    I believed in this presentations that the Philippines is right now the best to invest if somebody wants to make money. I have said this before even during 1990's, If our political climate change from corrupt politicians to honest and transparent governance. Now that our President Aquino is honest and hardworking president Philippine economy will continue accelerating in unprecedented manner.

    Waw! the foreign investors bring positive growth to this country! I think if the modern Farmers coming from U.S. Japan and Singapore will be the one to manage even 35% of agricultural land with friendly agreements with the lessors, thePhilippines will become the heart of
    East and West!

    In the u.s they only show the thrashy & the poorest side of the philippines. My wife's Filipino I've been there. I was really surprised how modern this country is depending where u go. They got malls bigger than the u.s. I have seen way too many exotic cars parked around the area. I will certainly go back there for a visit.

    Part of the problem of high unemployment is its numbers of non graduate most of the undergrad or highschool grad can't afford to go to college imagine a country that provide free higher education for everyone then you will create no poverty only those that are not willing to work will be left to fend for themselves a little slower but it doesn't mean opportunities will not arise. Many self made millionaire in the US started out with nothing but a penny in their banks but still manage to become greater than who they are. Jobs can be created by those creative and innovative graduates with help and support of good government. But infrastructure must be provided to all the highways roads must be made to reach every corner of the island if not by other means in the sky or by boat encourage networking to give chance to those remote areas an ease of access to spur home grown small business venture entrepreneurialship. Anyone that is good with handskill craftsman, or farmers little home grown backyard horticulture, organic farming, from herbs to coffee to just about anything that grow you can think off because there's an abundant amount of rain in the tropics this free supply of waters should be harnessed made into productive use. There's is so much to do but so little time I wish I'd thought of all of it when I was young but the new younger generation have all the time in the world they just need to follow through the one thing I learned from living in the US is that Americans are well conform to progress they are not afraid to live a progressive life even in the harshest environment in the desert, or in the coldest snow freezing environment they find a way to not only live but to progress and be successful why for the life of me I can not understand why we filipinos did not learn it from them we learned everything from foreigners except the most important thing is to become self sufficient self reliant imagine a cowboy centuries ago Americans ride a horse in a forbidden land knowing they may die from the natives bringing nothing but ax and shovel to plow and cut timber this is how America became america they live by the sheer will to live and survive and progress. After more than half of century of American occupancy filipinos never learned it for that I feel sorry but it's not too late.

      We can't really afford to provide free collage. In fact, I think no country can afford this.The key might be to provide free elementary education first. This encourages the extremely poor to bring their children to school. Also, this can mean that those people have time to save up to put their children into higher tiers of education. Making high school education free can also mean that more people can afford collage education due to more time saving up. The philippines has a lot of skilled workers (hence, we have a lot of OFWs). Since a lot have been immigrating, more skilled workers are needed to work in our own economy.

    The presentation failed to mention the most significant factor/resource to invest in the Philippines: the Filipino people. Not just to mention the population or BPOs, but it is very important to mention the fact that the the Filipino worker is highly - skilled and literate, with the ability to communicate proficiently in English much better than its Asian neighbors.

    Miss brodriguez, this is not a propaganda what the problem is not just the wages but if you really think about it low wages attract foreign investors but at the same time they are being tax at a very high rate now the problem is the distribution of the taxes where do they go well obviously the Philippines government still has a lot to learn about how not to dip in the cookie jar this should be the next project for the president along with the infrastructure. I will give you the best advice. The hands of government officials should really learn to keep their hands in their own pocket if not they should be monitored and be open to public scrutiny Philippines president should now right a bill of rights for government officials to lay open their earnings as an official employee there should be a legislation committed to providing public knowledge of government official earnings first and foremost then fixing infrastructure would be far more robust and expedient to every corner of the island's. Second Philippine citizens need to learn to be dependent many of whom receive money from OFW infact 12 million plus OFW which equate to billions of dollars coming to the Philippines and all I see is consumerism of the receiver the families that receives this support money goes into mall and restaurants but no one bothered to invest and conduct micro businesses or self reliance. I used to get mad at my relatives asking for money by hundreds of dollars only to find out they wanted to go to the mall and eat at best restaurants disgusting this went on for over decade. I began to wonder to myself what would have happened if they followed my advice to set up a small piggery farm, chicken, goat ducks etc. But nobody wants to do the work we have so much resources right on our backyard we only need to be creative and a little hard work filipinos can harness it not all good life is in the city. For this reason I am very disappointed if my family tells me to go home to Philippines I will send you even at 200 dollars a month I would have said I will make us become rich in the Philippines. I can't wait to retire there and start a new life.

      I totally agree . I guess Miss Rodriguez wants to happen that by the time she's going to wake in the morning everything is falling into the right places just like magic. Putting our economy to the right track is a very very hard work, this will take time after our last President fail to uplift our economy. We are before the tiger cub of Asia under the former Pres. Ramos and if only his successor continues what he started maybe we are not consider the sick man of asia. What I worry about is after this hard work of Pres. Aquino will the next President will continue its program towards success or the vice versa. In order to eliminate unemployment is to encourage investor to create business in our country which creates employment. TRUST is very important. In order to gain trust we must show to the world that we are fighting for corruption and minimizing the corruption because totally eliminating corruption is impossible ( its human nature of being corrupt). Upgrade the education system of our country especially create best teachers graduate in order to teach and encourage our young Filipinos to become competitive in skilled and non skilled work abroad. I'm a OFW and its really good and proud to see other nationality respect and recognize your ability when it comes to work. I enjoy working abroad because you earn while travelling free. Good Luck Philippines and keep going. :) VOTE WISELY!

      in Philippines, the media (read : goverment) tends to lift up the country's achievements to build such opinion that the country is doing really good. Meanwhile in Indonesia the medias are bashing and bullying the goverment to their incompetence and failure to do this or to achieve that. which one is better to give optimism for citizens and pursue the better natioon? you decide..

    better to have basic salary than nothing at all.those rising infra are opportunities to filipino community slowly but surely.this all success cant be done by just one administration alone and expect we all going to live within the global standards of living...i believe that the current administration is doing his best to give us a brighter future not too fast as you are expecting, it is slowly but surely..look around you, is there a change? how about you? is there any changes? if none... the problem is in you...help and be part of the change and contribute to betterment of our nation..

      I really agree too. Infrastructure is quite an expensive thing in the Philippines since we are in a fragmented country separated by water in between islands. This means that resources have to travel by boat from different islands to create the required infrastructure. That's why it will be quite difficult for Tacloban to rebuild everything since resources simply can't be carried by road from one place to the next. They will rebuild Tacloban eventually but it will be slow. Let's just hope nothing as powerful as Typhoon Yolanda will hit Tacloban as it rebuilds.

    The Philippines first needs to deal with the security of it's people from armed communist and terror groups spread across the country. National Security is one of the basic necessities for a stable society. Create low cost housing and remove homeless people from the street. Acquire and invest in local corporations and start focusing on heavy industry. Shipbuilding and electronics is the way to go. After that you can start building high speed trains.

      I would be glad to shut my mouth if this was all trash or I don't know what i'm talking about. How many unemployed in the Phil this year? 7.1% on 2013 and 7.5% in 2014. What is the ideal minimum wage needed for filipinos to survive? IBON facts & figure studies that filipinos needed more or less 1,000 pesos / day, but what the gov't gave was a crap P466 only, NOT even half of it! Perhaps, it's designed to lure foreign investors...that maybe good for you but not for the majority filipinos. How many of your countrymen have to leave out of the country everyday seeking better life? I may ran out of questions but do your research first or YOU SHUT YOUR MOUTH!

    • @edarnulfo

      Betty Rodriguez You actually have a point of course..Neoliberalism, the offshoot of neocolonial capitalism being espoused by the elites and the oligarchs in the country is actually anti poor and anti masses. The truth to the matter is there is nothing pro poor or pro masses in capitalism and capitalism itself really breeds social injustice. But what is the anti- thesis of it? You know I have seen former comrades kill each other at the height of the RA-RJ split. I don't want to go through it all over again. On the other hand I now put my faith on the evolutionary nature of our history and our people. Even if I am still at pain seeing the evils that we want to eradicate still there with the cost of so many lives wasted, I give it now to the new generation of Filipinos to chart the future and somehow I am seeing some relative achievements so I will not spoil the excitement.

    • @bettyrodriguez6342
      @bettyrodriguez6342 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      First of all, thanks for leaving a comment with sense and academic basis. I'm not really been versed with your scope of thoughts (RA-RJ...?) But I'm not actually against the economic growth of our country if only it's for the benefit of the majority who struggles everyday to survive... It just frustrates me that a lot of folks (typical Filipinos) has shallow to NO knowledge of the bigger picture of economic reality of the world today that affects ours. Sadly, they are also victims of this reality but they're the ones mocking or trashing those who trying to reflect the real picture without providing support to what they believe on. Harsh to say, many are IDIOTS in our country, and these were the products of false propaganda by our gov't that were ran by the ruling elite who has no other intentions but to feed their pockets. I don't know how to stand out my desperate little voice and be heard by my fellow countrymen who were blinded by the truth. :(

    • @edarnulfo
      @edarnulfo 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Betty Rodriguez Don"t worry ur not alone here, I mean we're not alone here on this view. What I do is not to respond at all with them. And true this economic strategy does not at all benefit the marginalized people in our society. The governmnt is banking on a trickle down effect hoping that increased economic activity and productivity would spur employmnt. It isn't working so far and inclusive growth remains questionable. Also even if relative increase in employment is attained, wages could not still cope up with the cost of living. I am afraid that no one has ever come up yet with the anti- thesis to this exploitative system except those who espouse socialism. But I have gone through it that is why even if I see the evils you are seeing, I am keeping my fingers crossed and giving it a second chance...Best wishes to u.
