Reminds me of what a buddy did in high school. During one weekend he stuffed a chevy 283 into his dads Toyota. I think it was a 1972 Corolla, so it was rear wheel drive, which made it somewhat simple to do. Monday morning his dad sleepily got into the car to back it out of the driveway and didn't notice anything too out of the ordinary until he put it in reverse and gave it a little gas to back out. Well - that action caused the car to lurch backwards which made his foot inadvertently mash the gas pedal down. At that instant, from his bedroom, Scott heard a massive burnout as the little car shot backwards out of the driveway - nearly giving his dad cardiac arrest as he barely stopped in time to avoid a wreck. The dad was FURIOUS, but he was so impressed when he opened the hood and saw that 283 stuffed in it, he couldn't be too angry at Scott. We worked at the same place and he drove that car to work sometimes. I remember a couple of interesting details, it looked completely stock, which was the goal, but just touch the gas pedal and it would light up the little rear tires. The engine would also bump the underside of the hood when it torqued. That was Scott's one disappointing glitch with the car. I know the story sounds kind of insane but remember back then everything was a lot more basic and simple, no computers to worry about & not a lot of extra junk in the way. When you opened the hood of a car from the 70s there was usually about a foot of space all the way around the engine & guys used to stuff bigger engines in cars on a regular basis on any given weekend. That's why we learned how to weld - so that we could fabricate hack job brackets for franken-bikes and franken-cars. Unfortunately, soon afterwards we discovered girls and our brains collectively turned to mush. Lol - of course I'm exaggerating a bit but not much.
Ah, memz. In 2001, we shoved an engine from a wrecked stingray into a Sunbird. Twisted the chassis within two weeks. Good times before speed cameras on the Loop-101 in Arizona.
In the late '80s, we stuck the engine and transaxle from a Taurus SHO into the back of a Ford Fiesta. A sub-2000 pound car with a 225 HP V6 in the rear was insanely fast at that time. Another fun swap was a small block Chevy in a Fiero. It's a bolt-in, and made for a Testarossa-killer.

william dolezal my mum used to frustrate me no end but now she's gone I miss her every day. I make sure I ring my dad regularly and say hello. We don't always have a great deal to talk about about but I just want to hear his voice and make sure he is ok. Now I'm a man it's my responsibility to make sure he's OK.

Reminds me of what a buddy did in high school. During one weekend he stuffed a chevy 283 into his dads Toyota. I think it was a 1972 Corolla, so it was rear wheel drive, which made it somewhat simple to do. Monday morning his dad sleepily got into the car to back it out of the driveway and didn't notice anything too out of the ordinary until he put it in reverse and gave it a little gas to back out. Well - that action caused the car to lurch backwards which made his foot inadvertently mash the gas pedal down. At that instant, from his bedroom, Scott heard a massive burnout as the little car shot backwards out of the driveway - nearly giving his dad cardiac arrest as he barely stopped in time to avoid a wreck. The dad was FURIOUS, but he was so impressed when he opened the hood and saw that 283 stuffed in it, he couldn't be too angry at Scott.
We worked at the same place and he drove that car to work sometimes. I remember a couple of interesting details, it looked completely stock, which was the goal, but just touch the gas pedal and it would light up the little rear tires. The engine would also bump the underside of the hood when it torqued. That was Scott's one disappointing glitch with the car.
I know the story sounds kind of insane but remember back then everything was a lot more basic and simple, no computers to worry about & not a lot of extra junk in the way. When you opened the hood of a car from the 70s there was usually about a foot of space all the way around the engine & guys used to stuff bigger engines in cars on a regular basis on any given weekend. That's why we learned how to weld - so that we could fabricate hack job brackets for franken-bikes and franken-cars. Unfortunately, soon afterwards we discovered girls and our brains collectively turned to mush. Lol - of course I'm exaggerating a bit but not much.
Ah, memz. In 2001, we shoved an engine from a wrecked stingray into a Sunbird. Twisted the chassis within two weeks. Good times before speed cameras on the Loop-101 in Arizona.
Could’ve fixed the problem easily with a torque strap, no more hitting the hood 👌

In the late '80s, we stuck the engine and transaxle from a Taurus SHO into the back of a Ford Fiesta. A sub-2000 pound car with a 225 HP V6 in the rear was insanely fast at that time. Another fun swap was a small block Chevy in a Fiero. It's a bolt-in, and made for a Testarossa-killer.
These days Aussies put 650Hp 383 SBC into early 80s Toyota Corollas for burnout comps.
