel pump, injectors. install boost controller, external wastegate + BOV, ecu piggyback. send to tuner, up turbo boost, tune based on AFR.

Cracking little cars these,I own a red one currently and its my 3rd yrv turbo in the last 15 years.For your info only available in Auto never made a manual version.Very underated and rare these days.❤it

I had one years ago! Really good fun. Used to do 0-80 in 2nd. Gearboxes were weak though. The filters used to clog inside the box. Had it a couple of years and even went to a meet where there were 6 of them haha!

The fastest 1.3 engine of the time 2001 Uk yrv 130 bhp 8 secs to 62 mph top speed 112 in the 1300cc engine class fast forward 23 years later a200 1.3 turbo 165 bhp cars of Japan set the standard of cars today I seen a Toyota Yaris verso d4d and 1.3vvti auto 2005 ❤😂🎉

We don't have this in Malaysia but we import its engine, the k3vet and transplant it with the locally produced car i.e. Perodua Kelisa, Myvi etc.

Interesting car and especially the shift buttons. Shame it doesn't come in a manual though. Would probs look at something like a Nissan Cube or Suzuki Swift / Ignis Sport instead tbh

15 years ago on the island, that might have been mine 😂 was black also, black alloys, lowered and sporting a Blitz Nur Spec R exhaust. Nippy little thing 80mph achieved in second gear 😂 first would get you up to 40+mph in a flash 😂

This is one of the many Daihatsu’s “cool but why did you made that” moments, and probably the most quintessential one. They had no reason whatsoever to put 130ps turbo engine in this little car, Daihatsu never made race car out of it(that was Storia X4’s job), this car went into production and died before the iconic 2nd gen Swift Sport came out, In the 5 years window YRV Turbo existed, it had no direct rival, so it’s genuinely random decision for Daihatsu to make 130ps turbo hot hatch.

@@Mav86asian Spec wise yes, but C2 and A200 were lot more expensive, not really a direct rival. Punto HGT was probably the closest thing though it still costed 5k more than YRV Turbo.
